*For the people that can't or don't want to take the battery out, try this:*
1) leave it plugged in
2) shut down
3) hold down power button (wherever it may be) for 30 seconds
4) after the 30 secs, it should turn back on by itself, if not, turn it back on
5) unplug the part on the outlet, not the part on your computer
6) wait a few seconds, and if u can, plug it in somewhere else
done! :D it should be back to normal now, just gotta wait for it to charge to a full 100%
note: for some, it should work after step 4. if not, theres step 5 & 6
all of this worked for me, and i really hope it will work for you too~ good luck!! 👍
Thanks this worked a treat. What is the mechanism behind this? Is this related to the static build up described in the video?
I was just about to take the battery out, but checked comments before and gave your instruction a try: It worked! I have no idea, why. @@PC_Monkey sir thank you so much for your generous response.
Sir after posting my query here, i didn't stop searching about the issue because I knew you are somewhere in the other part of the world and I am also in other part of the world and I knew there would be communication problems between us.
So sir, what I have done is i searched for the same issue on internet.
Fortunately i found same query posted on lenovo forum. The lenovo community replied him to switch off the computer and charge for atleast 2 hrs.
I charged my lap for 1 hr and it worked sir.
My lap issue:
1) At first, it didn't charge, it was producing a sound which one cannot hear unless one puts their ear near charging port of lap.
2) the lap was producing 3 orange lights blinking at charging port continuously and stop for a second.
Blinking lights(1st light , 2nd light , 3rd light) and wait for a second and repeat.
What I have done:-
I have searched for the second query on internet.
Someone posted the same query, but his issue was continuous blinking lights without waiting for a second in between.
But I still followed the instructions.
Fortunately it helped.
Once again thank you so much sir for your generous respomse

@@PC_Monkey Same here. Never would have guessed it, I would have just ordered a new battery and hoped that did the trick. Instead, instant fix. Gratias!
For anyone who doesn't have the correct screwdriver you can try this:
1) Let the laptop discharge completely (when you try to turn on the laptop must give no signs of life and if it does, click the power button until it's completely off).
2) Hold the power button for 1 minute no matter what screen you see.
3) Turn the laptop on with the charger attached
Now you should see the battery charging correctly.

hello, a few days ago i updated my laptop and all of this battery problem has happened? does this mean the update changed it?
It could mean that a related update or driver is not correctly installed. Try to run the updates manually as seen here; ua-cam.com/video/AExeK3QAN7U/v-deo.html. If that does not help, it may be a coincidence. Try replacing the battery.
you mentioned the static and I cannot take my battery off without it being a entire project, so I shut down my computer like you said and rubbed a dryer sheet over the holes on the back for about a minute, just to see if it would take out the static, then turned my laptop back on and it worked! Happy to help :) Always here if needed !!
@@PC_Monkey Sadly, after using it for a while I found that the battery had died again. So ordered a new one and will try it out. Since it is my backup computer, I don't really mind it went out. There is an interesting difference between the batteries, however. The new one has the following specs: 11.1V(says it is compatible with 10.8V) and 6 cells. The old one was 10.8V and 8 cells. Doubt it will make much difference, but would like to get more than a year out of it (the original battery lasted 6 years).
Thank you for posting this video. However the order of fixes should be reversed. It is much easier to check on driver fixes than opening up the computer. The windows updates frequently cause issues. On quite a few occaisions I found that bluetooth has been disabled for example. For my laptop, I went first to the device manager, clicked on the Batteries category, right-clicked on the "Microsoft AC Adapter" and selected "update driver." Although there was no applicable update, just doing that brought my battery immediately up from 0% to 45%.

Hello PC monkey, thanks for the nice video! It's very helpful!
Recently my thinkpad X1 carbon(4th gen) becomes very slow once its power is lower than a certain value (like 60%). Meanwhile if it is connected to a charger, I can see the battery error (255% charge or battery not connected), and the charge indicator starts to blink and will continue to blink even after I turned off my PC. I tried many ways to solve this problem, for now only removing and reconnecting the battery can make the PC back to functional, but the problem will happen again if the power goes down to a certain value.
I just replaced a new AC adaptor three months ago, so I guess it is not the origin; and since charging problem continues with the computer turned off, then it is not related to the software or drivers. I'm considering replacing the battery. What's your suggestion? Thank you for your patience!

So if my input on the laptop says *20v-3.25A* but on the charger it says *input 100v 240v and output 20v 3.25A* that's a problem and I should get a different charger?
Hi. my lenovo b50-80 always charges when it's turned off. But when I turn it on, it stops charging. (Moreover a red led is blinking all the time.)
I don't know why, but there are days when it also charges when it's turned on. Do you guys have an idea what's the problem?(I use linux).
Thanks.
Same here
Thanks very much. Your instructions worked like a charm on my Lenovo.
Great to hear !! Always here to help :):)
My laptop came with an absolutely massive 300w charging brick. My machine draws 160w at the wall at most. I ordered a 170w charger for when I travel, which is frequently. The computer doesn't charge and tells me the charger isn't the one that was included (yeah, that's the entire point!) and to use the charger it shipped with to use AC power. Any advice?
I had the same thing, pulled the battery out, pressed the on/off button one minute and it has started charging again, thanks so much!

There is a critical firmware update for Thunderbolt that affects lots of Lenovo machines. If you are using a USB-C charger then it may affect you and it has the same effect, battery at 0%. The problem I have right now is I can't install the firmware updates because the battery is permanently below 25%, so I'm stuck.
I have the same problem
It was static charge form me works fin now thanks👍
I'm confused, they should have same volts in input? Or laptop input and adapter output should be the same?
Hello, thank you so much. I replaced my battery and it still wasn't working so I uninstalled the driver and voila!! Thanks again :)
