- Jimmy's business partner quit, leaving him to manage their $800K landscaping company alone. He rebranded and focused solely on hydroseeding but is now struggling to fill his schedule. Forced to sell equipment just to pay bills and support his family, Jimmy is contemplating giving up for a regular job. We need to turn his business around before it's too late!

When he ran out of gas at the end was so relatable. I have had so many instances like that. When it rains it pours. I know the exact moment of peace he is talking about
Biggest rookie mistake you can make. Unacceptable really.
Hope he’s doing what’s right for him and his family! Failing at a business is okay! Getting a w2 is okay! Starting a new business after failing is okay! Live, learn and grow.
90% chance the guy that left realized it'd be less stress just to start up a solo operation.
Mike: guy's spend too much money on trucks.
Also Mike: ooo is that a hydroseeding fire truck!
Building equipment like that is WAY cheaper than you think.
To the owner - You have youth and health. Keep your head up and all things are possible with Jesus! : )
And without Jesus!
@@gti189 No without Jesus many of us would not have made it through the tough times.
@@gti189 Jesus gives me breath and life. He made the sun, stars, planets and galaxies. Without Jesus, I cannot do anything. Period.
Yes brother BUT I am talking in reality. Not imaginary

I think jimmy has everything he needs to be very successful. He’s going to be just fine
Is that why his business failed?
I'vr felt exactly the same way he felt at the end when he ran out of gas. It's a good feeling of relief knowing that it's ok that things happen.
Oooof . I hate to say it but sounds like the partner had enough of running the company alone. The Is a tough video as entrepreneurs got through alot worse and keep pushing. All that self doubt talk Is defeating. He said he and the partner disagreed with the equipment purchases as he was the budget oriented one. All those vehicles and the fire truck but not one reliable truck and machine?
You make good points sir 👍🏻
I am a 12 year old who has just started a lawn care business with my buddy your videos inspired me so much so please keep up the amazing work!!!
I really want to see him succeed! He reminds me of my self. Don’t quit.
Been in business long time. Hydroseed is not full time job. Takes years to get clients to be full time.
He isn't committed to it. You have to have a passion for your business like it's your baby to be successful at it. The first thing you think about when you get up is the business. All focus needs to be what can I do to really make this a success. He should just get a job.
Going through this exact thing right now. Selling off the maintenance division of my company to go full time into hydroseeding.
It’s definitely something you need to ease into. There’s a ton to learn that’s special to hydroseeding and it makes it a totally different animal compared to landscaping or mowing.
Been this guy in my journey. The edge to do your own thing never goes away. But it’s OK to put a pause and regroup.
Prayers towards him, for wisdom, faith and strength , best regards brother 🙏
"Quit dinking around"- Mike andes
Hate to see a good guy get down like this. I know this was actually a while back but I would just say stick with it bc that big contract would come through eventually. Every successful business has there lows it how they deal with it. Good luck man you’re a good person and I know it’s definitely in you and it will happen
Net 45 is disrespectful to ourselves. Make it net 1 (bill/charge upon service) or just pass. Thoughts?
Good luck on that with any commericial property. 0 chance they cut a check on the spot
@@Beast12369 its very rare. We have 1-2 but they're smaller property management and a storage unit. One has card on file even, net30-45 isnt awful but your ENTIRE business cant be structured like that
@@Beast12369 a check? I could understand a check if we were cutting the lawns with a steam engine. A properly managed commercial organization can and does have a purchase card using visa or MasterCard. Let the credit companies deal with credit.
Yeah with commercials you do net 30 and in your contract just state that after 30 days a $100 fee is added every 15 days. If your dealing with legitimate businesses..
Problem is you have "commercial clients" paying under the table to "non-legitimate companies" because they get such a good rate. In my area (I mean no offense by this, it's just facts) but Hispanics do this. If you are a legitimate business go after like corporate owned businesses. They have to do things more professionally than a mom/pop shop or solo business owner even.
Commercial you are lucky if you get net 30. I do all commercial some times I have been waiting 90 days.
Last year I had to threaten going to court on 4 of them.. when they got that threat the all paid within a week. Funny how that works.
Commercial the way they see it we contractors are all replace able.
Getting a job and doing this part time will be great for his mental, and his relationship with his wife. Not to mention the profitability he will have when its just him. Then little by little as money goes into the family account, the business account and as his confidence starts to be built again he can grow the business little by little or he can keep it very profitable with him and another guy.
Keep pushing man if you need a job and keep pushing your business as well dont give up !
Doesn't usually go well when the partner who does all the real work in a business leaves.. The "admin" partner always greatly overestimates their value to the company.
Yeah I agree, but without the admin, you don’t have a business either, so they’re both important
Yeah but there can also be problems if the admin guy leaves and the field guy is sitting there wondering what to do and how to game plan.
I live in Pennsylvania. Does he have any more landscaping equipment for sale? Really looking for a zero turn but could be interested in some other equipment if he has it.
It’s all about the equipment!👍🏻✌🏻
You have your priorities right!👍🏻😁✌🏻
I am waiting a on the day I see your trucki n Dallas
So thats what a university degree gets ya
90 days to get paid from commercial clients? we have seen even upto 2 years to get paid
Can already tell this vid is gonna be good! love the videos
I wanna give that kid a big hug lol
Second day I’m learning about net 45 so far I think it’s bs? lol deposit and final payment no more than 14days after completion. It’s like paying rent. They don’t let you pay 45 days after it’s sent out hahahaha
Ps , give mike a follow up and a damn good one. Get that money brother!!!!
I’m a 1099 electrical contractor. My boss pays me per hr. Poop pay. I have 3 kids, wife and house. I have to keep hustling!!! Never give up!
I had commercial jobs try to bail on payment, had my lawyer talk to them, they were eager to pay me 😂
Jumped online to check out their company and make an offer on some of their equipment and they’re still making posts on the Truscape LLC website. Did they not close?
Looks like he is busy now
youtube most of the stores are greatly exaggerated
“This too shall pass”
I have the same issues
Not that I know anything about what’s going on with your situation, but you definitely seem like you would be in a better place mentally and financially if you was working a full time job as an employee while working the evenings and weekends doing your own business. Then hopefully after this season next year come spring you’ll be in a position to go all in on your hydro seeding business. Or in 2 years. Either way I’m sure you’ll be back at it doing your own business all year round after a little reset. Good luck man
A partnership is the only ship that doesn’t sail
That was a chump move to not answer. They took the time and came to see u and u can't even amswer the phone. Even if u folded that dnt sit well with me!
Hang in there man! Only question would be, What did his partner get paid for if they gave all their customers away?!
How much for that dump truck?
🙌🙌🙌
I don’t spend cash on anything crazy Meanwhile crazy hydroseeder fire truck thing that looks like a huge waste of money
Yes.Not steady enough.. We're outside Philly with big money customer's.
move to nj bro i got you
Dave Ramsey sya's 🤔“The only ship that won't sail is a partnership.” 😬
Maitenance is not hard, should have remove all installation just done maintenance just cut back
@4:23 sell that thing lol
Check out our submission video you know you want to come back to Boston Mike plus you haven’t showed any fire protection companies we need more younger ppl getting into our field so hopefully it would benefit your audience as well. Niche businesses are where it’s at
Damn.. I hope Jimmy is alright.. just an unfortunate set of circumstance. His partner quitting, him just quitting the maintenance side (and gifting it 😮) and going all out hydroseeding when he didn't have the equipment buttoned up. Unfortunate.. great episode though 👍🏻
Nothing wrong with being 2nd 3rd 4th in a company, being a ceo head hancho isn't for everyone it's very draining and sacrificial. Not every boss wants thier employee to work 90 hr weeks I've had plenty of great bosses who understood I could only work 40 hrs family time is very important. I've also been my own boss and it's years before you get to "make your schedule" you're usually on 24/7 always putting out fires. Having kids makes you want to work harder to provide but if he's like I was you also find working harder doesn't mean working more hours to where you work sleep and never have energy to spend with the family. Happy to sell my business, start a new career with set hours and paid time off. My wife and kids are also much happier to see dad around not just home when he needs to sleep.
So on your comment about going hardcore into a business often fails, but only halfway your basically definitely going to fail.. Any advice for someone with a full-time job who's just getting into starting their own lawn care business. Really can't afford to go full time with a family.
No. I meant half measures, one foot in, one out in terms of motivation and commitment. Someone can run a part time business but have full commitment and determination ✅👍🏻
@@MikeAndes appreciate the reply. Lawncare is a passion of mine. Your videos have definitely been beneficial and inspiring. I tend to have a bad fear of failure and a tendency to procrastinate. I hope I can finally push myself to start doing landscaping. I definitely don't want to stay stuck at my current job.
He needs to quit and get a job and stop torturing. He is not built for this.
I don’t understand how a company can get away with not paying a 80k bill to a service provider 😮😮(the hospital)
There are low lifes out there. After awhile they talk themselves into believing they over paid or don't owe you.
Its mind blowing
@@kubota33yes you are right but on the other hand some contractors are low life’s and can screw people over also. It’s really hard to know who’s on the right side unless you are involved with everything.
Never understand these guys that have all the toys but can’t keep up with payroll.
Seems like this guy was used to pushing paper and getting a fat check the other guy got tired of doing a ton of work while the 50/50 partner was doing 20% of the work/responsibilities
It seems like he’s stuck and freezing up due to all the overwhelming moving parts in the business. Get work done and everything else will fall into place. Plus that’s a cool looking fire truck 🚒 but not practical.
I'm sorry, but this guy is not cut out for running his own business. He is a 9-to-5'er, all day. His head is not in entrepreneurship.
Getting a Job will kill you and you will jump out of there like your butt is on fire. Ok. STOP DOING EVERYTHING. Take 4 days with the family. Come back, advertise your rear off everywhere you can. Take residential smaller jobs because you can get paid right then. Have a solid minimum charge. Run the machine you have 14 hours a day. Once you have that machine running 14 hours a day then work on the big truck. A regular job will stress you out a lot more.
These videos are interesting, however, the editing could use some serious work...He explains his day of breakdowns in a conversation, then immediately explains the exact same thing in the car. This is either filler to increase watch time ( which doesn't work because I'm about to quit watching) or it's horrible editing... Enough with the redundancy, tighten these up.
Number 1 why is he asking his wife anything? Women just want whatever path is easiest and she will constantly remind you that you "Failed" at every opportunity. Handle your business yourself without any input from her.
