Shep Pettibone (who produced the album) told that most of the demos she made of the album (outside the title track, ''Words'' and ''Thief of Hearts'') was transfered for the final product, since she wanted a dark and unpolished sound for the album. Most of the songs that you hear in the final product was what the original demos sounds, she just made few minor changes or overdubs for the songs when she transfered the demos for the final product, that's it.
