@@reinron yeah it is technically but they aren’t part of PIGS and generally are not included as Southern Europe. France have a far greater economy and a lighter complexion so those are the probable reasons why they aren’t included, but they are not regarded as a Southern European nation

I'm not going to lie, I was supporting Italy all the way, and like many others I wasn't a big fan of the english atmosphere around this tournament, but I feel sorry for you and the good english football fans, going through such a defeat after your already bad history with pens must hurt badly. I'm spanish and I remember as a kid going through defeats like this and everybody saying we would never make it, we were a quarter-final choking nation, but as we all know by now things can change drastically from one competition to the next one and from one generation of footballers to another. I think England is having a very good period right now, reaching semis in the world cup and being so close to this Euros' cup, and you have a brilliant generation of youngsters coming through the ranks, plus the best football league system in the world with the best economic management of all countries, so there's definitely a lot of potential there to explode as a nation in internarional competitions, and after the last two of those, I don't think anyone can really discard you from amongs the favorites to win the following ones. Sometimes it's in these kind of scenarios when you feel you've hit rock bottom when you find the strength to come back stronger than ever. Glad you are still able to see the positives in that second place, wish some others could as well and weren't behaving the way they did yesterday after the match, because what's really going to be hard to recover from is the bad image some of the english fans have shown to the world.

The "It's Coming home" is indeed a self-deprecating song, but both me and you, Spen, know how the context was twisted by the fans, and those chanting it in the face of every team at Euros/replying in SM (combined with constant diving of the likes of Sterling) made it obnoxious to a level when every country was rooting against ENG in the final. Wish you showed more footage from the stadium at the end with no narration too by the way. Love ya!
I was a neutral fan (Portugal fan here). I wanted England to win just for Spencer. Although I believe the English fans in general DID NOT deserve this win. They are a disgrace to football. So in the end I'm glad that Italy won.

Italian here, England did a great campaign, solid in the back, youngsters upfront with plenty of quality. This team can do great things in Qatar, it's just the first steps in a bigger process. Better start going to finals and losing than going home early: it hurts, sure, but accumulating experience on these levels is crucial for future success. This Euro was like the world cup without south American teams, you managed to get second and it's crazy good, next time I have no doubt about an England team fighting for the win.

I love you Spen, love the videos, and because of that I've been supporting England as my second team in the tournaments, behind Portugal, but because of the poor behavior of a lot of your fans, I supported Italy in the final... You know, it's good that you post these kind of videos.
I mean, of course we *know* that not all English fans are terrible, but seeing some of you having proper behaviour during hte match, and even pointing out the booing the anthem thing, is actually encouraging, after everything England fans have done in this tournament.
I know it hurts, I have seen so many semifinals and finals of the Italian national squad, and we lost a few of them, but I have seen triumphs as well...... but England is a good team, and many young talents, so be optimistic about the next major tournament!!!!!

Great video, Spence! Now we’re onto the next day, you can sit back and reflect on it a little bit better. The fact we’ve now gone from a semi final into a final in back to back majors (semi final in the nations league also), it shows we’re heading in the right direction. The team and Southgate aren’t finished articles & some of the decision making last night might show that, but I maintain the standpoint that he’s the right man to stick with and get behind. He’s now given us joy most of us have never experienced in back to back tournaments, he’s given us something we can actually believe in & something we believe that we can achieve. This squad is only going to get stronger. Roll onto Qatar in 2022. Forever proud to be English 🏴

The reason I’m mad at Southgate is this: he knows better than anyone the psychological damage that a missed PK can take on a player’s life, and with what he knows, he turns around and foists this burden on a mere child. He sacrificed Saka’s life with his decision and for that he must be held accountable.
Rubbish. Gareth purposely took full responsibility for the shootout despite Saka volunteering himself so that the blame wouldn’t be directed at him rather than Saka. He should never have let Saka volunteer but if he wanted to take one and others didn’t then you can’t do anything else
@@johnwhittaker311 Southgate picked the Penalty takers based on their performance in training spot kicks. Saka was most likely the fifth best outfield guy in training actually on the pitch.

He’s taking the entire blame for the shootout so that people didn’t go piling even more pain and misery on Saka than the few people already have

As Italian supporter I think your video is the best among the many on YT. You have shown the emotions, expectations, joy and disappointment of English supporters but also Italians. I do agree with your final analysis. This English squad is strong and this defeat (only at penalty) will make some young players grow a lot. Your trainer, Gareth Southgate is super and able to motivate his players and I am sure that in Qatar, England will have a great chance to win. In my humble opinion what England mostly needs is a striker of the like of Jamie Wardy (just to make an example when he scored almost every match during the victorious Leicester run for Premier league). A striker able to finalize the great work of midfield led by this great player as Harry Kane. Italian speakers that night on national TV were full of praise for his talent and leadership. I really hope you'll do it because you deserve it. The passion you showed on this video is exactly like my/our passion for football. We also lost a world cup at penalties vs Brazil in 1994 (all Italians still remember when our star Roberto Baggio missed a decisive penalty), the loss at world cup 1990 in Italy (!) in semifinal at penalties vs Argentina, one Europe cup vs France with the bloody "golden goal".
