- Top 10 Most Expensive Wood in the World
Top most expensive wood in the world is quite interesting topic and several people may surprise that there are hundreds of wood types exist around the globe following different properties and use.
There are several variants of wood is available in the world but we are talking about most expensive ones in the world and keeping to the point we have arranged ten most expensive wood.
The value all depends on where you are in the world. Teak, African mohogany, black walnut, etc are by far the most expensive in my area of the northwest US. Red cedar grows and ash grow on my property so it's cheap.
Red cedar is almost impossible to get where i live
@@holycrusadercz6471 I live in red cedar territory, Readily available.
@@jeffhildreth9244 how much $ ? I live in czech republic so i think it would be too expensive
@@holycrusadercz6471 What will you make with the wood.? My Great Grandfather was from Salnau (Zelnav)
@@jeffhildreth9244 whatever i can, bowls, knife handles, lidded boxes etc. Its my hobby.
Good rundown. Suggest you write the name of the wood on the screen as it comes up
Agreed, AI voice can never get those names right
Absolute garbage rundown..Bubinga top most expensive wood?. No chance. Snakewood and Brazilian Rosewood way way more expensive that Bocote or Bubinga. Little or no research put into the making of this garbage video
@@alexryder2046 It's a BS video written, produced and narrated by the ignorant, and for what purpose.?
This list is all wrong.
Honorable mention: Macassar Ebony; fifty years is still juvenile, two hundred years is adult, three hundred years is ripen to fell.
P.s. All expensive wood are tropical, and wood is the most precious material in the entire universe
Absolutely agreed along with gold and diamond
Well if you're in Macassar, then it probably won't be all that expensive (comparatively of course).
the truth of the matter is there's only ONE wood that really matters, and that's MORNING WOOD.
Ha ha ha
Exactly 😂
hahaha
Yeah Dude, sadly not so much anymore 👨🏻🦳☹️
@@dougwestphal7003 Doug, change your tone-WOOD...Good Luck, Pal.
Huon pine is absolutely beautiful. Is extremely fine grained and smells incredible. A Tasmanian icon
Brazilian rosewood has never been used as railroad sleepers!.
This is so amazing, thank you, the black tree is my favorite 🖤
You’re right, it’s one of the most beautiful woods. My uncle had a neighbor that had a rifle with the black wood stock. He left it to my uncle upon his passing. Absolutely gorgeous ❤️🥰
*So calming seeing you restore items so masterfully*
Red Sandalwood is very expensive too. Sold in Grade A, Grade B and Grade C categories. Grade A being most expensive and some others are stored for 10,15 and even 20 years.
Pushpa.. pushparaj...
Thought it was not mentioned, Red Sandalwood is the most expensive wood in the world
Thank you Very much
You are welcome
I can find purple heart for slightly more expensive than walnut.
That's an interesting video, thank you for showing us.

I thought so too. Thanks for the video.
Good tip on purple heart
Thank you! Cheers!
In Thailand, teak, rosewood and maka are illegal to harvest without a permit. penalty: 1 year in prison. I was there and bought some old rosewood slabs that had been used by hill tribers for walking planks set upon muddy trails. I bought 4, each was 2" thick, 5' long and about 17" wide (variable). I used two to make a beautiful table. Up to 22 growth rings per inch. I also planted dozens of rosewood and maka seedlings in northern Thailand.
you are living in Thailand?
Agarwood which is basically an aquilaria tree (found in Southeast and South Asia) infected by a particular type of mold is by far the most expensive of them all. It is the only wood I know that's being sold per gram.
I agree.
*Excellent Video Keep It Up* 💗💗💗💗💗
When speaking about the precious timbers most of the people including the authors of this video think of the woods from the rainforests in various tropical areas. In fact one of the most expensive timbers on Earth can be found in Russia, a Karelian Birch wood.
Lol try koa wood from hawaii a good size stump will run 20k easy.
The most expensive wood belongs to aqularia tree suspected to be capable of producing resin called kynam/kyara. The wood is priced at an average $500 dollars per gram. Again, PER GRAM. Even expensive and rarer that any gymstone like pink diamond or any mineral like platinum.
The biggest recorded finding of this wood is 16 kilogram which was bought in an auction for over $30 million.
Agarwood which is also belong to aquilaria tree capable of producing a normal resin is priced at $15.00 per gram. Again, PER GRAM. So akilo of it would reach $15,000. This is just an average price because a good quality of agarwood can fetch up to $100,000 per kilo.
Thank me later!
Where can i get the seedlings?
Not sure that I can agree with many on your list. The expensive woods that have been excluded would make a top 20… I know, this isn’t an easy list to put together and it can change given market conditions which include CITIES status.
Purperhart is not that expensive. if you compare it to the others. In Suriname we use it sometimes for construction to. In australia they use it for electrical post.
After this video I respect Africa there gifted

All the furniture in my house is from Dalburgia Latifolia. but I didn't know it was so expensive.

thanks for Info.❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
I thought curly Koa would make the list.
The burrilled Maplewood of our Pacific Northwest cost is much or more as any of these but is disappearing very quickly due to aggressive poaching. It sure is pretty
And the quilt/flame figures on the same wood. PRS electric guitars feature examples of maple.
Bird's eye maple
Please mention woods names.
Lets make a top 10 most expensive woods video and let’s add a genus containing 300 species as one of the woods.... plus let’s add random cheap wood like bubinga and purpleheart
I know, i am a wood nerd and those two woods are chump change compared to true ebony and true rosewood
@@Ben-Carr Hey! Be nice to yourself. There's nothing wrong with being a wood need. I'm trying to attain that status, but I'm not there yet.
wrong....p'heart IS fairly "cheap", but NOT bubinga.....
@@jamesparker1063 bubinga is cheap when you compare it to other more valuable woods. Definitely not a top 10
Martin guitars have an Ebony fretboard-very hard and durable to endure decades of playing.
V good
Thanks
I love the video, though there is some discrepancy here. You stated that Dalbergia wood is the most expensive in the world, but African Blackwood's scientific name is Dalbergia Melanoxylon (part of the dalbergia Family). And I'm also surprised that Combretum Imberbe isn't on this list as it is a tree that takes 400-800 years to mature properly before the wood can be harvested.
Try Bristlecone Pine from the mountains around the US Great Basin
The Dalbergia he said was actually "Dalbergia Latifolia" which is also called as Indian Rosewood or Bombay Rosewood or Beeti, Eeti etc,
I have carved 16 different true rosewood species and 7 true ebony species, Some of those woods are uber expensive if you can even find them for sale.
"Dalbergia" is a "genus", not a "family"....
Combretum Imberbe (leadwood) isn't all that attractive. I bought one BF of it back in the 90s for bracelet making. It was extremely hard and heavy, but the bracelets I turned of it sold slowly. There has to be a strong demand for the wood to make it expensive.
I'm from Morocco I love this job My dream is to work with you one day
Gorgeous Fun memorable fabulous
I love Teak
Brazilian rosewood is the dalbergia.
Good content... But the narrating us clearly automated and done poorly, it would be more informative if it was easier to tell what was being said.
Agree, the commentary was very wooden.
Got a cheap Ibanez guitar and it has a purple heart wood fretboard. 4th most expensive wood in the world - for real?
No. In fact nowhere near top ten. I count 15 species of Dalbergia(true Rosewoods)more expensive than anything on this incorrect list
@@alexryder2046 Yes. I have hand carved 16 different true rosewood species. They are expensive.
I was just at my hardwood store Ebony: 370 per board foot Purple Heart: 21 bd ft Indian Rosewood: 110 bd ft
Agreed. Ebony is by far the most expensive wood. It is illegal to harvest almost everywhere now.
Bocote being in the #1 slot isn't correct.
Where is this supplier located? I am seeking buyers for rosewood.
@@henrylongsworthlongsworth1480 Windsor Plywood in Canada, eh?
Actually the purple heart wood is cheap here in Guyana but i guess its expensive to other countries
Northern US it goes for $40 a foot for a 1"x4".
1dollor US is $200 guyana dollars and its $180 per BM
I shall have to ask how much it goes for in my country Suriname.

Good afternoon...
I respect all opinion here as i usually do...
I' m 82 years old and a carpenter by profession...
Of all the woods that i encounter during my 60 years of working on woods, i consider the snake wood or better known as iron wood (mankono) of the Philipines as the most expensive and hardest wood maybe because of its rarity and hardness... we use for fabrication of bearing for sea going boats
..
You should have included Algum wood or better known as Narra wood today...this wood was used by King Solomon and is abundant from the land of Ophir (Philippines).
