Do you feel the 7mgte is worth the hassle that comes with it? I'm in the USA and am looking at taking my MK3 7mge into a better performer. I'm torn between the 7mgte, 1jzgte, or going 1uzfe. They all seem to have their own advantages, and disadvantages, however I think the 7mgte get shit on more then it should be. If you pull one out of junker, have the block and head machined, use the proper gaskets and bolts: You will have a 300hp car. Upgrade to BPU and you have a 360-370hp. That's 400hp at the crank with maybe 4-5k spend on the whole transplant. What are your thoughts?
TheSpartacusiv to be honest you'll probably have to spend more to get the 7M to a good place. It wouldn't be the most cost effective build as JZs just have more parts avail etc But I wanted something different and that's why I stuck with it. Lol funny that the original motor is 'different'
this has given me alot more faith in the 7m, i would love one of these on my p's and somehow in nsw u can have a 7mgte supra but not the 7mgte z20 soarer? i smell a loop hole and im taking advantage of it, just a nice manual supra with a non blown 7mgte such as yours is very hard to come by. Most are autos, i dont have a problem with doing a conversion tho, brings me to my next question. Are you running a W58 or an R154? And should i go the steel head gasket route? Only looking for about 350whp reliably, very much like how your car used to be. Sick car mate, keep making more vids :)
Izimujack thanks man. Mine has the r154 from factory. A normal headgasket with ARP studs can hold 350hp. If you want to go the metal HG route I would very strongly recommended that you get the head and block decked by a machine shop.
クルー喧嘩者 depends on the power goals man. For ~350hp give or take, you can probably get away with oem headgasket and studs. Any higher and you’d want to at least deck the head and block and go MHG
Oil pump needs to be modified. Get a hose with no banjo for the pump, Zulu mod, good turbo and gate, 1000cc injectors bigger fuel pump new lines too. Also a intake manifold and a intercooler with oil coolers box and motor. A few hours and some tools 🛠. Well maybe a 100 hours at least and heaps of tools you probably won’t have.
Thanks for your video👍👍👍. For ~350hp can I keep stock internal ?( pistons, rods..) just metal head gazket and bolt enough Can I keep stock ecu with s-afc apexi? For afr .. Thank you nice car man 🤙
airone2580 yeah man stock internals all good for 350hp. Just need a good head gasket and arp bolts or studs. Stock ecu and safc is ok but make sure it’s not running lean or detonating at peak torque etc. I would suggest a proper dyno tune with the safc :)
@@YakuzaJZ thanks man for your fast answer and your advise👍. When you say proper dyno tune , I need an other ecu adjustable? Or it s just to check peak torque air ratio? And for ct26 how you adjust boost? With flat washer or do you have another technic? 16 psi for dayly drive is not to much for the motor? Hope you understand my english language(I m french).🤙😉
airone2580 yeah proper dyno tune as in they can check air fuel ratio and make sure it’s not detonating. They can also do a basic tune with the stock ecu and Apexi Safc. I would recommend you purchase a standalone ecu if possible. For boost control you can use washers but I would recommend you buy a boost controller (manual or electronic is fine). You will find on stock ecu you will reach stock boost/fuel cut around 12-13psi. So you will need to trick the ecu to get past this. Google “Lexus AFM and 550cc mod” 😁
@@YakuzaJZ lexus afm and 550cc trick the fuel cut? Divorced and 3" exhaust are necessary for this setup? Or just to remove catalyser do the job.. What you advice me about turbo, t57 or kinugawa upgrade or ...? Thanks man🤙
airone2580 yep 550 injectors and lex AFM will trick the ecu to let you go above the normal fuel cut. I would recommend a proper downpipe and sports cat or sports cat. Stock downpipe is shit. Either a 57 trim ct26 or kinugawa 60-1 would be fine for your power goals.
You ran up to 20psi u tuned or did you get a piggyback or something somewhere along the line? I’m building my car similar to yours and it’s really amazing if u got 400+hp on the factory ecu
@sir.gromit9775 the different ecus will come with wiring instructions, but you basically have to splice into the factory wiring to feed the sensor data to the piggy back, then it converts those signals to the factory ECU to "trick" it to run your custom tune. Thus the name, piggy back.
depends what your goals are at the end of the day! but a reasonable power like 400hp can be had with machined block and head plus a metal head gasket. Then a bolt on turbo like 57 trim ct26 and some fuel mods :)

airone2580 yes 11psi should be fine. It may hit fuel/boost cut occasionally (usually 12-14psi is fuel cut). The ECU has safety parameters in place so it won’t go over
