I have to say that the more recent Barbie clothes are seriously lacking. I recently got my old dolls out of storage and I’m shocked at good the quality of doll clothes we had back in the 80s and 90s.
@@MyFroggyStuff the dresses were immaculate! The details! It was all amazing! I got some Barbies for my nieces and I just wasn’t impressed by the clothes quality.
I just found the "Dreamboat Ken" outfit in a thrift store bag of doll clothes... It's gorgeous. Stunning. Like, literally the most amazing outfit, with real snaps, buttons, socks- like WTF - the Barbie clothes now are the cheapest one-piece, printed everything- just absolutely awful.
Agreed. I wish they had done a better job with the inspiration outfits. The new Peaches & Cream was especially lacking. I got my first Barbies as a gift from an older cousin. She's about 10 years older than me. One was a blonde bubble cut and the other was a brunette ponytail. I also got a travel case full of clothes and shoes. The quality of the old clothes from the 60s is amazing! They rarely come close to that even with special collectors dolls now. Made to move bodies on the other hand are very cool.
@@MyFroggyStuffCan you please stop swaping dolls heads it,s hurting the dolls im not being mean Just saying it,s hurting them😢rip dolls so please stop swaping heads😢
We need more made to move body types and skin tones. I think at one time you could go online to Mattel and "design" your own Barbie. There were a couple of different heads with different eye colors and hair combinations, one body type with a couple different skin tones and some mix and match fashions. I wish they'd do something similar now. There could be options for the new body types and articulation.
I love giving the older dolls a second life by giving them made to move bodies! The cheerleaders you did pick are so pretty-and the lack of pixelation in their screenings was such a refreshing change of pace 😊
I really prefer just finding older dolls and putting them on mtm bodies, too! The faces are so much nicer - and so is the hair! They actually have long hair?! I feel like so many fashionista dolls have this just below shoulder length hair that just doesn't sit nicely.
Cool! Have you ever considered doing a Apartment miniseries with Callie and Nigel as a married couple with some of the fashionistas as their neighbors?
When you said you were only putting ornaments on the tree front, I couldn't stop laughing. Flashback 1950s! My father would get upset at my mother for artistically placing ornaments on the back of the tree which, on a corner of the Plasticville village and train platform, couldn't be seen from outside the living room picture window or anywhere in the house, for that matter. She'd counter with she couldn't rest thinking of about 1/4 of the tree naked. All my father wanted was to start playing with the trains. All my mother wanted was an artistically arranged showpiece Christmas tree. Thank you for bringing g forth a memory that made me laugh.
The moment you panned past that Peaches n’ Cream Barbie reboot, I knew exactly which doll they were inspired by! I also had that doll growing up, and I even had my grandmother make me a similar dress for a school dance with peach organza sleeves. So much nostalgia!
I love how the cheerleaders made an appearance in this video! As I was watching I was literally thinking to myself ‘I wonder if she still has all the dolls from her older videos that I watched when I was a kid’, and then suddenly they appeared! Great to see them make a comeback, and I’m glad you still keep all the nostalgic dolls ❤
I love how you take something that was old too something brand new! It helps so those cheerleader dolls have a new body, and you not throwing away old dolls! How smart Ms. Toys! 😮❤ 👏 But this may be useful but those dolls have a new beginning to start!❤😮🤭☝🏽👍🏽
I love the superstar inspired doll. Ive got the original peaches n cream Barbie and I love her! The fashion for the inspired doll is disappointing to me. It looks a bit on the baggy side 😢
I actually flattened the back my tree and pushed the branches to the side and front this year to save space! It's really handy for living in a one bedroom apartment lol
I had that exact peaches and cream Barbie. She was my favorite doll. Not crazy about the inspired fashion. And that brunette cheerleader looks like Hermione Granger. So cute!
I love these new Fashionistas! And I love that they're based off dolls from the past. I don't mind the printed sparkles, only because they won't flake off over time and make a mess. I tend to get sparkles all over me LOL. I have that cheerleader from OSU with the braid, and I put her on a Made to Move body, and I love her! :D ugh, waxy hair, soooo yucky! I hate when that happens. I always have to soak my doll's head in Goo Gone for two hours to fix it, and then I have to rinse it out really good. The hair smells like orange for quite some time lol Thanks for sharing these great new dolls! Can't wait to see more!
I'm rewatching all your videos from newest to oldest and just got to this one. I love the OU cheerleader! Growing up in Oklahoma, my family has always been an OU family and now my little brother goes to school there!
Names for your new models Sabrina, the first Barbie inspired and Cristina the all pink are cute new additions to the shelf. New fashionistas are cute this time round except for the pixelations but cute
Have you ever made a spa room? A hair salon/nail salon/luxury spa? A unisex one so the guys can get some pampering too. with all the nails in the mini fashions now you would have a good supply. Make a few curlers, curling rods, etc. Coffee corner too with water dispenser and of course a waiting area with lots of magazines.
I had Disco Barbie clothes set complete with wigs and shiny outfits in the 70's, also Kissing Barbie a little later. Shaving Ken was a mess (he had real hair and marker beard) and reminded me of your vampire doll in Summer and Cali.
I remember the peaches and cream barbie too. It was like a faux leather snake skin top on the dress. That would have looked nicer for the inspo barbie.
Thanks for the review on the latest Fashionistas Toya. The concept of having these dolls inspired by Barbies from the past is cool. 😎 But the execution is seriously lacking IMHO. I’ll be passing on all of these & saving my dolly dollars for other offerings. 😉
LOVE the cheerleader upgrades, Toya! The tall and the curvy Fashionistas are so pretty! I think the curvy looks like Miley Cyrus- I wonder if anyone else thinks so. I’m wondering why Mattel hasn’t addressed their face screening quality control issues yet. Also, I’m old enough to own or have played with all those OG retro fashions and can attest that quality on even basic pieces used to be much higher. Mattel needs to hurry up and start reprioritizing quality dolls and fashions over wasting time and resources on cheap rush-jobs. (In my opinion, of course.)
Okay, I love the outfit inspired dolls. Growing up in the 80s, I loved my dolls and the clothes were so much better than today (IMO). I think they should have did a Barbie and the Rockers inspo for that pop singer doll. That would have been awesome.
I wonder if the shininess on the dolls faces can be fixed with a matte varnish? The pixelation would probably be difficult to fix without a repaint though.
I have a questions about the dolls and fashion without opening in the back. Can you easily slide off the original fashion without ripping it off, for exchangeable fashion between dolls??
Regarding the price point for fashionistas… in the UK they retail for around £14 which still works out more expensive than in the US even with the conversion rate. For 5 points of articulation the FASHION would have to be impressive for me to buy them. Ken’s are the only dolls I will buy if I don’t have the face sculpt or REALLY really want the fashion. The varsity jacket set is £20 in the UK!!! You can get a few fashion packs for that…. Love Barbie, love Mattel, don’t love the cost
The print on Fashionista 220's shirt reminds me of the curtain from the 1980 Dream Pool!! So ironically he kind of takes inspo from the past just not from a doll 😂
I got my new fashionista today too, the dark brunette. I haven't unboxed her yet, but she doesn't look as pretty as the stock photo....but, I'll hope she looks better out of the box.
We need a bald, bearded dad bod with olive skin! Come on Mattel. I wish they would increase the foot size and regulate them across the doll bodies. It’s so hard to find shoes to fit my curvy. But, I am loving the deeper skin tones.
Thank you for the amazing videos! Could you make a tutorial on how to get rid of waxy hair? I tried the baking soda and hand cream mix, it works for a while and it returns back.
I can't believe they inspired this to sell on a Barbie. The blue hair was the only one I found interesting, especially the outfit, and I don't remember this face, either. I am so happy you brought out your older favorites to give new bodies. Thanks so much. I was wondering about the new line of Fashionistas.
Might pick up the new line just for the artwork. I don't have a Ken/Steven in the broad body yet. I had to chuckle a bit with the cheerleader dolls. I have a Wisconsin Bucky Badger that is a bit older than the Tennessee ones you showed. 🙂 Giving older dolls new life is something I'm trying to do. Trying to find a suitable match for the Enchantress from Fairytopia.

we always put the 'ugly' ornaments on the back of the tree. You know the ones you made in kindergarten out of pipe cleaner and your mum kept for some reason.... Also we'd hang the collars of past pets on the back as well.
