  • Over the past several months, the fish camera has endured challenging weather conditions and turbulent waters, limiting viewing days. Instead of highlighting this again, we decided to showcase the few fish who were around all month long.
    Uncle Onslow, the grouchy hairy blenny, has been a consistent and entertaining character, often engaging in territorial disputes despite its size. The month began and ended with impressive sightings of schools of tarpon, adding to the excitement of the underwater spectacle.
    The octopus sightings have been particularly captivating, with one instance revealing its rapid camouflage technique in under half a second, highlighting the creature's remarkable adaptability and camouflage skills. Sheepshead are gradually making a comeback, while a buffalo trunk fish made a closeup appearance, soon to be featured in the fish guide.
    The antics of the sneaky cowfish, swimming backward as if attempting to evade detection, have provided amusement to viewers (at least myself ). And then there are the chubs, holy cow the chubs, they have been charging the camera like a wild stampede almost every night.
    The barracudas, always just in the distance, finally decided to join the party this month! One of them even showed off its turbo boost mode, zooming from zero to sixty in just two seconds flat, chasing after who-knows-what for dinner!
    And here is the breakdown for the month:

      Uncle Onslow never fails to disappoint, the grouchy old Hairy. What a fart, he even went after Fil-e-cia!

    Watching that octopus shifting its color as it lighted on the piling was just amazing. And then...then...here comes Uncle Onslow chasing other fish (for reasons only known to him) and 0:55 photobombing the camera with an expression on his face reminiscent of Carl from the movie "Up". I haven't seen Filecia in a good while, or files period and it was good to watch her drifting around again! Well done with the recap! They are always a joy to watch.

    Great work! Very exciting! I wasn’t able to watch the camera watch this month, and I didn’t see much when I did, so it’s fun to see all the highlights!

    Always look forward to the monthly video..thanks so much for the compilation. 🤗 Your list of missing fish is interesting...did they swim south to where it's warmer (?) 😂 The unseasonably cool water is pushing them on, maybe.

    • @DeerfieldBeachLive
      @DeerfieldBeachLive  7 місяців тому +1

      Not really sure. I know some of the fish are seasonal. I am actually hoping to compile a chart sometime based off the last several years of when certain fish come around. This is currently on my wish list when I magically have time available to do this, lol.

      @@DeerfieldBeachLive LOL...I do remember going out fishing at night from Government Cut in January...chasing the kingfish that run in front of an incoming cold front. Don't know if it's the change in barometric pressure or the change in the water that pushed them south...but, it was good fishing.

    • @DeerfieldBeachLive
      @DeerfieldBeachLive  Місяць тому

      The first one that is yellowish with a neon blue stripe down the middle is called a Rainbow Runner, and the ones following it are called bar jacks with the blue stripe down the top all the way to the tail.
