Nice. I enjoyed the ride in the 2940. Takes me back to the 3140 Jordan's had. The drone footage was nicely done. Jordan's ran a Claas baler with roto cut about 15 yrs ago. I can't remember the model. Very good baler. The 7120 Magnum always ran it, picked up a lot of hay in a hurry. Can't wait to see more.
I have a 688 new Holland and we have run baleage through it for a neighbor. Make less than 100 for ourselves. Go with what you have for dealers around that you can get parts for. They are all good in there own way until they break down. Great video Mike!
I use an antique 605 F Vermeer. My recommendation is to buy one you can afford and whatever you can get along with. My dad bought a 605F in 1979 and we have used that model exclusively because of the simplicity. Remember the extra technology may not make your hay worth more! We also have to deal with some of the same as youall on where to set the bales so they will not roll somewhere you do not want them to be! Enjoyed the video! you do a great job as always.
Personal opinion here. I have been round baling haylage, dry hay and straw for 30+ years, and if you bale only dry hay and/or straw, every kind of balers will make the job. Wet hay is another world. So far my favorite is my current V451R JD but I demoed last year a Pottinger 150 Pro and it was awesome. Vermeer and McHale are built like panzer tanks, totally indestructible machines
Like the shirt. My son had a 360 and had trouble with the belts twisting so he now has a Rollant 540. It is a fixed chamber but when you bale 4x4 green they are tight as a tick and heavy.
@@chargermopar we take our wheel loader out to the field to load the trailer then I use the skid steer back at the farm to unload them. That will be the next video
@@mikep7810 we have a Claas 260 Variant and it makes a beautiful 4x5 net wrapped bale. Frequently we make 1,100# grass bales. Packed tightly and in fact if you are under 15% moisture, the bales will retain their shape until used.
I've been a subscriber for quite awhile and I don't remember you having a round baler! Must be old age setting in!! 😂😂 Very nice and definitely better then handling all the small square bales!! 👍😎
I get what you are saying about after square bales making round bales... We really don't have a set up for round bales yet. Someday maybe.... Dad always feels that there was more money in selling squares.... Like I said....someday. (SIGH)....
When we had the old rake i was going to put it on the 520 but never did. Our hay fields are miles away from the farm and I needed to make good time staying ahead of the baler
I've got the jd 456 which is a great little 4x5...but maybe you guys would need a bit bigger baler the 456 can eat Hugh windows running it w/ my 2940 5th gear high range!
Its hard to give thoughts on the balers because I haven't used them. I'll have to go around to the dealerships and look at all of them and give thoughts on how they are set up stuff like that
do you wrap your round bales or have a barn to store them in and years ago when i was mowing always had a fox or two show up to eat the mice or moles that i uncoverd while mowing
We put them out back by the silage bags. Usually we butt them up together and they are baled so tight that we only lose a small outside layer. This year I got bale covers to try out and see how they work
Its not that I prefer rounds over squares. When I am in the hay mow stacking thousands of square bales it was nice to have some rounds that I can move around with the wheel loader

Thank you. Yeah that baler of his can sure eat hay fast. It didn't take him long to catch up to me
Great video Mike! Loved hearing the turbo on the 4440 when it was idling.👍
Thanks Scott. Its too bad I didn't get more video with sound of that 4440
Thx for sharing , greetings from Belgium
Thank you for watching
Great video like always. You are doing a fine job. Thanks from Sweden
Thank you Johansson. I appreciate it
Great video Mike
Thank you Paul
Very nice hay Mike great video
Thank you Paul. We were pretty happy with the hay

Thats the key right there Daniel. The sale is only part of it. Its the parts and service that is just as important
So true

Thanks Paul. I'm not so much concerned with the extra technology. I look at the mechanical things and ease of service and stuff like that
Great video Mike, Nothing like green power getting the job done.
Thanks Bradley. Couple nice ones out there getting the job done
Some good looking hayfields Mike, I see y’all get to play bowling with bales sometimes😁 looks like ya gotta strike👍🏻keep it up guys enjoy it🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Haha, thats exactly where Dusty wanted to put that bale

Thanks Dominique. Right now we only bale dry hay but making a purchase like that it would be nice to be able to go make some baleage also

Haha thanks Jim. I had those shirts made up thinking Dusty would get a kick out of them
Nice to see you rolling some hay.
Its nice to be rolling some hay
Awesome 👍 weather looks good 👍 nice crop
It was a beautiful day. Perfect day for making some hay
Growing up we used a Hesston Round Baler, it made the smaller size bales and did a fantastic job.
I haven't seen too many Hesstons around me
Great footage, love it . Especially the John Deeres.
Thanks Dennis. Gotta love the old John Deeres working together
good job mike greetings from burley idaho
Thanks Carlos
Great drone coverage "
Thanks Robert. I love the sites from the drone
I always look forward to the loading and moving bales.
I enjoy loading and moving bales too
@@mikep7810 Do you use mostly the tractor or skid steer?
@@chargermopar we take our wheel loader out to the field to load the trailer then I use the skid steer back at the farm to unload them. That will be the next video
Thats a good looking, tight bale!
Yeah those Claas balers do make a really nice bale
A great vid! Hay looks good! Have fun!!
Thanks Gene. I was pretty happy with the hay
Great awesome video mike
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Looks like nice dry hay
It was some pretty nice dry hay. Made nice bales
John Deere is the best and easiest to work on replacing bearings.
Thanks David. Thats good to know
Hay looks awesome 😎
Thanks Clint.
@@mikep7810 you betcha!
Nice windrows, didn't look like the baler had to do much weaving because of the nice, full windrows. Claas 360 Variant is a nice baler.
Thank you Bill. You are right, that claas baler is a real nice baler. Makes a great bale

I got a 638 new holland, dry hay only with twine tie. Was looking to upgrade to one with silage capabilities for fall baling.
Yeah it would be nice to be able to do fall baling too
I've been a subscriber for quite awhile and I don't remember you having a round baler! Must be old age setting in!! 😂😂 Very nice and definitely better then handling all the small square bales!! 👍😎
Well that's why I should watch the whole video before I comment!! 😂😂
Haha glad you enjoyed the video Dennis. Yeah its always nice to have a break for the squares with some round bales
I get what you are saying about after square bales making round bales... We really don't have a set up for round bales yet. Someday maybe.... Dad always feels that there was more money in selling squares.... Like I said....someday. (SIGH)....
Thats why we do both round and square. We have the squares if we want to sell them
Ever thought about stepping back in time and making hay with putt putts?
When we had the old rake i was going to put it on the 520 but never did. Our hay fields are miles away from the farm and I needed to make good time staying ahead of the baler
Great video Mike. Gotta make hay when the sun shines… you almost done with hay yet?
Getting there. Gotta fill the other half of the barn then load a semi trailer
Good looking hay Mike.
Is it grass hay, alfalfa, or a mix?
Thank you. Its a grass mix

John Deere did have a 450M on the lot that looked pretty nice
Thoughts on the jd baler vs huhn? New holland, etc

Think you’re gonna be looking for a tandem rake before you get a baler, lol.
Haha I know right. That crossed my mind a few times while I was raking
Why do you prefer round bales instead of squares?
Its not that I prefer rounds over squares. When I am in the hay mow stacking thousands of square bales it was nice to have some rounds that I can move around with the wheel loader
Bale weight 12-14 hundred lbs ? Stay safe , enjoy !
Thanks Robert. Yeah probably around there
How did I get here.
Not sure, but welcome
Didn't take much for him to catch up to ya
Not at all, especially when I'm doubling rows. His baler will eat that hay pretty quick
Clause all the way nothing like a tiger bail
That Claas baler sure does make a nice bale
Are your tractors 🚜 air conditioner?
The 2940 that I was raking in has it but wasn't working that day
15:43 Nice aim.
Haha, thats exactly where Dusty wanted to put that bale
