Make sure to get the fence that have an air flow like the one this video so the wind/air will go through. My old gate was not like that, the windy season blew my swing gate away.
@@rdhalim oh OK. For some reason I was thinking the opening was over 20ft. I love the design concept. I think I'm gonna use it for my gate project. But it's a 25' opening so I'll need longer rails, which is a problem since Home Depot doesn't sell any over 10ft.
Did you finish the gate? How would you stop the gat from being lifted off the trak from a high wind storm and from someone trying to just simply lifting it off the track to entrude?
Yes, Make sure you don't pick the fence with no gap so the wind could slip through, I had very heavy wind and the gate was not even moving at all, its very heavy, if someone want to break in they have to jump over the fence first to lift the gate off the track. Its def. stronger than the swing gate.
@@rdhalim slide a piece of 2x4 or pipe of whatever that’s 8 ft long under the gate with a block or rock of some sort and down near gate to be a lever. Step on or use body weight at the end and your gate is lifted off and down. Take a floor Jack and slide it under and a few pumps gate is lifted and falls down but either of these will make a pretty good bang if you were home. The hardware is also facing out so couple turns with a ratchet gate is lifted off. Simple pry bar one can quietly pull wood fence boards off to get inside. Or simply bump it with a trucks bumper. A lock or fence only keeps a honest person honest.
I'm not trying to be funny or degrade your work, because it looks very well put together and you explain everything pretty well and it looks great looks great, but you can't ride a lawn mower through or a vehicle right?? It's just to walk through with the rails over you and under you? Edit I guess I kind of see now but what's going on with it?. But how do you stop it from being pushed in? It only has the wheel holding it there and no rails when it's closed, right?

Most helpful video I have found so far.
Thank you
The extras show it will last for years. Awesome thank you for sharing. This has given me a few ideas
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
is your gate still holding up?
I got some good ideas from this. Great vid.
Nice project! I hope you’ve oiled it by now… 😉
Nice
Good job. Would like to know if you can get the hardware and rails in a kit and where? Thanks.

@@rdhalim awesome
Damn, at 0:37 I'm like "dude has a Glock sitting around in his workspace!?"
It has been almost 2 years since you posted the video, do you have any lessons learned or things you would consider doing differently now?
Definitely add a rail for the wheels would help the wheel stay in place.
Where did you get poles and what size?
2” galvanized tubes, I got it from Home Depot
some floor rails would have been helpful here I suppose...
For sure, half 2” galvanized pipe would work perfectly.
@maverick cool How is it holding up? I have similar project in process. 24' long gate.
Make sure to get the fence that have an air flow like the one this video so the wind/air will go through. My old gate was not like that, the windy season blew my swing gate away.
How long are the rails? Are they each 25ft long? or did you have to combine two rails?
It’s 14’ long each, you can get it from Home Depot.
@@rdhalim so do you have the two 14' pieces connected in any way?
No, just 14’ for the top and bottom, it gave me about 13’ opening.

You need wheels with air in it. Gate is really heavy
RIP to those 4x4s
Do you even know what you were talking about?

Where did you find Gate kit
Genius

So it ended up a janky job that didn't work... 😂
I recommend checking out these plans. I am a woodglut customer and I am very happy with the plans they offer
