Hi Nancy, I'm so glad that the video inspired you to try something new. Be sure to check out the OJA's other videos on cast in place stones. You'll find them under the Casting section on our playlist at: www.onlinejewelryacademy.com. Thanks for your support! : )
I was wondering if you have ever tried this process with turquoise? I have some pieces of turquoise that I have been wanting to set into a silver pendant but this is the first video I have seen showing how to cast any kind of a rock in with the metal. Thanks,
Hi Calin, I've only performed direct casting with cuttle fish bones, charcoal and Delft Clay. My understanding is that Delft Clay is essentially sand casting (silica) made somewhat easier. If you are good at traditional sand casting techniques, I encourage you to try the cast in place process using that technique. Even if you were to switch to Delft Clay, you would find that there is still a learning curve associated with the process. If you can, try both methods and see which you prefer. Good luck with your creative projects. Thanks for your support! : )

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, I won’t be doing in-person demonstrations or workshops. For now, you’ll just have to watch the videos. 😀
