Yep....I feel you. Hate the snow, hate the cold and wet, hate the mud!!! We had a decent dumping of snow in Worcestershire too, happily it has melted now. But the mud... Love the caravan! Great little place to retreat to after you've done your jobs. Keep dreaming of spring! X
Oh heavens @nattygee704 I am going to hold on to that mantra now... Keep dreaming of Spring... I love that! Are you bogged down with mud already too? I hate it! I don't mind the cold if its dry but there is nothing worse than cold fingers and wet feet is there? ❤🐴💕
There's a company called mudcontrol that does slabs that can be laid onto gloopy sloppy mud. Expensive but suitable for horses and removable when you move.
Are they the mudmats @clare999 ? We've been looking at a couple of companies that do that sort of thing but the price is stopping us. I need to do a bit more research on how easy they are to lift as well. Ive definately cut down the mud area from last year but now its created a bit of a funnel. 😅 I can't win! 😂🐴💕
Hi, here in Sheffield we got about 4 inches of snow on Tuesday, yesterday early everywhere on side streets was frozen .During the day the sunshine thawed some . Last night we got more snow and luckily only a fine covering. Now we have rain and so the snow is going slowly. Thank goodness, I don't like snow . When I had horses , I loved riding them in it. The snow used to keep balling up in the horses feet. It's lovely to see your horses are happy in the stables and rugs. Brings back so many happy memories for me. I was lucky re the mud , but like you it was only one area which got bad because we had a 30 acre field. I will send you some information about what I think will help you solve some of the problem of all that mud, but everything costs money , so it will be something you have to research a lot. Good luck, thanks for another good video.
Wow you had 30 acres @HelenW-w3t that is incredible! Our field is only 3 acres but we are slowly figuring out how best to manage it and even though the mud is terrible again, its nowhere near what it was last year. I cant believe we have had the land for a whole year now! Time goes so quickly when you are busy doesn't it. I used to love riding in the snow when I was a kid, I used to put thick Vaseline into Toby's hooves to try and stop the snow balls forming but it was never perfect. Definitely better without shoes though! It's lovely seeing your name pop up again in my notifications ❤🐴💕
I just luv ur video's and i luv how u manage on a budget ur doing brill, hate watching the oh im loaded and got all top stuff vids, urs is so down to earth and REAL, good luck with all u do with the horses .😊
Oh that's such a lovely comment @christinecartwright2711 thank you ❤🐴💕 I cant see me becoming rich any time soon and you don't miss what you've never had! I watch a few UA-cam channels and the facilities they have are just incredible aren't they. I'm surprised I haven't had any comments yet about having 3 ponies in one stable 😅 but that's how they live and they do love each other, bless them. We do have a tight budget and most the time it is around £0 and then something major will happen like my horsebox breaking down last week 🤯 Oh my channels name is very appropriate at the minute 🤣❤🐴
I dislike Winter so much and the cold. Mud is another one. I was thinking how much I can't stand the mud, watching you slowly walk through, with your boots. I'd be falling in the mud
I fell in it last week @serenityfirefly70 its terrible! I cant fence that area off though because they love the stable. Fingers crossed we will have a solution in the coming couple of weeks. 💕🐴❤
Oh bless you @karenmackinnon7385 and I am loving the purple heart next to your name ❤❤❤ Has the snow settled by you or has the rain cleared it straight out? Its just pouring of rain today like a monsoon. All the snow has thank fully gone but its bitter cold and Dreams rug was letting in so I've had to change it again. I need to get some reproofing spray. We left it later to go and sort them out because it said the rain was going to stop at 2pm. It didn't. So I've literally just got back in the dark, soaking wet but they are all snug in the stable. Hope is still really hot and if I didn't think she would get rain scald then I would just take the lightweight off her. Anyway thank you as always for watching and its always lovely to read your comments ❤🐴💕
That brings me back... the coldest weather I have ever ridden a horse in was freezing minus 20 degrees celcius. Brrrrr.... The horses' muzzles were covered in icicles, and it hurt every time I breathed. Those were the days... LOL.
Have you thought about putting some shredded carpet on the soil for a few meters around the stable. It sits on the mud but allows drainage but you do need a thick layer.
We have been in touch with a few companies that deal with the mud and I think we will have an answer by next week hopefully @GAParkinson-qy8ol We are trying to get it sorted long term but also in a way that doesn't need planning permission which you need for hardcore areas. It has been a bit of a nightmare! 😅🐴❤ Thank you for watching and thankyou so much for your suggestion, it means a lot ❤
I have artificial turf down for my horses paddock. It's old football pitches and I didn't pay much for it but it keeps the mud away . The problem is with older horses is that when the deep mud holes freeze they can hardly walk. My 28 year old Irish cob has arthritis and needs to move otherwise he gets stiff, at least with the turf he has a fairly flat surface without frozen potholes.
That's such a good idea @charlotterockel-kennedy8913 I think we have come up with a solution but just waiting to hear back about how much it is going to cost 🤯 It's all money, money, money isn't it!
Several loads of rock would really help with that mud at the entrance to the shelter. I hate to see horses in nasty mud like that in the winter. It can really just ruin their feet. Not to mention it’s probably not very comfortable.😢
Oh its truly awful @susanvuturo4361have you seen what it was like last year when we first took the field on? Oh it was so bad! Its definitely ten times better now but still so bad! We think we have a solution, just waiting for quotes and to see if we can do it ourselves as always 🐴
How about a couple of one ton bags of gravel , it cones in different grades , you can just pile it up and spread it where its needed , weve used that option in the past and it really helped
Thank you so much @claireleone but we have been told because of the size of the area and the fact we are on greenbelt we would need planning permission to do that 🤯 Thankfully we are looking into mud control options and should have more news on this by the end of next week! ❤❤❤

Oh heavens that's cold @hw-art ! I have started stocking up on knitted items of clothing from Vinted 😅🤣🐴 I really cant do the cold!!!

Looks nice but it's a pain 😂
You can say that again Dawny!!
I love the snow 😂 I'll take ice and snow over constant rain! (May be the odd one out here)
Oh yes absolutely @raversmead and me! 😅🐴❤

Any local farms got any old hay or straw ??

I think we have almost sorting it, just trying to arrange funds 🤯🤞
Mud is the worst isn’t it!
I absolutely hate, hate, hate it @marylowe9875 !
