    Miracle is an understatement.
    Whatever you do,
I highly recommend the viewer learn about the entire migration process of the monarch butterfly from start to finish,
    from Mexico to Northern Canada
then full return back to Mexico.
    It is awe inspiring.
Someone once told me that the Monarch's full journey has been known to awaken a strong sense
of spirituality in some former athiests.
    I now know why.

I encourage you to do so! Where I live milkweed flowers have such a heady sweet rich fragrance. I never understood why they didn’t make a perfume scent from it.
Also,if you can get a butterfly bush. It attracts & feeds Butterflies bees humming birds hummingbird moths bumble bees… it’s great. Enjoy

One of nature's miracles! Spectacular footage!
This short video illustrates how crucial each little backyard

Absolutely a beautiful video! Just like I have experienced for so many years, they will come if you grow the milkweeds in your back and front yard, in the soil or in the pots. They have made My summer meaningfully and enjoyable.

@@38hobo I was so happy to have noticed them. All 11 are chrysalises now, and the first could open soon. We're in the low 80s this week so they should be happy to emerge.

🎉awesome! We pulled 10 in as well. They would not have lasted the below freezing temps, here in North Florida. Now all 10 are in the Chrysalis, they are the first batch of 2024, Miracles of flight they are absolutely beautiful! 🦋

Update. The first butterfly emerged today. Unfortunately there are a few cold nights ahead. I've got a big airy enclosure with a few flowers and some dilute honey nectar. One chrysalis died, apparently there was a parasite. I'll release as soon as the weather permits as they continue to emerge. Nine to go.

Monarchs also love Passion Fruit vine they lay eggs and the larvae eat the leaves they also help pollinate the fruit. I had many of these plants and it was wonderful to watch!

    • @annediaz152
      @annediaz152 5 місяців тому +7

That is incorrect. The monarch caterpillars only eat milkweed. You had Gulf fritillarys, not monarchs.

The aquarium campus in Scottsdale, Arizona has a butterfly exhibit that shows an exceptional 3D film about the Monarch's journey. It really is fascinating - hopefully you can check it out sometime!

The most life saving gift for Monarch Butterflies is to plant milkweed. You may have some now, (we know it’s perineal!), and I encourage everyone out there to start some in your gardens, on edges of fields or even in large containers on the porch or patio. Call around nurseries that tend to have plants grown without any sort of insecticides. They will steer you toward healthy, native milkweed. Great video thanks to Nat. Geographic! To learn more I recommend the best video series by a science teacher, MrLundScience! Best to you.

❤ In New Zealand we have Swan Plants the Monarch Butterflies lay their eggs on them. What I have noticed is their is one particular preying mantis that does eat the caterpillars and indeed seems immune to their poison, although the European wasps also attempted to take the caterpillars back to their nests as well. This broke my heart watching both the wasps and mantises killing off the caterpillars before they evolved. 😢
