  • Al Oliver could flat out hit ⚾️
The 7x allstar hit over .300 11x, and was awarded 3 silver sluggers
he had his best year ever in 1982, setting career highs in hits (204), average (.331), and homers (22). His average led the NL, as did his 43 doubles and 109 RBIs.
over the course of his big-league career, he struck out in only 8% of his plate appearances and walked in 5%. He hit the ball where it was pitched and used the whole field.
He was the first player in modern baseball to hit .300, while collecting 200 hits and driving in 100 RBI’s in both leagues
In 18 seasons, the lefty swinger amassed 2,743 hits and posted a .303 batting average. His extra-base pop - including 219 homers and 529 doubles- brought his slugging percentage to .451.
