How England Can BEAT Spain In The Final
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лип 2024
- It all comes down to this for England. After winning by the skin of their teeth against Slovakia, then winning on penalties against the Swiss and again at the death against the Netherlands - they now face an imperious looking Spain side before writing their names in the history books. If England get a few things right on the day... They just might do it.

The good news is that the point on the pitch where we’ve been complaining that Bellingham, Kane and Foden all seem congregate is exactly where Rodri likes to be. That lack of balance may work to our advantage for once
😂😂
Excellent point
Yeah, but they are usually congregating behind Rodri, not in front of him. But Bellingham or Foden dropping deep along with Rice, the second best player in the world in his position behind Rodri, I think we can frustrate Spain.
That's actually more informative and helpful then the rest of the video😂
@@512Squared 😂 This is funny. France came against Spain as one of the best defensive side
They conceded 2 goals
What does England have up their sleeves
U can't ignore Dani Olmo, been possibly the player of the tournament and started from the bench half the time. It's gonna be a good game
Southgate will ignore him when he comes on by not making changes quick enough and sticking to his plan A as usual.
He's been immense

@@Dabayare we’re in the final chill with this XD
It will be so sweet if we win and all of you clones have to eat your words
It wasn’t about all the players that can hurt England, it was just mainly highlighting how we can beat them, and the main threat which is at the beating heart of everything Spain do good, Rodri.
Uses Mainoo in the thumbnail… doesn’t mention the fact he’s already had Rodri on toast in one final this year.
Mainoo vs Rodri round 2 let’s goooo
Ten Haag dropped Hojland that day and flooded midfield , a masterstroke in my opinion...would Southgate consider doing the same and drop Kane? Probably not...
@@christillcock510been praying for it all tournament. Guess it is encouraging that he’s slowly been taking Kane off earlier and earlier each match. Maybe he finally rips off the band aid
That can be a disadvantage though. Rodri knows what went wrong last time and won’t be taken by surprise again😅
Different teams different game
The problem England have is Spain realistically will create four goals scoring opportunities in each half.
Doesn't matter, England will still beat them.
But, England will be chasing the game until the very end.
Spain will score first, then England will equalize in the first half.
Second half, Spain will score again, then England will chase the game only to equalize at the very end of the game, but then score again straight after before the final whistle blows!
Apart from they were outscored on xg by croatia germany and france. They’ve scraped through last 2 games nothing to be frightened of
@@DogSerious😂how can u just predict the whole thing?
@@DogSeriousAlways some fucking clairvoyant in the comments.
Kane on the bench to start … Watkins to start…he won us a place in the final FFS. 🏆
Ways England can beat Spain:
- A volcano erupts at Spain's training camp
- A meteor stikes the Spain team bus on the way to the game
- Poison their food at the hotel
- Claymore mines in Spanish dressing room
- Cheat so much even Argentinians would be shocked
LOL
Lol thanks for the laugh but it will be tough for 🏴
Id pay good money for all of these. Id actualy be really happy if England cheated so hard and we got to play argentina and did the same there winning every goal by hand of God. would be sweet sweet revenge

It is coming home, a small minority of you have realised you’ve been caught up in anti-English algorithms but the reality is. It’s coming home, end of. 🏴🏆
His choice of substitutions have not been clever and they have always been late. All he had to do was tune into ITV, they called his substitutions every single time just 10 - 20 minutes earlier than Southgate did it. In a way you could say his substitutions for Kane were poor as Kane shouldn't have started in the first place. There has possibly been a dozen or so times an England player is ready to cross it into the box and Kane is 30 yards away casually strolling about.
Couldn't agree more. Everyone praising Southgate for the Ollie sub has lost the plot. If it should tell you anything, it's that Ollie should've been starting for Kane from the 2nd or 3rd game of the tournament. Southgate's subs are too late every game. He uses too few subs. Or else his subs are firesale plans where he makes a massive round of subs just throwing things out there hoping someone will do something great for him. Even his long term team selection across the tournament has been horrible. Does no one remember the trent/callagher/mainoo fiasco in midfield?
@@toddschoonover5919 Or AT MINIMUM being sent on at half time. It beggars belief that Southgate is getting credit for this, by 60 mins against the Dutch I was screaming loudly for Watkins, Palmer, and Eze too - esp Ollie bc you could see balls going into the box and Kane being outside the 18 yard area.
I think you'll find the record proves otherwise. Southgate likes to do late substitutions because it allows the sub to have more space and time against tired defenders, which increase their chances of a successful "moment". It also gives him the chance to frame the final moments of a game as he wants it....after the opposition have made their play.
@@toddschoonover5919 if only you were in charge, instead of our most successful manager ever. Your first move, to not play our best goal-scorer, joint top scorer in the tournament, is rare football management genius. 👏👏👏👏

Prior to this video I was thinking we have no chance if Kane is on the pitch, playing as he has been, as a bit-part midfielder. After watching this video I’m now thinking, maybe we need him playing as he has been, as a bit-part midfielder, in order to stifle Rodri with our turgid football before subbing him off to go for a winner in the 90th minute! 🤷♂️
Also, don’t forget the likes of Yamal don’t play a full 90 atm! So when those subs are made is the perfect time to strike
That Duke Of Edinburgh's Award comment made me laugh loudly out loud 😂 also, how do you pronounce well known players names wrong? 🤔😂
In 1966 we had ManU's Nobbie; in 2024 we have ManU's Kobbie. Coincidence? I think not.
I'm from the future. Bowen is brought on to take a pen in the shootout and wins it with his first and only kick of the tournament. Don't tell anyone.
“…Harry belting the ball, and Kobbie dancing…”
Last time I watched one of your videos you told us that Gakpo was amazing and going to threaten England. The man didn’t even turn up in the semi! Bring back Clery!!
The previous match is already a good blueprint for winning games convincingly - play Foden in the right, Bellingham left, and play Watkins/Toney early on with Kane. Having Harry Kane as the only striker means we don't have a proper CF, because he always drops back like a False 9 waiting for someone else to run towards the box like Son did for him in Tottenham. Good luck England! It's coming home.
You clearly have no idea what happened in that game lol.
But Spain have seen that blueprint and will adjust for it
Bellingham is wasted on the left. The system doesn’t really accommodate his style which is to give him more freedom, but, he can defend from the front so I think he could be put in the middle.
@@daenbrown830I'm sorry are we watching a different game? I saw a struggling slightly better England side who barely (luckily?) won but yeah. whatever.
@markgregorygacosta531 no what you saw was a team made to look good by the dutch tactics, once they changed their formation after 35 minutes we went back to our normal level and they took control. If we were really better that would not have happened. Spain tonight showed us the difference, sure you can have moments and win but overall our football was not good enough to win this tournament, but we still could of won it and we should still be proud

@@i-am-batman8538 calm down mate. Who cares?
I actually think the worst thing Spain can do is attack which they seem to do every single game. Attacking will give England the counter chances that will surely make the difference. Spain's defence isn't great and with Watkins in particular making his runs I really do think this isn't as one sided as people seem to fear. I honestly think England will do it but I do think it will be a very close affair with just one goal in it and I see that goal in extra time just as every England fan starts to dread the pens.
Greetings from Madrid. You' re right 100%, Spain's Achilles Heel is a fast counter attack, our defense is not a disaster but it's far away in terms of quality for example like the Frenchies.
This is why we must start Watkins. I don't think we will though, unfortunately.
For once I don’t dread penalties. England have become good at them due to past experiences so I genuinely believe that’s englands best chance of beating Spain
@@Dagg73fortunately for you, fast breaks are also our Achilles. We’re good at holding possession so if I was Spain I’d let us have the ball and look to counter.
@@dylvasey Watkins is on fire, totally agreed. Kane is strong but not so fast as the villain:) By the way the Premiere League is EXTREMELY popular here in Spain, there are a huge of fans watching the matches every weekend. It's ironic but in Spain we are MUCH MORE SCARED from The English squad than the others teams, because we know all your players perfectly.
Spain doesn't play with individuals. They only enhance with them if ever the need arise.
They rather play with a team that finds solutions. Germany was knocked out of the competition by a header from Mikel Merirno from a Dani Olmo cross. Those roles weren't expected to play Germany out, but they did.
Germany not getting a pen obviously helped
Offside… and kroos red card… cry more
@@QuotidianStupidityfullkrug was in offside before cucurellas hand
The substitutions are where we get closer to the team that should have started, every time.
BTW it was Watkins AND Palmer. That goal was worked like a set piece. The pair came on to engineer that goal against a tired defense. Those folks saying they should have started, haven't really thought it through.
It wasn't because they were tired, it was because they were a high line
based on the last 4 weeks, Southgate will pick the same team, Kane and co will be toothless and England will not have time to come back to the game after the subs because Spain is too good. 2-0 or 2-1 Spain wins
great video as usal, this channel is reallty underrated, rwally helped me grow my football perspective!
They lost Rodri and still won. Because Southgate left Kane on and Saka far too long, they were exhausted and Saka failed to mark Cucu. Turns out Spain didn’t need Rodri at all in the end
I don't know what you're talking about? Holland were not playing deep, the second half saw them press and the game was played mostly in England's half. There was therefore space behind the Dutch defence which was why Ollie Watkins was a better pick than Ivan Toney as he holds the ball up well where as Ollie Watkins is very good at breaking through and getting around the back. Southgate has a plethora of superb players, his job is fairly straightforward. He just needs the balls and clarity of mind to make the right decision at the right time. I don't think he is very good at that. He was lucky, because thankfully they didn't score when they were in the ascendancy.
What Southgate is good at is generating a positive team spirit, something I don't think England have had since Terry Venables. Part of that is a strong loyalty to players, but that may be our undoing. The way Kane is playing is perfect for the Spanish. They press high and he doesn't have the pace or inclination to exploit the resulting space behind their defence. The Spanish can therefore push up all the time! He also appears to lack physicality meaning he can't hold the ball up and help England move up the pitch and counter the Spanish press.
Sir Alf Ramsey in 1966, made the tough decision of keeping Geoff Hurst as his number 9 meaning, the Great Jimmy Greaves was left out. The rest is history. It's a shame Southgate does not have what it takes to make such decisions.
Let's hope it doesn't cost England, but I think it will.
Yes we all love Cleary but this fella put in a good innings 👏👏
Great analysis, learnt loads and yet again I can appear like the expert when discussing football with mates
Spain are a 45 minute site who have ridden their luck against both France and even more so against Germany. I'm pretty confident England will win. Rice always seems to have a good match up against Rodri, when France got physical in second half, Spain were under the cosh and luckily for them France's finishing was really poor - could have had 2 or 3.
How do you choose the best locations for shooting videos like this?
Think you’re giving Southgate far too much credit. No way did he think Watkins was going to score that goal because he did it once against Chelsea. Southgate has got his tactics wrong every game this tournament and the individual quality of our players have bailed him out.
This aged well...

Bellingham and super subs won't let England lose. We can play good or badly and still win this game. We've all seen it in the tournament already.
I sort of like the way you guys laugh your way through saying England are in the final. That’s because with your levels of insight you know it’s a joke situation?
If they win? Reminds me of that Des O’Connor line: ‘when I used to tell people I wanted to be a comedian, they laughed. Well they’re not laughing now are they?’
Watching from Costa Rica, but supporting England since my childhood. It’s coming home?
The thing with this Spain team is that they have been the best TEAM in this tournament and do have a handful of world class players. But for me they don't have the most talented team in the tournament. Before it started, most people had them as a quarter final side at best. Now people are going on as if no England player could get into the Spanish side in a combined 15.
England have better individuals overall than this Spanish side and while Spain deserves to be favourites, sometimes individual talent can turn up on the day and outplay a team that has been playing better in the tournament.
England's best individual has been Felix Zwayer
The border of the video is red but this lad is in the video, we want clerry
You can't give southgate credit for his panic subs that he should've made long beforehand in each game, get a grip? I‘m not from the UK and hope it’s coming home (won’t probably, Spain will win 3:0)
I have appreciated these videos through the tournament. A couple of critical points though, meant in kind questioning: 1) the claim that Holland were dropping deeper toward the end of the game seems to conflict with Clery’s claim in the previous video about it that Watkins came on because Holland were pressing up more and leaving space in behind for Ollie to attack. 2) using the example of Chelsea v Man City as an example of how to stop Rodri doesn’t make the most sense given that City still scored four goals in that game, including a goal for Rodri.
Bellingham needs to smother Rodri...although maybe Bellingham will be needed to help on the left, especially tracking Carvajal. So maybe Foden will also need to step up here. Team mates marking team mates could be interesting.
Mainoo will be the one to mark Rodri
During the France/Spain match, France did catch them out a couple of times and got a goal. Goes to show it can be done. Needs to be a real nasty grinding game if England stand a chance,
Spain lost two defenders that game, they were suspended. They will play the final
@@mayaib2135 That's worse because?
@@Kingbruce115self explanatory, those two players were essential for the win against Germany, and the fact they were able to get through against France by having a 38 year old man defend against Mbappe should be a worry

I think the solution to Yamal is to not let him have the ball too much, which in turn comes back to not giving Rodri any freedom.
Cut the funnies and it would be much better
Nice analysis, Mainoo has done well against Rhodri I'd look out for this and how Spain deal with Bellingham who I see scoring in this game
So Gareth is a genius now. Wow its amazing how things change
Having watched the game, England set up with Kane, Foden & Bellibgham all playibg No.10 and nobody as a 9 or 8 & it did not matter when Rodri went off at HT. These three closed their own attacking space. Unlike England; Spain knew their Managers System and Roles in that team, no matter who played. Kane was running about like a headless chicken, knackered by HT and Bellingham(our best player/ midfielder and goalscorer) on the left side was a shocking decision by Southgate, who was tactically outclassed by a fitter, positive, intensive team who played a high press and dominated the game(70% posession). Time for southgate to retire, and these players need a positive Pep, Klopp or Howe.. they deserve that tactical and football IQ to make England into Winners
Southgate is one of the worst managers I have ever seen in my life how can you say that he made great subs when the subs should have the ones to start the game
Can they play Walker as a left Cb or LB? I know he isn't a left central defender or a left back, but he could have a chance to stop Yamal.
Is he really that good at picking subs? or is it that the team he starts with isn't as good or hungry as the subs.
Maybe he should put them on with more than 5 mins to play and we would get more than 1 goal from them
Anthony Gordon can deal with Yamal

This guy is the only person in Britain who wasn't screaming to get Kane off and Watkins on.
😂 he wasn’t .. Kane off yes , but not all had Watkins coming on , as you imply

I didn't know David Bowie knew so much about football
I thought almost everyone was saying (for most of the tournament) that Kane can't get in behind defences - but Watkins can, so for the love of sweet God get him on the bloody pitch and give him more than 90 seconds...please please...
In your dreams !!!!! England is lucky enough to be in the final as they are such an overrated team. Greetings from Wales
england were the some of the favourites to win the tournament before it even began. with players like kane, foden, bellingham, rice, saka etc. how the fuck do you think they are overrated??? this seems more just like you hate england than actually know anything about football
can't we have Cleary
This guy's good too. Don't piss on his parade bro
Othet dude good, anall
Monk just feels forced. He's obviously talented but his style just isn't natural, especially when compared to Cleary.
Netherlands fans still bouncing 😂😂😂😂
I was calling for Oli Watkins too. It made perfect sense because the Dutch line was high (which is was and not the opposite as you said). Weird analysis
12:08 - Where is Harry Kane? If he was on the penalty spot, we would have a 90% goal. The same situation has happened time and again this tournament.
RE Yamal - I think for starters, don’t wind the kid up a la Rabiot, talking ish in the presser 😅
The issue with having several players flooding Rodris zone ist that spain does not build play with three in the back. If Foden, Saka, Jude and Kane start pressuring Rodri during buildup, Cucurella and Carvajal will be free to connect with the centre backs and Ruiz and Olmo and just evading the press on Rodri. That is what they did against Germany as well and Germany pressed way better than England.
This is the video everybody wants to see
England can beat Spain by keeping the game tight for as long as possible until the key Spanish starters get tired, since the Spanish replacements are relatively weak. Because of this, a good option would be to play defensive counter football for the first hour, then transition into a more possession-based game later. Because of this, my S11 takes Trippier and Trent as WBs, with Watkins starting at CF. With the back 3 picking itself, that just leaves one OM spot - I have picked Saka here as I think he will be helpful for the counter-attacks and can easily drop back to WB later if we need a goal. A key part of this idea is the transition to a more aggressive approach, as I feel England will be favourites in Extra Time. Possible subs are Kane for Watkins; Shaw for Trippier; Foden for Trent; and Palmer for Jude or Mainoo. If behind after 85mins bringing Toney for Walker is the final all-in move. In summary:
watkins
jude-saka
trippier-rice-mainoo-trent
guehi-stones-walker
subs: kane>watkins; shaw>trippier; foden>trent; palmer>jude/mainoo; behind after 85 toney>walker
It's not sexy but I don't care how boringly England have to play if it wins the trophy.
Should have brought Grealish
as cover for 'left back' 😊
Swapping Bellingham for Bowen, win-win as he'll give the Spanish fullback a runaround and also help against Lamal. All good in thinking about how to stop the opposition but play to your strengths first.
That Spanish defence isn't that good so either Watkins or Toney should give them headache as Kane is too easy to defend against.
you did not speak about olmo, cucurella etc no team wins a tournament the way england plays
