I am working on my platform this week. Thanks for the good ideas.
Hey John! Thanks so much for continuing to make these videos! Love the new platform and fridge - nicely done! I noticed in the video that you have an exterior light mounted on your ursa minor - can you make a video about that, showing how the switch works and your level of satisfaction with it? At the overland show in Colorado this year there was a full-timer on a panel that mentioned that she had magnetic motion sensor lights on the exterior of her vehicle and she thought they gave her tremendous piece of mind. I would like to figure out my own outside lighting solution before next year...
Will do soon
A toilet hanging over your head from bungy cords in an offroad vehicle.... What a great idea!! What could go wrong ;-)
It’s been hanging in there for a long time now, and it’s handy in a pinch!
Was there any room what so ever between the fridge and the support bracket. I love your concept however the fridge I’m looking at is 29.6 for depth. It’s the Iceco APL 55
The fridge I have is right up against the back seat and barely clears the tailgate. You might be able to squeeze the extra three inches in if you build your sleeping platform on the drivers side and install the fridge on the passenger side. The only downside is that the 2/3 seat will be in front of the fridge but it’s doable. If it fits it will be tight though so make sure to measure it out before committing on the fridge!
Right i got so sick of buying ice oh man
My jeep seats don't go allthe way down
What wheel tire combo are you running? Brand, size and wheel offset. Thanks it looks great.
Those are AEV Salta wheels with 5.2" backspacing and BFG KO2 tires in 285/75r17.

Nice series of upgrades.
If/when you do decide to go with a flexible solar panel, any thoughts on how you're going to mount it to the Ursa?
I keep hearing rumors of industrial strength Velcro. That’s the method the Renogy solar guys used on their van when I talked to them at a show. Its more than likely the method I’ll use unless I come across something better. Because of the ribbed roof of the Ursa Minor, the only other option I have seen is gluing the panel to a sheet of aluminum and screwing that to the top. I do not care to drill more holes in my roof and that adds more weight which is exactly why I’m going with the flexible panel. The Kyocera panel I have now weighs 20 pounds. I can shed 15 of those by going with a flexible 100 watt panel.
I agree about tapping into the Ursa in order to secure the panel(s). No need to create a future problem (ie: rain/water intrusion) if there is a better option. I've been pricing out 2x100watt flexible panels for my system and will probably settle on an industrial adhesive (Eternabond/VHB) or Velcro to secure them. Currently working through the need (or no need) for proper air ventilation between the Ursa and the panel. Some panels say there isn't a need whereas traditional thinking suggests there is.
🤔
Have you guys seen this product? I'm considering it for my JK: www.cascadia4x4.com/collections/jeep-vss-systems/products/jeep-wrangler-jk-vss-system-hood-solar-panel instead of going with the roof mounting option...
@@happycamper1687 I have and they look great! If only I had the correct hood for one……
@@happycamper1687 nope, I have the 10a hood. No panels are available for that one unfortunately.
Lol my paper towels fall out of the corner lolol
