- This is a bangin' Dad rock tune from 1979, off the Blackfoot album "Strikes". I didn't realize the camera on my ride cymbal was focused on the foreground only -- so I look blurry in those shots. But you can get a good look at my cymbal felt, lol! 🤣 😕
Excellent Beat, we can only Groove on this cover,,well done performance,, Alain
Thanks so much Alain! I always appreciate it, my bro. 🙏💛🙏

Killer, Mike! Rickey Medlocke's old Southern Rock Band, and this is good stuff! Always loved this song! It's got a nice groove, and you stayed in the pocket, Brother! Killer fills and nice work all the way around the kit. Love this!! I think Medlocke even messed around with the drums some, with early Blackfoot and early Skynyrd as well. But what a great front-man and guitarist he was / still is. Great stuff!!
Thank you Jimmy! I'm stoked that you liked this -- I've always loved this Southern rock boogie. Thanks for the background info too -- very interesting. I heard that this song was written by Medlocke's dad, who was a bluesman too apparently. As always, thank your for your great support and excellent comments! Have a great weekend! 🙏🙏💛💛🤘🤘
Yes Mike that was fantastic! Loved the dynamic accents on the hi-hat and bell. Rock on 🎉
Thanks a ton Josh! I'm glad you liked it! 🙏💛🤘🤘

Driving pace! I like how the steady Pace strikes the snare drum hard but how there is variations in the fields that keep things exciting and moving through the whole song excellently covered

Such a Perfect cover bro! You Rock!👊🤘🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥

Great drum cover of an excellent song. I was fortunate enough to see Blackfoot live at the Hammersmith Odeon and they played Train Train as the last of 4 encores with the mighty Jakson "Thunderfoot" Spires on drums, they were a brilliant live band.
Thanks so much Andy! Wow, that must've been a cool show. What a great experience! I sure appreciate you checking this one out! 🙏💛🙏🤘
Amazing cover Mike! That intro is pure fire! What a cool groove! You're all over the kit! Sounds sick! That ride cymbal is so beautiful! I understand why you wanted to be this beauty part of the video 😂🙃😂Nice tom end🤘🤘🤘

Excellent cover Mike! And smart to change the ride to make it fully a bell...that's what I do as well haha! 😀 Rock on man! \m/\m/
Thank you Kevin! Yeah, there's no sense in trying to hit that tiny bell cup when you can just make the whole thing a bell, lol!😃 🙏💛🤘🤘

No surprises here Mike, faultless performance again my friend. Would love to see a ‘behind the scenes’ look at how you put a cover/video together? especially a look at your kit.
Thank you Walton! Well, you already got a nice close-up look at my ride cymbal here, lol!😮😳 I'm thinking about doing some type of video like that at some point... if I can figure out how to focus the cameras first. 😃🙏💛

Dude great track! I was actually going to cover this too...Great job!
Thanks a ton Johnny! Well I could see you crushing this classic rocker... did you play this in any of your bands back in the day?? 🙏💛🤘
Another classic bringing me back to listening to music with my dad, for sure! Going back to your drumkit, those are rubber pads, yea? My first e-kit was a Roland TD-7 which had rubber pads and over time, I started getting pain and fatigue in my wrists. Maybe it's cause I play so hard, who knows. You experience any of that? You ever consider getting some of the Yamaha DTX mesh pads? Always love your releases Mike!
Thank you Bryan! Yes, these are the rubber pads. So far, I've not experienced any pain in the wrists, but I'm well aware of that complaint. I guess my next move would be to acoustic shells with the low volume mesh heads as opposed to the Yamaha mesh pads. Do your Rolands have 2-ply mesh heads? Are they comparable to an acoustic drum head?
@MikeConwayDrums yes I am using two ply heads and honestly, I've been playing on e-kits for so long, I totally forgot what real heads felt like. I stopped paying acoustic around 1998, so it's been a minute. 😂 I guess they feel the same, especially in the snare drum. You can get those good press rolls and dynamics in ghost notes on the mesh heads. But the obvious downside is isolated hot spotting which is inherent to all mesh e-drums I guess.
I literally just learned about this group a few weeks ago, but haven’t had much time to go much further and check them out. I can’t even remember what I learned! I know this looks like a super fun song to play to though and you sound great! Also, isn’t this kit like 20 years old? Who is the show there’s so many crybabies saying electronic drums just don’t cut it yet! 😂
Thanks for the great comments! Yes, this is an older Yamaha kit that I customized. I'm triggering Superior Drummer 3. 🙏👍🤘
カッコいい曲🤣🤣🤣
