This episode was notable for the quick witted banter between the Captain and First Mate!! (We know A good employment lawyer Peter). We appreciate now how difficult it is sometimes for you to get in touch with your phone hoisted high into the air. And we thought we had problems getting a signal in Elford. x J and R
I thought we were the only boat to put a phone or router in a bag and send it up the mast! It does seem to work really well! Stumbled on your channel and have been binge watching. I enjoy your sense of humor! We hope to be sailing Mexico next year.
Haha yeah it works great, got us through the summer! I guess we can longer claim credit for inventing it then, so I'll have to pretend I didn't read this 😏 So glad you found us and are enjoying the episodes, you have a few to go but don't binge too fast or you'll get withdrawal symptoms when you hit the end 😂 Definitely come to Mexico, from what we've seen we can't recommend it highly enough as a unique and deserted place to cruise! Where are you planning sail here from? What are your plans? Tell us all!
@@SailingBohemia the slow internet will keep me from binging too fast. We are currently sailing in beautiful Vancouver BC, we plan to start chasing the summer south in August. Once we get to mexico I'm not sure what the plan will be.
Another wonderful video. Susan and I are glad we're allowed to tag along. The boat looks great, and the effort you put into maintenance shows! One word of caution, though: In the early days of sail, if the first mate failed to properly stow the snubber, he was swiftly tied to it and keel hauled. Just sayin'.
Ahoj Petře a Tome!
Zlatíčka, ahojky.... moc pěkně jste to natočili. Jste vtipní oba dva a vidím, že se spolu hodně zasmějete, což je v této době zapotřebí. Děkujeme za pozitivní video a už se těším na další. Bylo to super :-)
Hey guys, I stumble into your channel yesterday in the “Suggested” channels and love it so much, I went back to your intro and watch ALL of your chapters. Two fishing tips. One you already figure it out, use Pink Squid/Feather type lures. They are absolute killers. Two, get a Trolling rod with a high capacity line for monofilament or lower capacity if you use Braided line and get a Rapala Magnum, green in color with black stripes for slow speed trolling. They dive up to 30’ and are absolute killers. Use the Spinning Rod when you are on anchor, shore or dinghy fishing with squid, sardines or soft plastic lures. The open spool, trolling rod is also perfect for deep bottom fishing if you are looking for Grouper, Snapper or big bottom duelers. A 30 lbs monofilament class rod is perfect. You don’t need a 50lbs. A 20 lbs with 30lbs or even 50 lbs Braided line is also good for light trolling or bottom fishing. If you are going to use a hand line, get a “Yoyo” for the line, so you don’t have a mess in your hand and don’t need such a large diameter line. Fish do see that big ass line. If possible, use Fluorocarbon leader, it’s the same density of water and nearly invisible to the fish. You can use a 20 lbs line with a 30 lbs leader or a 30 lbs line with a 50 Lbs Fluorocarbon leader. Your fishing catching will be better than just fishing. And those squid and flying fish that jump over board are perfect baits. Also, Bonita bellies are super durable baits for trolling. You can added to your Trolling Pink Squid/Feather hang from the hook. Great smell, super durable and irresistible to pelagic fish like Dorados (Mahi Mahi), King Fish, Wahoo, and Bill Fish. Good luck my friends and great channel. The best time to fish is during the tie changes, when there is current. During lack tie, the fish are “a sleep” and not eating. BTW, where are you from originally? I see a Union Jack flag, but so many have it, I am not sure were it’s from.
Hi Alberto, thank you so much for all the top tips!! We won't be back in La Paz where there are decent fishing stores until November, but I have saved your tips !! You are right..in total I caught about 15 fish with trolling , but only 1 one of them was on the hand line the rest on the rod, so yes the fish must see the hand line!!! need to change that! Glad you are enjoying our channel , thanks a lot and keep in touch! P & T
Guys I'm loving the channel. There are a bunch of sailing channels out there doing the same thing but there's a freshness and novelty to your perspective that's intriguing. Enjoy.
hola, ...we wish... forget any zoom calls or streaming here in the sea of Cortez... the signal is good for messages and occasionally for social media! :-) Hope you enjoying our videos. Best, P & T
@@SailingBohemia Well I guess at least you get that. S/V Untangled (they have a blog, I know them, also were MVYH :) she notated great feedback on wifi signals at anchorages/marinas all over MX (she worked remotely). And yes, nice vids, oh and nice catches too, btw :)
Was enjoying this episode very much thinking how well it flowed, how good the footage and cheery conversation is and then you drop or rather pull, the WiFi hotspot hack, hauling the phone up the mast. That’s an 11! Well done all round.
Hello!! We are planning to do one when we get somewhere as stay there for a bit!! Its go go go right now, but we promise we will do one. Stay tuned! All the best P & T
Hola, it is on the list!! But we are so busy now, its go go go to some places, once we get into a bay somewhere and we stay for while we will do one, I promise! Stay tuned! :-)
Ahoj velký relax, koukat na vaše dobrodružství v těchto dnech.......krásné dny přeji.
Moc dekujeme Moniko.
The ocean water so clear in bay ! Cleaning the hull and restocking sailboat ⛵️! Mike from Missouri
Love this trip!
Glad to hear it...now chop chop you are many episodes behind! 😉
I really must remember the “phone in a bucket” trick. 👍
Best trick ever, just don't forget to switch on the hot spot
Always kiss the fishing lure for good luck... and kiss the fish to be grateful.
Exactly that! and it keeps working!! ha ha , unless I catch a shark , then I may not kiss it! ha ha

ha ha , i think you need to build a mast in the garden to improve your signal!! ha ha
Really enjoyed this episode!
Thanks Lori , we can't wait to visit Espiritu Santo again! Hope you are well.
OMG, "bucket wifi"! Better get the plans to the patent office guys, million dollar invention! Fair winds my friends.

Making it up as you go sounds like a fine plan!

I rarely see Peter helming the boat. Was that a thematic choice, is Tom a helm-control-freak or does he grow bored too quickly?
ha ha close...Peter is the camera man so that's why.

Hi Rowan! Many thanks for your kind comment! So good to hear you are enjoying our vids! All the best. P & T
Bilge Bitch! I love it! That's probably what my neighbors called me behind my back!
ha ha ha I know.... what a great name eh?
First time I saw a phone in the bucket to the mast for hotspot - nice! Was it strong enough for zoomcalls or streaming vid?
