I've been watching Sungha since he was a little kid and I'm a musician too. I keep coming back once in a while to watch his videos because he makes me proud to be a human being with his talent and poise. I'm American and I think Asians are incredibly gifted and smart. That is why I'm a fan of Asians like the Korean PSY from Gangnam Style, Pizzicato Five from Japan, Lim Jeong Hee from Korea with a song she sings called Clock Work, Also the Jazz group Yutaka and of course Sungha !!

Amaze that's not ordinary skill he can play guitar and sing the guitar at same time..
Having practiced enough to be able to play songs on this level, it is practice and dedicated. The idea that a mysterious thing called talent that only certain people possess exists is pretty ridiculous, ANYONE physically able can become this good at guitar. You just need to put a hell of a lot of time and effort in.
Bear in mind that children that learn instruments from a young age learn quicker than adults as they're learning the instrument as their brain develops.

joe's guitar skills is great, but still lot's of people have better skills than joe
but joe's songwriting skills is one of the best.

If he chooses not to create original songs, who cares? appreciate it for what it is. There are creative musicians who couldn´t play half as well as this guy, should they aspire to be like him? You´re comment is stupid.

his arrangements are extremely difficult. I can play about 10 songs in the exact way he plays, but god knows how long it took me to learn the songs like that. each song took well over 1 & half weeks of free time to get the hang of it.
I can play his My immortal and A thousand years, some of his arrangement are too difficult, like payphone -.-
I hope one day I can play " Hotel California" by guitar- one the best song in the world
He's sixteen now, he was uploading videos when he 10 (6 years ago. Check his channel) and before that he was still practicing, still in beginner stages like everyone else. Practicing everyday...
Jimi Hendrix was amazing; Due to insane amounts of practice. He was touring around America (left home at 17) homeless playing everyday for 6+ years. He's played with everyone and in all styles . He practiced scales "like a maniac".
You can't say "special gift" just because someone's really good.

Can we stop arguing? If you really love music and believe in yourself, you can become better than anyone else! and also can we just enjoy this beautiful piece of music? If Sungha saw this quarrel over talent, would probably say that with enough effort you can do anything. To get this good he had to practice a WHOLE bunch. Please don't limit yourself by calling this a god-given skill because with that mentality you are setting yourself up to a point where you'll never get this good.

well, there are some to count, you know? On his channel he plays some guitars, ukulele, guitarlete, piano and some other things I don't even know what is it, harp guitar i think.

This kid, although with great potential, has yet to prove he can be the stuff of legend and write music that will last. So far he plays, amazingly well, someone elses' music.

No way can I ever play like you; however, if you are going to play a classic at least keep true to the intro before you do your own thing, then when it come to the dueling between Felder and Walsh you don't get it or at least don't put it across as it should be.. you are a magnificently talented young man don't be a clone and continually use reverse technology and recreate music. Play your own stuff. Don't get me wrong I have followed you from way back and would like to hear more of what you write not others. Still nice work more of you now please

arjun559 I guess soetimes it's good to be realistic.We really don't go any further when we lie to ourselves saying "Neaah, I can do that!" but actually that's out of my league. That's at least my point of view when it comes to comparing myself with Sungha Jung. I'm really speechless seeing him perfrmig, and ussually can't follow both of his hand, often neither ;)). And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one :P.

man it is certanly more than practice but practice can take u anywhere, i first heard of sungha 2 years ago and i went and bought myself an acoustic guitar n now after 2 years of practicing sunghas songs the best one i can now play is dust in the wind n am just starting to be able to do that thumb drum thing the same time as hiting notes, keep up the hard but fun work n ul be playing this in no time :)

He's been practicing for years... With years of practice anyone can play like that. But it's the drive and passion that has to drive you. For some, it'll be learned quicker than others, and some faster. But in the end, everyone can do it.

This is a horrible arrangement of such a classic song. He's a great player, he's got skill, but that's about it.
True, he is absolutely talented, and he created arrangements to other songs that made them sound way better, but when it came to this awesome song, he fucked it up.

after the first 90 seconds you can begin to hear the similarities to the song. great arranging of an intro to set the motif here.

Thank you for your dedicated position and congratulations on the success of your guitar exercises. I am not just "anti" to your position, but want to discuss some aspects. I imagine that you do your practice with 'passion', may be that is the point to me. We both don't know exactly, where it comes from (as far as I know a conglomerate of socialization factors and neural dispositions...). I found this statement from Sloboda, 1993: "Musical ability is the ability to 'make sense' of music."
He was really blessed with such a great gift.....music.
This guy puts the great guitar legends to shame. He isnt a musician, he is a master composer. He is on an entirely different leven than most musicians alive today. I hope Im even 10% as good as this guy some day.

You're right that behind Sungha Jung outstanding musical performance, a large proportion is exercise. Do you really mean: "...anyone can play like that." How many decades do you think?
I am a music teacher and also assume that every person can develop his musical skills. Whether someone does it with passion is due to many factors. But such an objectively high level is reached in a finite time only with special talent. Where ever musical talent may come from, it is certainly more than "practice"!

I was responding to the guy who said Sungha is better because he has played since he was 6. If someone say that Sungha is better because he has played since he was 6 is just a stupid argument, that's why I said that Igor has played over 40 years. I don't care about age.
Sungha is probably already one of the best guitarist. But I like Igor more because not only is he an awesome guitarist, he puts soul and emotion and personality in every song he plays, something that Sungha doesn't do.. yet.
