I am a proud father of a 29 yr old, my only child. And since the second I saw my daughter for the first time, these kinds of videos hit me every single time. Could be a video with 50 reunions and 50 times I will be grabbing for the tissues. Prior to my daughter, nothing hit me, nothing grabbed my feelers like they do today.

As an American soldier, i really appreciate your guys' respect and appreciation for our warriors. It's bittersweet actually. Because you two have more love and respect for my country's warriors than a large number of my own countrymen. I'd also like to mention that i, as a soldier, a warrior, also have the utmost respect and love for your nation's warriors, and your citizens. Obviously Britain is one of America's closest allies. And we will forever defend each other when needed.

I served with the U.S. Navy for 26 years through 11 deployments with countless missed birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. That's over 8 years away from my family. Leaving was always hard because you are leaving your loved ones behind but you are also excited to be doing the job you've trained so long for. Coming home was always the best feeling. Fortunately, I was home for the births of my 4 children.

I can't remember where I was coming home from but my sister didn't know I was coming home. She was working as a loss prevention officer at a large department store. So when we walked in we told the lady who I was and my sister didn't know I was home. So I went to the sporting goods section and told her to call my sister about a suspicious guy there. I heard her sneak up behind me and that's when I stood up and turned around. She absolutely lost it lol.

I'm the daughter of a 23 year Navy veteran, the sister of a 23 year Navy veteran, and the mother of a 20 year active duty Navy sailor (so far).
I've seen, and felt, many departures and reunions over the last 70 + years.

This one always gets me. It makes me feel for the guys who don't have anyone waiting on them to get home. I got to experience it both ways, the first deployment my dad was standing there waiting for me to get off the bus. The second deployment life happened and I arrived back just after my dad had surgery and was unable to travel. It is a special kind of loneliness to walk past the families streaming out of the stands reuniting with their loved ones while you just get on a bus to go to an empty barracks room.

Sadly not for the Vietnam Veterans. My husband will never forget how horrible he was treated coming home. He was spit on and called some ugly name.
I am so proud these on this video got a good welcome.

You can never understand how emotional this is seeing your loved one after having them gone and not knowing if you will ever see them alive again.

All the kids are happy to see mom or dad come home. But once they are about 10 and older they have an understanding of why they were gone. And if they are aware of current events they are probably aware that not all of them come home. Especially if they are living in a military community and might have been aware of friends whose parents didnt come home. I remember being 9 or 10 when my dad was a pilot in Viet-Nam and worried he might not come back.

That didn't happen when my father came home from Vietnam. People were spitting at him so he had to take his uniform off fast.

The one from the Navy couple was sad. He came home to find out she is marrying his twin brother.

Please react to Scott Horton's Enough Already playlist. It's about the US's terrorism wars and how they connect to each other and what really happened.

To be honest, I'm getting desensitized to these kinds of videos...there's way too many...and the more elaborate, the quicker the over-saturation I think. HOWEVER...I love and respect and honor the armed forces of my country immensely!
