I always enjoy your intelligent commentary. You are right about tokenism. We have never seen a curvy holiday Barbie or a main collector doll with a disability.
Thank you 💖 😊 Always appreciate your kind comments. We take the leaps in diversity for granted when it's obvious that if Mattel isn't able to gain something out of it, they'll probably easily take it away from us 😬🥲
It's such a shame that the last two waves of Fashionstas have been so badly pixelated - particularly considering the fact that they are meant to be homages to classic Barbie looks through the decades. Could this new wave herald the end of pixelation? I guess we're going to have to wait and see.
Barbie Fashionistas will always be my favorite line of all time. But i admit, I only like the 2009-2012 era.. But the lavander dress girl? She is a must!
While every person deserves to feel represented whether it be their skin tone, hair texture or disability it also feeds into capitalism and tokenism. They're not going to put these disabled dolls into their media, on t shirts or integrate them on other products. I was going to buy the new blind and down syndrome Barbie but after thinking about it I just figured I'd rather donate to specific causes that help those affected communities. And I think going forward instead of buying something under the guise of Charity, I'd rather donate directly or participate in mutual aid. The pink dress with the heart cut out is a poor mans diesel knockoff. Michelle from series 5 of RH is wearing an orange one with the R in the middle.
Absolutely agreed on all counts. 👍🏻 I saw people also mention Sabrina Carpenter wearing a similar keyhole dress with a heartshaped cut-out but hers is beige and rather formfitted. Thank you for watching and commenting 💖☺️
The purple puff dress is similar to Rainbow High Viola and I will get most of them except maybe Millie as she is every where and not that special. As for Mattel, Hasbro, MGA and most other doll companies, I know everyone seems to think that they make dolls for the customers, trying to be inclusive and relateable but when it comes down to it, its all about the dollars. There is no reason to produce an item that does not give a return on the investment, so take off our rose tinted glasses and realise we the customers are way down on the priority list. The bosses of Mattel will be only interested in giving the impression they care, just look at the Monster High Collector Dolls - Super high price and no consideration how the regular customer can get them easily. MGA and their soft reboot is another example. I love dolls but not the companies so much.
I love Roma and Michelle btw! I love these dolls, your video is the first time I’m seeing them, btw. I like the glam one but I’m sure if I will get any
Oooh I'm glad my News video was truly newsworthy then 😃☺️💖 and yes, seeing them in Person will be make it or break it for me to decide whether I'm going to get any. 😬😀
i really appreciate your discussion of tokenism because its so true. i like to collect "diverse" barbies because it makes me happy to see diversity but it also feels gross to be a participant in capitalism & tokenism (also pollution) i personally have a preference towards asian dolls as im asian myself and it feels good to be represented ! but :/ . no ethical consumption under capitalism also yeah AI...i do hope mattel doesnt use it
Totally agreed. It's kind of sad to see but not surprising. 🥲 Having representation is very much appreciated but people shouldn't be blind to the pitfalls that come with it when it comes to big rich companies. As easily as we get it, they can snatch it away when it doesn't suit them. Thank you for watching and commenting 💖☺️
Romy and MIchelle is a classic! Barbie and I have been on a bit of a break lately. I did not order the $100 US movie doll and nothing has really excited me of late. That said, this new line of fashionists is promising.
A handful of Fashionistas aside and Mermaid Odile I haven't bought any other new Mattel products this year I think. Still waiting for the My Scene dolls to drop 🙏🏻 ☺️💖
I'll probably get the one in the purple dress since I don't have a doll with that face mold, and she's pretty. The same goes for the Carnival faced one.
The Tall Gingham, Petite Cheerleader, Curvy Butterfly, and Lilac Dress girl are my favorites. Speaking of the Blind Barbie, I made a TikTok video showing images of her, and all I received are nonsense comments.
Why are barbie collectors on youtube hyping these fashionistas recently? I think they're as bad as always, I only like the tall one with the gabriella face mold (mainly her head), the rest are just as bad as always.
Great video! I really enjoyed your comments regarding tokenism, I had never given that much thought but I tend to agree with you. Do you know anything about the rooted hair Allan? I missed a couple reviews, and hopefully you know about that doll. Oh... And I like your ear rings!!!😊
Thaaaank you 💖😊 I have seen Pictures of the Allan you mentioned, looks like they gave him a similar hairdo as the campfire Ken has gotten, but I'm not sure if we're getting a regular Mattel Creations release or if it was a convention doll or ooak. 🤔
Never been a true fan of Fashionistas, neither the original bimbo ones, but these ones are very pretty, i love especially the brunette in lilac bubble skirt and the Millie in pink methallic dress The Millie in pink methallic dress is clearly inspired by Sabrina Carpenter and her FroLov minidresses with the heart shaped cut, and this is the proof that Mattel is finally awakening and aware about the cultural shift that is happening where the hyperfemininity is starting to be positively reevaluted These are steps in the right direction to restore Barbie's feminine fashion icon status

My favorite is the curvy with the butterfly 🦋 dress 😊

True 😅
This wave of dolls are sooooo pretty. The outfits are so nice. 😊😊😊

The only I want for fashionista line is articulation. The bendable legs is enough for me

While these aren't my cup of tea, i do like the little cowboy booties on one of the girls. It makes me wonder if they were originally Kelly's boots.
I'm definitely going to get the purple dress one.
When is it gonna come out?
@@GlamtasyDolls In the autumn I believe.

i heard barbie basics doll line is coming back next year in 2025.. 8 or 9 new ones
Yes, they are coming, 9 of them. They will be cooperation of Bill Greening with Carlyle Nuera.
The one in the purple dress reminds me of Raquelle!
wonderful dolls thank you

He was OOAK for Silent Auction on Barbie Convention, he was designed by Linda Kyaw.
@lubomirholik3104 Thank you so much for the information on the Allan doll. I'm sorry to hear that doll
Will not be for everyone to buy...
@@GlennMandeville154 Yes, it is sad. Usually the most interesting things are just OOAKs. :(
The tall one is carnival
I don't think 2 dangling earrings work that well with a guy with a beard😅
Oh; hey girl, hey!
Hey 👋🏻😸💖😊

Does anyone know when these dolls will be available?
They're estimated to come out in November, so I think end of September/early October will be the earliest we could possibly get them.
🤗♥️🖤🔥😍🎈🧜🏻♀️🧜🏻♀️🧜🏻♀️🧜🏻♀️
What is the barbie you are holding at the front of this video thank you.
2010 Barbie Fashionistas In the Spotlight Glam ☺️💖

Clickbait!!!! 👊🏻
😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who? Meee?? Nevah!!!11 👀👀👀👀
Not better than ever. Same dolls with cheap outfits with a hint of 00s. They'll be pixelated as usual.
They are so meh
