Man, I hope the owners of the game don't get overly greedy and shut it down because it's not making Genshin numbers.
I picked this game a month ago. I love it. I am done with most story mode (Stuck in season 2 chapters 4 and 8) but I don't care. And I don't want it to become too pvp. I like that this is kinda chill.

I'm a new player myself, wanted to play this game kinda hardcore, that's how I found your channel. One main thing that turns me off is the long ass animations, it takes me 2 minute to clear a story dungeon just bcs of the animations taking so fking long. Idk if there's a setting to turn those off or not since I couldn't find anything related to it but it's annoying. Just the amount of time that's wasted in pve modes by those animations make me wanna close the game. I'm a Summoners War player so maybe it's self explanatory, SW doesn't have that long animations and cut-in scenes that take a lot of time.

Well, they added an animation AND story skip options
      Just go to settings>game >
You will find turn of skill animations, you can set to once or day of turn off
      Same for story scenes

I quit the game like 2-3 weeks ago, and I do not regret it at all. It was starting to get really boring/stale sadly. And the limited ticket stuff pushed me over the edge.
I don't feel the urge to login at all, which I'm thankful for. I'll still watch your content from time to time though, because I do enjoy your videos.

Op skills being locked behind star level really sucks. You have to grind for a long time or whale to get there which sucks ass.

Excuse my lack of knowledge in gacha, but I think they are meant to stay for years , to be milked for as long as possible, look at FGO , it's been running since 2015 with worse visuals and greed, but the story is so amazing players ignore the greed and outed system and visuals.
(Early disclaimer : i know fgo and genshin are titans in the industry and shouldn't compare a smaller game like outerplane to them).
If we look at FGO and genshin they retain players without PvP, through other means , the side content is very good and events are good, they offer meaningful insight on the character (like fischel's quest ) and weave wonderful stories that gets you attached to the characters,- even tho genshin gets shit because the side content is time locked once an event passes it's gone(outerplane is the same ) -
And it's not just big companies who rely in PVE , limbus company has a handful of well written characters, it's like third the character count compared to outerplane but the story and character arcs carry them.
So in conclusion smaller games have the advantage of being unchained (Like NIKKE when it started, outerplane , snowbreak, etc) so they should do what NIKKE did which is use the waaifus to lure the players in (which outerplane does successfully) then pin them down with beautiful stories and impactful events, they are already halfway there in terms of spectacle and generosity, they just need to lock players down.
I understand the "endgame content" bit, but it's a tad pointless when you reach the cap ( for example when you max out everything which fairly doable without spending at all or spending much, doing the ecology study and identification isn't much needed , even if needed you can sweap them) the incentive for skyward tower isn't really that strong , other than just putting your units to the test ( I might be 100% wrong here but this is how I see it) maybe if they put stronger incentive (idk maybe something like the doppelganger stuff) skyward tower will become a big thing and you have to put it in mind, unlike the ecology study and identification which you gotta beat once with 3 stars then sweap.
I also understand that want to keep it light so it can fit in our daily lives, so it's a tough decision.
As a passionate waifu collector I really love the designs, I love D-Astie and vlada as much as I like waifus from bigger games, and I hate to see this game struggle and spiral down , hell! I'm even contemplating using my spare time to make a fan-game for them to try and boost their exposure.

The point you made about game dying is good is very valid, however not for a gacha or a live service game.
For a campaign game with a story and a defined and it's very satisfying, playing a game completing it then putting it down is part of the experience.
But gacha and live service games need to run for as long as possible to cover up for the production , running and maintenance fees , also profits are a huge target, so they need to run for a long period and siphon our wallets
