    I have the same exact pair, mine are probably mid 50’s. I just put JR heel lifts on them. Probably the best quality shoes ever made in the U.S. and super comfortable to wear. They’re tanks though.

    I have almost the exact same shoe I purchased in 1965 at Thom McCann shoe store. Mine are a light brown. They cost me $25 and I still wear them occasionally. A real jewel in my shoe collection.

      Had exactly the same thought! Especially curious about the scratches and whether you'd ever use Saphir Reno cream + fine-grit sandpaper on cordo....

    Hi! Love your videos! I just want to ask or maybe you can talk about what really happens to shell cordovan when it cracks? They say it will get worse over time but I haven’t seen a picture online that proved that. Ty!

    My pair of 93605s are dated 1980, and I put an antique brown welt and sole edge on ‘em to casual them up a bit more. Great shoes

    I have a pair of the first Church’s “Grafton” when they introduced this model in Cordovan. For those early shoes, they sourced their Cordovan leather from French tanneries. They look identical to these Florsheim, except that they have a short wingtip. I guess that they’re around 40 years old, because although I remember buying them, I don’t remember when, I fully expect them to outlast me.

      Yeah Steve does a lot of good work. I used him once, 4-5 years ago. I’m partial towards to Jim McFarland @americascobbler. He’s been my cobbler for maybe 4 years now. I think even before he handled all of Kirby Alison’s work.

    I have those in black. They cracked the first time I wore them.
    You should do a video on buying used versus new and your preference.

      I get that it doesn’t stretch, but I’ve walked up to 12 miles of city walking in my Carmina shell bluchers and felt great all day. Fit is key.

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge  4 місяці тому

      @@drzaius844 it most definitely does stretch! If it didn’t, the leather couldn’t be used for a shoe, wallet, or any other leather good. As soon as it would be bent it would break if it couldn’t stretch.
      That said, it is a difficult experience than calfskin or deerskin for that matter.
