Of course, it was an illusion. She was just trying to lure me into their church. Eventually she had to let me down. Still, it was amazing for a brief while.

She has a decent voice, but they did a lot of studio doctoring, edited from many takes. They did the same thing with Michelle Pfeiffer when she was in The Fabulous Baker Boys. She was so thrilled by how great she sounded in the movie, she tried doing live club dates. And realized just how much harder live performance is. But it's a good rendition. However it was arrived it. Just don't forget to thank Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart. Who wrote the song. Honestly, anybody with half a voice can make that one sound good. Many have. ;)

Now that was a pleasant surprise. I had never seen or heard about that episode before. Nice job everyone. Who knew she had a secret talent? I do remember about time. Listening to some radio personality talking about how music has changed on the airwaves. Rock' n' Roll just pushed everything else off to the side. And Big Band just faded away. Apparently the writers for this show didn't know about that fact. Thank Goodness and decided to do it anyway.

One of the best TV shows, I ever seen. Bruce Willis was relatively new, but it was like they tailor made the show to show off his talent at humor. I saw Cybil Shepherd in Arizona, on a national holiday, mighta been July 4th. She was singing and talking about the show. I really liked Agnes Dipesto, the secretary, too. The best episode was with Whoopie Goldberg and Judd Nelson. It was a special, like season ending one. Some people are on massively successful TV shows. But then people feel they were somehow duped into watching, because it wasn't that good. Then they trash the show. Never had a problem with knowing I coordinated my week around watching the next episode, 1 year, 10 years or 20 years, later.

As I remember, that whole episode was done as film noire, complete with him playing trumpet in a window with neon lights flashing behind him and his narration, saying ‘because I knew I looked good that way.’ 😂 I also remember she came in with just the bed clothes on, and he said he missed what she said ‘because I was too busy trying to look down the sheet she was wearing.’ 😂 I may have got that all wrong. It was a long time ago. I thought it was wild at the time, all the love/ hate talking over each other at high speed all the time and never quite getting together. Apparently she did sing more than she acted. I’ve been doing that slide up ever since, whenever I sing this song. Thanks for uploading!
This song was meant to be sung in the style as done by Cybill. I prefer it without the horn interrupting her as she was singing. Her style was definitely the best version I have ever heard.

I’ve rewatched all episodes since it finally made it to streaming on Hulu. I still love it, and they were fabulous together ❤ Cybill was an excellent singer. She sings the theme song on her later sitcom titled, appropriately, Cybill. Christine Baranski, Alicia Witt and Dede Pfieffer costar. Very much a feminist show. She’s the real deal.
