Definitely my favorite in the series. I wish the boss battles were a bit more epic and the OST was a little more memorable (see 3 for both) but it’s easily the best entry so far. Looking forward to see what’s next and hey, DLC would be nice.
Epic isn't what the series should be. 1 & 2 are the only good Pikmin games because they properly capture the beauty and death that is inherent in nature on a scale that far better suits the premise of the series.
@@xerobeat9142 Also, you say this but seem to completely ignore that Pikmin 2 gave us some of the most epic things in the series. Like, you can’t seriously argue that stuff like the Waterwraith, Man-at-Legs, and Titan Dweevil aren’t epic
As a Pikmin fanatic it makes me pretty happy you think this highly of 4! Yeah this game was soooo worth the long wait! If they manage to fix the little cracks it has them they can create the perfect game in 5
The last time I played Pikmin, was on the GameCube. Loved its concept, and the environment, + atmosphere was neat Good to know the fourth entry continues the journey. Also lots of feels when you lose those lil buddies Excellent review
Pikmin 4 is gorgeous, well designed, and fun, but the lack of difficulty and handholding held it back from being the best Pikmin game and beating 2. The rewind feature, Oatchi, and being able to one shot bosses with his charge definitely bring down the overall tension of going through caves, didn't give me the same anxiety I had in 2, which some people might not miss lol. I'm all for accessibility but I wish they gave us options like in 3 for an "Ultra-spicy mode" or something for veteran players
Good job, Josie. We were there when we saw you play some and "beat" the game and we saw the credits... but there's always more to do in this game. I still haven't picked up the game yet myself, but I still want to because of how gorgeous of a game it is on Switch, but at the same time my brief Pikmin interest has waned despite the brief nostalgia rush of playing Pikmin 1 and 2 HD remasters I think I understand why some people are hesitant to try the series... at least I did like the series for a time but I think I too have kinda moved on from the series somewhat but I am happy to see Pikmin 4 doing well. I am not sure I quite agree with Miyamoto's classification of genre of the series... I took interest in the game because I was getting into Real Time Strategy games like Age of Empires back in the day, so was intruiged Nintendo would try their hand in such a genre.
Love PIkmin 4! It's a great game and an excellent evolution of the series IMO. I would love a Pikmin 5... and 6... and 7... and just a full on continuation of the franchise because I adore it so much.
Josie your breakdowns of games your in depth reviews makes me wanna play a game I’ve never played before. Your a lot better then most UA-camrs who have been doing this for many many years. Keep up the great work….. Keep Smiling it’s Beautiful
“Hey Pikmin 4! The caves in Tears of the Kingdom called, and they want their EVERYTHING back!” I STILL need to play this flippin game. What the heck am I doing? I enjoyed the demo but… gah! I need to get my procrastination checked out. Oh, and of course, loved the review 😊 And here’s a cool video idea: Rank all the Pikmin 🌱
I'm on my second playthrough to 100% it again. It has a lot of content, graphically impressive, and just pure fun all around. Tears of the kingdom is the better game but if it didn't exist, pikmin 4 would by far be game of the year. Pikmin 4 should be a game of the year contender as well.
The real 2 player part is Dandori Battles... They are so fun especially with someone who likes Pikmin and knows the game basics... fun battles. I hope they add online someday. Spoiler question: Is the post game after you save pikmin? Or is it after finding Louie? Cause im spending way more time on the run to find Louie than leading up to saving Olimar. Loving the long game and difficulty (especailly those dandori challenges)
Ice Pikmin sounds like ice pick men which sounds like a horror movie or a rap group or something So that's something Or maybe it isn't. Maybe it's nothing. It's probably nothing.
I hhhhhaaaaatttteee that night mode wastes a whole day. I'm trying to beat the game as fast as I can, and it's required to do 3 nights to unlock bernard/hero's hideaway. what a waste, it should just be that during the night you can go do this overnight and not waste time. In fact, they should've made each stage in night mode connect to the base that you occupied during the day. So if you want to reach a new night mode stage, you have to set your base to a new spot on the map by sunset; if your base is at an old spot, you can play the stage but get no glow sap. Considering the whole game is based around dandori and efficiency, I just wish that they made it more seamless so you could strategize how to get glow sap without wasting extra days needlessly. It's literally the only part of the game that grates on me though, since I've beaten the first four stages in 2 days each, but I'm on like day 14 or something when I feel like I should be on day 9 ( this is because of 3 nights to unlock bernard, plus a night to cure olimar, plus the first day is a throwaway) And I know that the extra days are just placebo, essentially, but there was a missed opportunity here in the form of strategizing where your base is at the end of the day, etc. Plus part of the dandori side of the game is the achievement of beating the game with real low day counts. big number bad
The only thing I hate about Pikmin 4 (apart from the co op) is how poorly balanced everything is..... every common enemy (and even most of the bosses) in the game are easy to defeat compared to previous games..... and what's worst is how many OP thing you have at your disposal Oatchi can become extremely powerful early in the game thanks to his charge and carrying capasity (to the point where he can swallow entire enemies whole), and you can even make him resistant to every single hazard in the game. Ice, Purple, and Rock Pikmin are so powerful that a single charge from Oatchi is going to guarantee an instant victory when facing most of the bosses in the game. You can equip a lot of items that make 100% completing the game a walk in the park (like the Pluckaphone or the Call all Pikmin). Finally, if any of your Pikmin die, you can simply rewind time, so that alone is extremely broken Pikmin 4 is an excelent game that I would 100% recommend, but the game is extremely easy to complete, to the point where it feels like the entire game is on Baby difficulty (I'm still salty how they butchered Submerged Castle)
EXCUSE ME MISS,STEP AWAY FROM MY PIKMIN!! THEY ARE NOT EDIBLE!! 😂😂 I sadly missed this releasing. And i love this series. I wish nintendo would treat this like a main series because to me it is. It’s peak Nintendo.
Oh I know you enjoyed it! RIP those poor pikmin 😢
Definitely my favorite in the series. I wish the boss battles were a bit more epic and the OST was a little more memorable (see 3 for both) but it’s easily the best entry so far. Looking forward to see what’s next and hey, DLC would be nice.
You at least gotta admit that Pikmin 4’s final boss theme was a banger though
Oh hell yeah, certified banger

I like your cadence in this video. It’s focused without seeming scripted. Very conversational and fun.
Yo! Love to see more and more people into pikmin!
OG pikmin fans will remember bulbmin
I'm always hyped when my 2nd favorite Nintendo UA-camr drops a review!

Just live another 30 years and you should be able to.
Loved pikmin when I was a kid. Tryna figure everything out with no help of my brothers. Love the games now into my 20s. Goated series
Best described as a action puzzle game. Fun game, on the easy side but not in a bad way.

Best series of all time. And a super well made review! Subbed
Glad you enjoyed it!
I dont think its close to the best series of all time but i do think its a very underrated and under appreciated series
@@Tampafan33 Thanks for your opinion Tampafan. I think Pikmin is the best series of all time.
I will probably wait for a sale and pick it up then Josie. I played the demo but wasn't completely sold for the full price.
Its perfect
"Actually"? Pikmin has an amazing track record why is 4 being good a surprise?
0:44 they can't carry shiny treasures to the onion, those can only be carried to the ship.
Lol my b the words get jumbled sometimes yk what i mean tho
Nothing but bangers this year
TLDR: it's the game of the century and it will never be beat, its the absolute peak game
You actually need to drown oatchi in order for him to swim. its bad advice to warn people since this needs to happen to get the ability.

Awesome pikmin review!!
Found you yesterday through gamexplain. I was wondering if you were going to talk about Pikmin 4 so this is great timing!

Game of the year will not be pikmin 4. Not even a contender.
I really liked it, especially as a dog lover I was extremely satisfied with how much the game was a dog lover game
Pikmin have taken over my life, they’re crawling under my skin, emerging from the walls. I’ll eat sleep dream and shit Pikmin every day forever.
The real 2 player part is Dandori Battles... They are so fun especially with someone who likes Pikmin and knows the game basics... fun battles. I hope they add online someday.

I thought having Wally as a second captain would have made sense for coop
I think I’m buying the game this weekend!
1:09 the Pikmin timeline is:
Pikmin 1 Pikmin 2 Pikmin 3
Or
Pikmin 4 Pikmin 3
some peoples favorite pikmin types are bulbmin and puffmin.... I'm just gonna leave that there.....
yeah
Ice Pikmin sounds like ice pick men which sounds like a horror movie or a rap group or something
So that's something
Or maybe it isn't. Maybe it's nothing. It's probably nothing.
Nothing to add. 👍Pikmin ´n Josie!
Great review, Josie! I enjoy hearing your thoughts on Game and Talk so I just subscribed.
Hi Josie are you still doing spawnwave? Sorry for asking here wasn’t the same without your insight.
No, Not all Pikmin are in this game...... The Mushroom Pikmin and Bulbmin are completely removed! And Bulbmin is my favorite! 😢
nice review 😁🤙👍👍
Target gave you a free Keychain with purchase.
I have 55 hours in my first play through…
Is 5 inches enough? Rgt 85 question by do way
PikWIN baby!
Great game!
5:26 You lie... Bulbmin aren't in this game. Bulbmin are the best pikmin.
