True FF style obtaining the Ulitma Weapon so late in the game that there is nothing to fight with it except the final boss.
Yep and it pretty much sucks at that point you don't get to have any fun with it. That is why they needed a better item upgrade system you can make weaker weapons just as powerful so you can keep your favorite weapon or even be able to switch between them without much change to damage
true FF tradition would have a secret super boss that the weapon is nearly necessary for…

Imagine a DLC where they introduce Cloud of Darkness from Final Fantasy III. That would be pretty cool in my opinion.
This is where the older Final Fantasies really score with fans. In FFVIII for example, you can get the Lionhart in disc 1. And then use it the whole game. They shouldve made it available like 50% through the game.

I’ll play Ultimaniac difficulty so this sword will be cool. I do really wish that transmog was an option though, there are so many weapons and you end up skipping half of them depending on how much side content you did and it was really shitty that I didn’t get use masune or everdark cause I had Ragnarok by then and with gotterdammerung sharing the same model as Ragnarok it felt like a slap in the face considering it’s almost 100 damage higher

I think it is bs to get this weapon so late on NG+, basically you need to play 3 times to get to enjoy it...
I literally just got to NG and realized when I went to the blacksmith. Absolutely stupid design choice. Game isn't that good for 3 playthroughs.
@@prestonj8227true unless your me that enjoys pummeling and vaporizing enemies on story focused mode while using the Ultima weapon and Clive being at level 90 or above; why? Because me using the Strongest weapon and being at super high level is a tension and stress reliever for me from all the very hard content I had to go through in getting the Ultima weapon.
Kinda sucks you get the Ultima weapon till basically the end of the game twice. If you got it towards the end of the first playthrough then could upgrade it using the Reforged weapons, then that would be better, but honestly I'm probably going to play through this game a third time cause I loved it so much, so it doesn't bother me too much

Yeah, I think I’m good. I’m only going through the main story on my second playthrough to earn the platinum. The side quests were the lowest point of this game, but some had good storylines.
If they decide to make DLC i think we'll get the game from Joshua POV, probably from the fall of phoenix gate, his finding about Ultima & Leviathan, all the way until the bahamut fight with Clive at the main game

Joshua spoke about leviathan being lost in time that could be a dlc but cmon no cactuars or tonberry’s? The bestiary for this game was pretty thin
They could have at least given us a king Tonberry Elite mark in Waleod or a missable fight in Eastpool if you don't properly explore after the major event that happens.
Cactuars in the desert as a rare mob is a no brainer. I love this game, but it needed a little more levity, just a little. Chocobos is the wild are great, but I would trade a few of those for a couple more FF enemies we recognize.
It's such a shame this game doesn't have any actual superbosses at least yet.
I agree it's the only thing that bothered me about this game everything else is amazing
Agreed, some say the S rank endgame hunts are basically superbosses but i disagree, we really need some endgame content but idk if they'll even support the game cuz YoshiP said there are no DLC's planned before launch.
@@jackjohnson8305to clarify, he said he and the team were waiting on feedback from the players to gauge interest in dlc. So if they hear enough support for dlc and post-launch support then I imagine we’ll get more content added

I would imagine that seeing the game selling 3 million copies and being really great for the game along with people praising the game will earn it more leeway to getting dlc.
I would then hope to see other FF iconic bosses act as superbosses.
Imagine a Sephiroth fight or a Ruby Weapon or Kefka or Exdeath or Ardyn fight. That would be amazing.

using only odin to one shot the little shits and doing the most dmg on bosses it’s very fast to get through the game in ng+ no matter what level u are
Came here to clarify what i feared, having to clear the game, and all side quests just to use the weapon for the last 4 hours.. i remember being able to get the Ultima weapons in ffX fairy early and then use then for monster arena and rest of the game. You could also get ultima weapon in 7 and get some good use out of it as well. Side note, i dont like at all how the last three, strongest weapons are all just the same sword, reskinned.....
And Yoshi P said in a interview that he had enough content to make FF16 double disk. Meanwhile u have to play the game fully twice to get platinum within a 60hr gameplay. 😂 yoshi on that toad

Not really a "to help with the playthrough" if you get it at the very end of the game.
Stage replay makes it redundant to restart an entire new game plus just to run through the game with Ultima Weapon, but ofc if you want that restart nobody is stopping you

I thought that was kinda obvious...so yea replaying it a third time just to literally one shot everything is just going on a power trip

No more potions. You should do blacksmith and Chocobo plus enough hunts and things to get the orichalum and weapon ingredients but everything else really down to you. Upgraded genji gloves are BIS and require a lot of those points you get from sidequests and hunts.
So if I was to make a new game and set it to final Fantasy mode would I still have to beat it before obtaining it
question if get the ultima weapon and finished the final fantasy mode can you start another new game with the weapon in your inventory in another difficulty ?
I want to know that too, I want to use Invictus for the whole game but the only way I see to do this is using the Invictus from the Final Fantasy difficulty but on the normal difficulty

Wait hang on, you can only use it on the final boss? Are you not able to make a clear save on FF mode? I don't mind waiting till late game to have it but if you can't even use it in a NG+ that's pretty shitty.
That’s how the base game is. You can’t craft Gotterdamnerung any earlier until you’re nearly at the end of the game, because some of hunt notices you get has the materials from only those specific fights, which is in the penultimate area of the game.
By the time you get it, only thing you can fight with it is Ultima.

Lmao for a sword that plays exactly the same as every other sword? The sword is literally just for extra damage, and besides that most of your power comes form Eikons.

@nymphetalust No damage achievement is for one boss only, and you can do the war panther. At level 48 or so you just have to dodge 2 hits and diamond dust then it will likely die to stagger. You can do it through the replay stage, couple of trash waves then boss. Really easy trophy.

I prefer doing all the side quests in every game I buy. Of course there are quite a few side quests in this particular game that are just really really bad. Honestly I can't believe how bad some of them are. There was no thought or effort put into most side quests in this game LOL Having said that it's content and I still do it and I'm glad I did because there is some cool stuff to get and cool lore on different characters and the world.
Yes, especially the late-game/end-games ones give an insight on the characters.
Yes you unlock chocobo, bigger inventory and potency upgrades are rewards from side quest so make sure to do them as they spawn plus the story to them is good
Yes, a lot of the rewards have prerequisites to unlock certain things

Reforged weapons only exist in FF Mode.
"To aid you on your journey the ultima weapon is available for crafting". Yeah if you beat the hardest mode and get to the end.. which makes using the weapon pointless at that point.. whomever thought of this stupid idea should be fired.🙄

I have finished the game, and I'm already in the middle of the new game plus, but I went back to play Elden Ring. The new game plus in this FF game is way more boring than the fights in the normal game ... just takes an eternity to kill enemies, and the Eikon fights are even less fun because they last too long. I wish that we could get the Ultima Sword sooner so the grinding and fights in general would last less time ! What is the point to get this thing just before the last fight of the game in a second play through ...

I am playing NG+ just for the epic boss battles. I was really hoping to use Ultima blade early on by finding the required items but if it's already towards the VERY end of the game, there really is no incentive to even acquiring it, aside from platinum-ing the game 😔
Also I LOVED the Fallen dungeon levels and really wished that was featured more in the game as a grinding area kinda of like XV's Malice Dungeons, where bonus resources items/gil/exp were all there!

This has to be the most underwhelming ultimate weapon in RPG history, what do you even need it for if you can only get it at the end of the game, for the second time mind you, when there's only the last boss left to fight? That's just stupid. Most games would let you get the weapon at the end of the game so you can bring it over to Ng+ and use it to clear secret bosses and stuff like that. Major miss IMO
I don’t like this new final fantasy where you have to play the game twice to get stuff everything could be achieved on the first play through in the old days. I could get a platinum troph in ff7R because of the stupid dress thing this is ridiculous

What a waste. Maybe if there was actual post-game content I'd feel encouraged but no, here's a cool sword for one fight. And the first person that spouts BS about all other FF games being that way, they should check their history. Even as recently as FFXV you had tons of post-game stuff you could do.
Ng+ is only really appealing if their are significant changes to the mobs and bosses mechanics. They story would be a slog to grind through a second time.

I sort of miss how end most game gear were acquired from older FF titles like 4 and 6. You needed to earn these powerful gear by finding and defeating certain tough enemies. It's a shame Square Enix didn't use this method in FF16. In FF4, Cecil's most powerful sword was earned by finding a secret location and defeating a ridiculously powerful enemy. The weapon was well worth the effort though.
And the most powerful weapon in FF9 was Excalibur which could only be obtained by crossing a shiny secret bridge which closes in 10 hours. Requiring you to skip all sidequests 😂
I wasn’t upgrading my blade in my first play through I just crafted what I could. Can anyone tell me if I MUST in final fantasy mode constantly upgrade the “imperial infantry blade +1” or can I just craft the new blade with the materials I get from eikon fights?
When I started the new game plus a while ago, blackthorn sold weapons with +4 already on them. I would imagine that, within new game plus, you can still upgrade them to max which is 5 I think.

Final Fantasy mode is New Game plus. Why would you go to Normal mode after Final Fantasy mode?
