Really enjoyed this. Nice to see younger and older brothers compared. I'm still surprised by the efficiency results. At low speed (city), weight and hotel load (ie. accessories) are the main things that have an effect on efficiency. Weight and tyre type determine rolling resistance. This is where I would expect the i3 to shine. It is lighter, and uses more eco tyres. At speed, air friction is the main user of power. The i3 has a CdA of 0.71 vs 0.63 for the MINI. This should mean that the MINI is about 10% more efficient through the air. The MINI also uses a heat pump which is more efficient than the i3. It uses basically the same drivetrain so the efficiencies should be similar. Unless you were punching out of corners or climbing some really big hills (where weight also plays a part) the MINI should have been a bit more efficient at speed. In my MINI, I get about 14.5kWh/100k at 110kph (ie. 200km range). What is the freeway speed limit over there? I am guessing 120kph or higher. I am so glad you didn't just sprout the usual 7.3s 0-100kph that almost everyone says. When tested, the MINI is a *lot* quicker, as you mention. Thank you for actually giving the real value, and not the widely published one. I think this video just goes to show how far the i3 was ahead of its time. It really is a great little car. I wouldn't trade one for my MINI though - it is such a joy to drive. Keep up the good work!
You're using the i3 custom frunk bag incorrectly. The tire kit is meant to go in it, which helps form the bottom to match the tub. Then the top should be closed by putting the two long, rigid pieces together and rolling the top of the bag twice before attaching the velcro strap. It will fit perfectly in the tub and seal against dust and water. Mine has been in use since 2014; the outside needs a periodic wipe but the interior and its contents still look new.
Electric vehicles are just better. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs, less maintenance costs and amazing technology. Gasoline and diesel are OLD polluting technology. So last century. Hydrogen is a waste of time and money. Electric cars, electric trucks, electric buses, electric trash haulers, electric snow blowers, electric lawn mowers, electric snow mobiles, electric water craft, electric garden tools, electric mechanic tools, electric motor cycles, electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric farm tractors, electric construction equipment, electric delivery vehicles, ...... everything is going electric. No worries about starting after sitting for a few months. Gas always needs repairs.

@@mt7336 Ja jeżdżę bardzo dynamicznie. Na światłach jestem zawsze pierwszy. Wtedy zasięg jest około 150 km. Ale jak będziesz jeździł spokojnie, to zrobisz 200 km. Jeszcze nie odważyłem się na wyjazd poza miasto i chyba nigdy nie wyjadę nim dalej niż 60km od miasta. Brak jest ładowarek na trasie. Ale widziałem gości co jeździli normalnie. Na ładowarkach doładowują sie na 80%, co trwa jakieś 20-30 minut i jadą dalej. Mnie ladowanie dziennie kosztuje jakieś 3 zł. Zabawa tym samochodem jest warta o wiele, wiele więcej. Polecam.

Indeed but we used frunk to carry way too many cables and adapters during our trips to also fit tire kit so it's been relegated to the trunk fyi
Maybe I missed it. Did you decide the range is too small for those occasional longer trips or does the DC quick charging make it less of a problem?
DC fast makes it a worthy road tripper ev but wish top speed was more than 50kw ..all the new evs now offer over 100kw up to 350kw
