    I have a nice pair of gunboats from the early 90's...still made in U.S.A. Great shoes. I had a Dainite sole put on mine. You did a real nice job here, G!

    Mark I’m still catching up on the Ones I’ve recently missed but I must say this one is Just Cobbler G Shoe Porn🙏
    I don’t know much about Florsheim Shoes but they are Brogues which are my favourites and remind me of my Grenson brogues which I love and are not there just yet to need a cobbler G Restore.
    Always a Pleasure to Watch you do your Stuff Sir and As always thanks for your time,££££ and Effort doing these for us🙏👍

      Thanks Neil! Florsheim are a really well made USA shoe, well their older models are the best made ones compared to what they do nowadays, these were from the 1980's and in unbelievable condition for their age! They are one of my favourite shoes! A fun rebuild and a great end result! Shoe porn is the correct term! Haha. Thanks for taking the time again to watch dude. Always appreciated! G

    When I restore the uppers on vintage shoes, I start with a good scrubbing with saddle soap and then let the shoes dry with trees in them. Then I'll use either Saphir Renomat or acetone to remove old polish, depending on how much there is and how hard it is to remove. After that, I thoroughly condition with Renovateur and then do a fresh polish, starting from a clean slate.

    I would not object to walking a mile in these shoes. You make me feel really old calling them vintage. I was born 10-20 years before they were made. Great work, I prefer the more natural sole-heal colours 2x👍

      @@CobblerG Man thank you so much! Much appreciated!! I'll check that out on your website! Also, side note, mine are the exact same color as the ones in this video. I have a tiny nick in the toe of one of them but other than that they are pristine minus needing a resole. Thanks again for your kindness and be well!

    Another cracking video bro! What's the purpose of the tiny perferated wheel thing?

    • @CobblerG
      @CobblerG  2 роки тому

      Thanks man! It's called a 'fudge wheel' it is used to make marks on the welt, I like to use it to add some detail to the bottom. If you look on the sole where the stitches are you Will notice some indentation from where it's run around, gives some nice details on the bottoms 👊👊

    Nice job. I’m curious about those square nails used on the original heels. I’ve seen one customer request Steve Doudaklian (Bedo’s) take them all out one by one and re-use them on the new heel. Nightmare job, but perhaps worth keeping the heels so you have those unique nails to re-use one day? They do make quite a difference to the final look. Although I have to say, yours look magnificent too.

    • @CobblerG
      @CobblerG  2 роки тому +1

      I always keep the old heels. It's a painstaking Job trying to reshape and reuse all the worn out nails! G

    Vintage from the 1980s? I object, sir! There is something so soothing about the application of the Flexofil. G, what is your opinion about nylon, steel, or shanks made of other materials? Thanks for your time.

    • @CobblerG
      @CobblerG  2 роки тому

      😅 it's quite enjoyable applying it too! Nylon, plastic and steel shanks seem to be fine, but it's the wooden ones that alot of the time can snap, and we see alot of those!

    It’s sad to see that America USED make quality products. Now they buy the name, lower the quality and produce offshore.
