My parents moved us to Redwood Estates in 1947 from L.A. We lived in what was said to be a converted hunting lodge. My big sister and I loved being there. I remember the pool and the store. Mom would not let us use the pool because of her concern about contracting polio. Apparently she thought the pool wasn’t kept pristine. There was still plenty to do and the highlight was going to the store to get an ice cream cone! We moved to Los Gatos around 1950 because my parents said the Fire Protection was removed and there was only one way in and out of RE. We loved going to Holy City and were fascinated by its history and mystery.

What a kick. The original Pavilion, tennis courts before the Fire Department.
Pool...spend a lot of time in that pool. Looks to be in the same location after all these years.

Homes were probably all constructed with old growth redwood that would make superior building lumber. The Internet Archive has a great collection of historic books on redwood lumber uses

Do you have any footage of the old railroad that ran over the Santa Cruz mountains? Santa clara valley railroad I think.
