    Stefan, thank you for a superb tutorial on the re-assembly of the 500 engine. I am currently busy restoring a 479cc Nuova engine from 1958.

    Stefan thank you so much. I’ve never re built an engine before but now, with the help of your two excellent videos, I have. I’m stuck on the dynamo currently, so if you are doing another video can you do it soon! Thanks again, brilliant.

    And to think that the 500 was supposed to be a simpler version of the 600. It is a good job that Fiat decided on 2 cilinders and not 4. The real fun on the 500 is when you need to change the driving shafts on the gearbox. On The 600. Half an hour. On the 500 you got to take the gearbox out and take it apart.

    Hi Stefan, thank you very much for your videos which are very helpful. I am in the process to rebuild the same engine but I have trouble to find the correct TDC, as showed in your video. I found one on Ebay in UK with this description " A-TP93 TDC Position Alfa Romeo Fiat for dial Gauge 2 - 4 stroke petrol engines ". Is this the correct TDC for this engine ? Thank you.

    Hi mate, great video just wondering I’m rebuilding the 500F motor and I’ve set the timing chain points as per spec so the 2 bots point to Each other but should the dizzy rotor be pointing towards the engine ?? Or should it be pointing to cylinder 1 .

    Have read of the 500/126 engine being capable of growing to as much as 750-850cc+ for motorsport use (not sure what the maximum displacement reached is though), however curious to know whether Fiat themselves could have easily further enlarged the air-cooled 652cc or water-cooled 704cc to at least 750cc without any issues for road-going use?

    Are you sure about the valve clearance? In 126p it was 0.25mm for exhaust and 0.2mm for intakes. And you have to readjust them after a couple of kilometres

    • @only1stefan
      @only1stefan  3 роки тому +1

      well the book sais .15 for exhaust and intake but i know alot of people and myself included do .10 for exhaust and .8 for inlet as it does not get as hot it just makes for a quiter engine and if your running a hotter cam it makes sence also bear in mind i check mine regualy

    • @S7midnight
      @S7midnight 3 роки тому

      @@only1stefan thanks for the answer! Maybe the clearances are different for fiat 500. I remember that my 126p was difficult to start when the valves were too tight. Ps you should post more often and do some vids with the fiat 👍 Great channel!

    • @only1stefan
      @only1stefan  3 роки тому +2

      @@S7midnight i normaly set the clearances hot not cold if you set them cold thats when you will have hot start problems with thoes clearances. im going to try to post more :-)
