$30bn Nuclear Reactors will Produce 50% of Egypt’s power generation capacity - El Dabaa NPP

A major undertaking project that is expected to play a significant role in Egypt's energy future, is located on the Mediterranean coast and will consist of four VVER 1200 reactors with a total capacity of 4.8 gigawatts. This is enough electricity to power about 4 million homes.
El Dabaa is Rosatom’s first major nuclear power project in Africa. It will comprise four pressurized water reactors with a total capacity of 4.8 gigawatts, which is expected to account for up to 50% of Egypt’s power generation capacity. The site approval permit for the plant was obtained from the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority in March 2019, while the construction permit for the first unit of the plant was issued in June 2022. Rosatom started construction of units 1 and 2 in July and November 2022, followed by the pouring of the first concrete for unit 3 in May 2023. The commissioning of the first unit is expected to begin in 2026 and the plant will be operating at full capacity with all four units by 2030. The project is expected to boost the country’s economy and industrial development by creating up to 50,000 direct jobs.
The design lifetime of the plant will be 60 years. Overall, the El Dabaa nuclear power plant project is a major undertaking that has the potential to bring significant benefits to Egypt. It is a project that is worth watching closely.

for years thses channels have been relaying all the mega prosperous projects making you think egypt is such a promising place and for years living conditions in actuality have been going from bad to worse and people are fed up with no income no electricity egyptian pound is becoming worthless prices are inaffordable everything is inaffordable but what matters is that the media keeps painting this illusional picture of egypt and how great it is
