I had a gen 1 cb1000r for couple years when Honda published it. Easiest bike to wheelie ever with really even torque cross wide range of rpm and really good city bike. Ended up getting zx-10r after it since it was really lacking on ground clearance and suspension was bit soft even after some tuning. But fun street bike!
I'm with you on the buzz, I also didn't feel next to nothing when I tried one. It's definitely my favourite litre naked . The MT is awesome but more aggressive than this one not to mention more trips needed to the fuel station. I tried this bike in 2018 and feel it's gone under the radar for so long now and is just started to get properly recognised. Good work there chaps!
If you're saying the rear shock is soft, that is the reason the steering feels flighty under quick throttle applications. Adjusting the suspension preload to get the correct sag front and rear for your weight and then adjusting the rebound damping to rise nice and slow will make a world of difference to begin. Next adjust the compression damping on the front for brake dive support and the rear compression damping for acceleration support.
I love the round headlight , no plastic, the gas tank look beautiful, very retro sport, looks aggressive, would have liked the lower sitting positioned to gas tank.

Nice review, Gentlemen! As for the bike, I like it. I like it a lot. As an owner of a Z900RS, I guess you could say I suffer from vanity :-) I think Honda have done a sterling job with the looks of the CB1000R, particularly when you stack it up against the much more expensive (admittedly more powerful and no doubt the winner on the track) Ducati Streetfighter V4. Awesome video, great editing. Much better deeper sound with LeoVince.
some people say..... once own a CB...forever in love with it....
Great video guys!
Love the retro paint job 👌
What a beautiful bike!
The only things I don't like is the dash and that little cowling. I dig the retro styling and that rear aluminum subframe is so gorgeous. Can Honda make an 800cc triple engined bike similar to this? Have they ever made a triple? That would shake the MT09 sales a bit wouldn't it?
Lads, next time you’re in Cobham I’ll put the kettle on... social distance obvs. Nice Vid👏
Kind offer! It's a lovely spot
Gorgeous bike
Would you pick it up over the yamaha xsr900?
I'm not a Honda fan, but this thing looks so much better than any of the other Japanese nakeds. I'm tempted :-)
Surely it will have good exhaust sound , because its 4 in line and can reach easily reach to 3500 to 9000 rpm with harmonic balance of distribution , no vibration , its an old old school theory , japanise use short stroke conrod arm to keep rpm reach easily to make up to optimum
