i own a Gassan Sada Haru Katana 1850 1 st generation, has Nthk papered , i swaped 8 katanas for it over 12 years ago with a dealer ! so glad i did , still love the sword to this day . thanks for the video
A vary Beautiful High valuable battle ready Katana but it’s now used for cultural purposes not to see battle or spill blood I do highly respect these katana makers of Japan to continue the 1000 year tradition of their ancient way of the Katana for it is the soul of the Samurai
I was given a katana sword from my uncle after he passed it’s got a dragon engraved on the blade I don’t know if it’s an antique or not or even how old it is I just know it looks old and looks very very well made but I know nothing about the blade it’s self it has some kind of spear engraved on the other side of the blade
I dont think your avarage tourist would buy something for that kinda price but people who collect and study swords or practice authentic Japanese martial Arts or study Japanese History overall would buy it, if i bought such a sword id also take great care of it and pass it down once i have Children after all i find it remarkable how not only are they beautifull but with the right care they can last Centurys, millenia even much beyond a humans lifetime
that kind of price? i guess you don't know much about those swords then. post koto swords are really cheap. you can find them for few hundred dollars all day everyday. they are even cheaper than high end modern kitchen knives sometimes. Note how i said "17th century". and great care? what care? you take them out once a year and oil them.. a kid can do it. @@thepriestpucci4988
I'm glad to see Gassan is still forging blades, but it makes me even more happy to see his son forging too.
