The idle tube is supposed be installed in the top half of the carburetor half.......Rachael you need to edit the video! Check out the IH service manual. Please don’t use a drill when you are chasing threads (not good)
I wonder how carbs get ruined after someone watches this video. Looks like somebody gets to sell a carb kit, tube, tap, etc and then gets to sell carb.
The idle tube threads into the carb top, not the bottom. Also the threads are 4-48, not 4-40. If you pull the two halves straight apart, you're less likely to break off the idle tube.
I'm a retired auto mechanic very nice video but she should have use a tap by hand this way you don't make any mistakes I used to drill add modify the Ford carburetors and the Holley carburetors for better gas mileage the particular places I had to drill when modifying a carburetor for mileage used a small manual hand drill I didn't use any type of machine when I drilled carburetors for mileage or for high performance I always feel the holes out my hand I never used a drill with a motor because I was drilling Precision angles in different places on the carburetor I really did enjoy her video
I realize that this is an old post. Is there a reason why you install the idle tube in the base? The idle tube is threaded in on the top part of the Carburetor, just below the idle adjustment screw. You don't show what you did with the original threads, where it usually breaks. It is real easy to drill this piece out and rethread, without having a hole to patch with JB Weld. After looking at the comments, it is obvious that you don't respond to comments, but you should, at the very least, EITHER EDIT THIS VIDEO, OR DELETE IT AND SHOW THE CORRECT PROCEDURE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM.
I bought your Cub complete gasket kit does this cover the final drive gaskets. I have a leak by the left rear tire. I'm new to the restoration process and want to do it right?
I just want to replace the gasket, not rebuild the entire carb. Do i just disconnect the linkages, unbolt the carb from the manifold, split the carb and swap gaskets? Or do i have to pull everything the way you all did prior to removing the actual guts etc
Rachel I am working on two cub tractors when I was cleaning up the carburetors I found that the top of the carburetor where it attaches to me manifold was warped on both of them what do you think I should do get two new ones or is there something I can do to fix the problem
Since you have tractor pulling tips and a dyno available, would you consider doing a test to see a power output difference between a stock style muffler and a straight pipe exhaust?
Had to look up "emulsion tube" Now I know what it's for. I have been looking for cubs locally and have found several in the $1000-1500 range in running condition. Also surprised at the variety of implements available.
Miss Gingell, I rarely comment on videos, but I hope you see this. We met briefly, you and your Dad at the Rantoul Show, talking out our cub collection, and again in Montromery. I am sure you remember the Fosters. Not to be an evil cratique, but I would strongly suggest you remove this video and re-shoot it. Please look up more info in a service manual first. You will have many people pretty much ruin their carburetors. The main issue is the idle tube threads into the upper half of the carb, and I am pretty sure the thread size is 4-48, not 4-40, and please use a hand tap not a drill. regards R. Foster
I have a farmall 100 that needs a carb kit. Where are your kits made? I got one when it arrived it was made in China. Now I wonder if it will work. How can i get one?
Once you have completely taken apart your carburetor it would be a good opportunity to give it a nice paint job to fit the rest of the nicely painted tractor, wouldn't it?
I'm sorry, but that's not how a thread tap was ever intended to be used, nor how one is ever used. Whatever you did by putting it in a drill ruined the inside of the idle tube threads. A tap is not a drill bit. ???
If you are making an instructional video, PLEASE do so at a speed that can be viewed. If I want to, I can speed it up myself! There are many steps that a newcomer will miss, so SLOW IT DOWN! Also, as you have read (I hope!), there are several experienced folks who have pointed out that your remarks about the idle tube are, at the best, misleading, and at the least, totally wrong! If disassembly had been done more carefully, you could have emphasized how fragile that little tube is, and that great care should be used in seperating the halves straight up, without twisting. If the tube IS accidentally broken, the best thing to try is a left hand drill bit to remove the threaded portion. In any case, you would NOT drill through the bowl and use a tap in a drill!!! With your skills at making videos, please go back and make some corrections. Thanks.
Rachael I love your videos, but this one showing a complete rebuild is disgusting and frustrating to watch. It is so frustrating with you going in a really super fast movements. If I wanted that I could do it myself to any video other there. Please do all Videos in NORMAL Real Time Please....No One can follow u and no one can learn from it so it is a wasted video. Thanks'
vous etes bien mignonne mais je comprends rien dans votre langue je suis francais et voudrais faire demarrer mon mac cornic essence dite moi ou je pour faire traduire merci je vous embrasse quand meme
Thank you very much Rachel. Excellent video.
Thanks Rachel I always enjoy your videos
NICE TO SEE A WOMAN WHO KNOWS TRACTORS. I HAVE A 1950 CUB AND WILL DO BUSINESS WITH YOU WHEN I NEED PARTS
Hi Rachel.
Great explanation as always.

Sweet, cute. Both of them, tractor and Rachel.
One of my earliest memories. Is riding on my Dad's lap. While cutting the grass around the house with his cub with a belly mower😆
Nice little tractor/carburetor and beautiful Rachel like allways

4-40 tap in an electric drill? Break that little tap and then you do have problem which is why I would hand tap it.
i know i almost shat myself
The tap to use is 4-48 not 4-40. hope no one follows her bad advice.
no that's what the amish mallet is for

Never going to answer your questions.
I like this old machine, thx for this film !

So good to see a new video thank you very detailed and informative

Wondering what happened between you and Steiner?
Perhaps tapping threads with a cordless drill and banging on fragile parts with a wooden mallet?

Love these examples
Is there a filter between the upper snorkel and the lower air inlet supply pipe?
How do you adjut the float if its out of range?
Do you have a video putting rear axle seal in on a cub thanks

Thank you
A like and comment for your algorithm
Hiii rachel
One is the bowl drain the other is the main jet . Rebuild time .
Great video but why speed up the disassembly?? Would have been nice to watch. Everyone wants to rush videos nowadays. But you slowed it down to talk?
Or turn off fuel petcock.located between tank and sediment. Bulb

Hi
Good luck if your rebuild kit is Chinese. I've found their needles and seats simply won't shut off the gas.
First!
