I picked up a DS88 two days ago, it’s already exceeded my expectations. Beautiful, warm sounds with an expressive keybed. Thanks for all your videos. 👍
@@Grubenpony12 Agree -- I found that powered monitors created too much stage volume, and they had to turn me down in the main mix by quite a lot. I can't tolerate in-ear monitors with rubber plugs though, so for stage use I ended up settling on a $9 pair of JVC plastic earbuds. Go figure. For recording, however, a lot of people don't realize that the JUNO-DS can send audio directly to your computer over USB, so you don't even need an analog stage in between. That's a huge win.
New DS76 owner here. I prefer the synth action keys over the weighted keys of the DS88 because I am not a "piano" player. It really is an excellent instrument, so many good quality sounds and features at an affordable price point.
I totally agree. I tried a few weighted action boards and couldn't ever get along well with them. I can play faster and cleaner on these especially after I grease up the surfaces with some GHS fast fret that I would normally use on my guitar strings. Believe it or not, it provides the optimum slip/grip coefficient on the plastic keys. 😃👍
So much powerful sound in a $750 instrument. The FA, MO and Krome series compete and despite lack of aftertouch remain very useful and expressive instrument. Just shows you do not have to spend thousands on state of the art instruments to make excellent music. Pair this with a Minilogue XD and/or a Bass Station and you have a rig for around $1200 that can handle most of your production requirements. Good reminder that it is not the expensive instrument that make the artist, it is the expressive playing and ear for what works together. These libraries give great orchestral sounds and you show them to good effect.
Thanks a lot! I agree with you: if you just take long enough, you can get a lot out of even the cheapest keys. The JD has (except maybe the Kronos) the most imaginative library - and all for free. You don't play with an intention anymore, but get lost in trying out sounds. However, in a very pleasant way...
Juno-DS is better served by a drum machine like the TR8S or TR6S or the MC-101 groovebox, electronic percussion is the the Juno's weakness, not synth sounds like what the Bass Station and Minilogue XD can do, plus the Juno's sound design capabilities greatly exceed those analogue synths, for the most part. MC-101's sequencer straight up outdoes the Juno's by a radical margin, enabling for better arrangements. Of course, one can always prepare backing tracks to trigger with the Pattern Sequencer pads off a USB stick instead.
You can use aftertouch with and expression pedal on the Juno. Now that I have a midi controller keyboard with aftertouch I think I prefer it the way Roland does is internally.
For the one-finger technique, I have to thank the programmers of the Axial sound packs, who put a different sound on each key. The rest is inspiration, using the new moment without much preparation. So music is always a surprise. Most of all for me 🙂

Thank you for your questions. I've never used the Phase Pads, it was mainly the sounds that convinced me. Especially the ones that you can download to the USB stick for free via the Roland Axial website (you can see World & Orchestra in my other videos). I didn't make my own sounds, they were all presets. Have fun discovering them!
It still kills Yamaha's MX and Korg's Kross2 as a general purpose stage keyboard. Kross2 is more feature laden, but its acoustic sounds and realtime controls suck. Juno-DS and Kross2 make a badass combination, though, or MX49 + Kross2. If you mean a 16-part Zen-Core equipped version, not anytime soon, just look at the price of the MC-707 with only 8 parts and no keyboard. A profitable 16-part Zen-Core keyboard for ~$700 (and an 88-key version for $1000) is likely not yet possible, but it should eventually happen in some more years. Also, the pandemic is undoubtedly not helping, along with the damage that an AKM semiconductor factory took a while ago. Roland depends on AKM parts for circuit designs.

Dziękuję bardzo!
Doesn't sound 'full' like a real analog Juno (like 60 or 106 or AlphaJuno)
ut the range of exalted free sounds is gigantic... 😉
@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene 👍

How
Try it out...
Checking on good hammond b3 sound in particular and good grand piano sound that's it! Just check my profile pic and you'll know what I'm talking about
Great Songs!
I got my Juno DS two days ago.
Don't understand it all yet but getting there.
I love ambient sounds, harp and sccirdion music.
In contrast I melt when I heard that powerful organ you played.
I cannot work out the phase pad though so must be too old and dim!.
I think its a gimmick?
Your opinion?
I noticed your usb stick.
Did that contain the samples you played!
Do you sell them?
I want the harp and church organ please.
Sorry all the questions.
I am an enthused noobie.
Glad I just fast forwarded to certain parts. I came here for info on HOW to do this stuff and got nothing.
Then I will definitely have to do better on your next visit...🙂
The Juno-DS was released in 2015. I'm surprised they have not replaced it with an updated model by now.
Roland depends on AKM parts for circuit designs.
they just make a higher tier keyboard, the FA-06 or FA-08 and then the fantom above that iirc
There’s always firmware updates that can be done. I choose the Juno over these others because of how much it offered.
Right. We're waiting...
So PonyBoy.........What exactly are you trying to show when you said "Did you know it could do this???? Your not explaining anything ...LOL...
The music speaks for itself here: isn't it great what's inside that little box? I would never have thought it 🙂
