    Love my Zygos. The combo of green and purple are the best.

    I just bought my first zygo and I saw a couple videos that said they’re difficult orchids... I’m so thankful you made this video because I had zero understanding before this and it explained a lot that other videos were lacking. I hope I can keep my soon to be new orchid (hasn’t arrive yet) happy and alive.

    I've just started learning about/getting some orchids and I think Zygopetalums are my favorite so far mostly because of the lovely violet/hyacinth fragrance, and also the violet colored ones and the leopard spots!

    I intend to buy one (in spring time so that I don't have any transportation problems due to low temperatures), either from Schwerter Germany, or from a new nursery that I found in Holland, Orchids-shop.eu. Looking forward to it. You see I am a purple color's, orchids' and scented orchids' Greek lover !!

      +KONSTANTINA CHATZINIKOLAOU I have heard many good things about Schwerter...and indeed you will absolutely love the Zygos...they are awesome!!! :)

    just picked a new Zygopetalum and a few vandas..ok and a ton of other orchids, from the orchid show here in st. louis today and I'm in love! The fragrance is so strong I can smell it on my cats' fur! Yours is so much more green and vibrant than mine is, are there different varieties/variations? the one I got is ...not ugly, but less vivacious.

      +TropicalPlantParty 1 A MAJOR CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR TREASURED FINDS AT THE ORCHID SHOW!!! I am so happy to hear that you made it out to an orchid show! ...and you are going to have to tell me what vandas you got...after all I AM A COMPLETE AND HOPELESS VANDA ADDICT! LOL! ...and yes you are absolutely right there are many variations of there zygos...I have seen them in maroons, magentas, and even pastel very light purple and blues...so it really just depends on the type that you get...this particular one is a "Jumping Jack"....and the fragrance of the zygos are indeed one of my favorite attributes of these magnificent plants.

    Thanks for that Care Video. I might try a Zygopetalum this year. So far I only have a Zygonisia Murasaki Komachi. Haven't killed it yet. And Zygo care seems similar to that one

    I bought the zygopetalum monkause pastis thinking that it would smell a lot but you have to bring the nose to the flower to enjoy its very cheating fragrance

    Many thanks for your video ,would you please teach me how to pollinate the Zygopetalum , I grow many and Paphiopedilum Hybrid in Taiwan ! thanks again !

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  8 років тому

      Thank you so much for joining me on my orchid adventures! :) Unfortunately I have never Pollinated as Zygo before...and unless your familiar with propagation through seeds...it is a pretty difficult process requiring lab conditions and certain chemicals...I haven't done it yet so I unfortunately I cannot guide you in that...but you may be able to find articles and other videos on it. Best wishes and HAPPY GROWING! :)
