We didn't mind it and it was nice to live with something different for a few days. They are built for a specific purpose so it would never have been quite as polished as a van designed for long term ownership I suppose.
Can’t wait to see your adventures in Oz , I found your channel, exploring the Scottish isles , I’m looking forward to see where you go in Oz 😊 The Vans nice , but although the California is smaller , it’s much nicer , Small van , pop top , I just prefer . Really enjoy your content Will and Sarah , Keep posting 🥰
Great to see you in Oz, we went a few years ago and was undecided whether to use a camper or hotels when we did the Great Ocean Road. Wish we’d done the camper as the hotels were dire…😥 I was a bit taken aback by your final comment about possibly looking at a bigger van. Don’t desert us, like A Bus and Beyond did…we’d be lost without you….😎
Quality video again brilliant content you guys have the likability factor. Looking forward to hearing more about Oz. Ps you have been very helpful to a relative newbie Ocean owner so very grateful for you advice. Very knowledgable and helpful without being a smug twat 😂 keep up the great work you guys 👏👏❤️
I hope you don't mind me asking, but how do you manage to fit all these things you do in? I was looking at the dates on your other vids, when did you go to Oz? I'm intrigued, do you put a delay on your films? Apologies for all the questions, it's started keeping me awake at night. Great films! Thank you both
With very careful planning!! Yes, we can film, edit and upload videos with a set go live time and date so before we went to Aus we pre-loaded a load of content to cover us while we were away.
Welcome to Australia 🌏 great review, I live in Newcastle just north of Sydney. We have a California. I don’t like the layout of this van looks very cramped and a cheap fit out. Toilet /shower a bit of a waste of space I feel, many sites in Australia now offer ensuites next to your camping space. Hope you manage to get further south of Sydney to beautiful places like Kiama . Enjoy your holiday. 🙂🙂
Looking forward to seeing your travels through Australia, we were there in 2000 but not in a CV/MH, sadly. Don't forget the parking and height issues when driving larger panel vans converted to CVs. We did briefly consider a small A Class, but the parking and potential access issues to remote areas put us off. There are always compromises to be made. By the way, our Bilbo has curtains, they're well designed and work brilliantly. The curtains in your rental do seem to be a bit flimsy. Xx
Yes good point about the parking issues. It's easy to get carried away when you're in a bigger van in a country that is really well setup for it with lots of space everywhere!
Really intrigued to see what you end up deciding. After having had several motorhomes, I’m enjoying our T6 Ocean but hugely missing a fixed bed & toilet. Would be very happy to trade off compact size for another couple of metres and more on board space. But then again, I came from a 9m Concorde so perhaps unsurprising. Have a great trip and keep up the great content.
Hi newbie to cali life . Loving it so far but cannot get a 907 bottle refil anywhere in south wales . Is this a national problem on supply so you know ??
It's a bit tricky because we booked it as part of a wider trip to Australia, however if you take a look here you can see the prices: www.maui-rentals.com/au/en
Cool, I'm looking forward to hearing about more of your adventures. I'm not too keen on the interior layout. You don't need a large sink and 3 burner hob and large cooler. The shower/toilet stall is a waste of space and you aren't even using it to shower. IMO a Ford Nugget layout with upper bunk, kitchen and toilet/washing corner in the back would work better, leaving a larger lounge/dining area up front.
Well you're right in that we didn't use the shower, but the toilet yes, and the fridge we did use the capacity of it quite a lot. More so that the one in our Cali which always feels a bit awkward to get to everything in there. Adventure vids coming up soon!
@@CampervanTime My point regarding the toilet was that it didn't need its own room; a corner setup like the Ford Nugget has would be sufficient without cutting into living space.
Sorry but I think it’s a terrible conversion😂. Check out Consort and Vantage motorhomes when you are at the NEC they do brilliant U shaped lounge conversions in a panel van - but I’m a bit biased we collect one very soon. Blue Mountains are fabulous. Look forward to your next videos. Thanks, Ruth K
Will check them out! I think what it taught us was actually we like a fixed bed at the rear though, but always interested in looking at others. Congrats on your order!
@@CampervanTime that’s what I thought until we had one and you can’t sit up in bed!!! I always wanted a Cali hence why I love your channel, just too decrepit for one now ha ha
As with most large van conversions I've seen... it's rather lacking! The build quality these days seems poor. Those curtains! Fixed bed all day long, with storage beneath. Looking forward to seeing your Oz adventures though 😀
Makes you appreciate the evolution of the Cali design even more - feels like something that was designed in the 80’s and never upgraded once. Gopping.
We didn't mind it and it was nice to live with something different for a few days. They are built for a specific purpose so it would never have been quite as polished as a van designed for long term ownership I suppose.
Looking forward to seeing you both at the NEC on Saturday
Looking forward to seeing the Aus adventures..🍻

Thanks Tony 😀. You'll love the next few Australia videos if you loved the Outer Hebrides videos !

No deserting going on - just thinking about the medium to long term. Nothing happens quickly any more anyway! Great Ocean Road 😍. It's breathtaking!
That’s a big finger! Made me laugh 😂
🤣

That's very kind, thank you!
Those table supports remind me of Arkwright's till in Open All Hours 😁
Lethal!!

Hello! 👋 We may well have sampled the odd en-suite on our trip, but you'll have to wait and see over the next few videos!

Thanks! We don't hear of many who downsize from something larger to a Cali 😀

Ps get down to south wales much nicer than New South Wales 😂😂
Oh dear! We usually get ours from Go Outdoors - not sure if you have any of those over there at all?
Great Video, are you able to share rental costs, just an idea based on the van you have rented.
It's a bit tricky because we booked it as part of a wider trip to Australia, however if you take a look here you can see the prices: www.maui-rentals.com/au/en

Yes that would have worked for sure. Not sure I’ve seen that on a bigger base van at any point ?

I think we'd agree after living with this van for a good few days. Will be interesting to see them at the NEC. Adventure vids are coming !!
