they define false ban as accounts that have been banned but appealed and jagex has squashed it, so thats pritty much 36 lucky streamers the other false bans that dont exist just never got their account unbanned.
When Jagex say only 39 incorrect bans have been identified, it's exactly that, identified. Of course Jagex will lowball the figure as they refuse to investigate bans.
I want to see more content creators getting false banned. Content creators represent a very small percentage of this community. I've had 2 this year and 6 in 2021, and many other in my bulk community experiencing this issue. The number of false bans is likely in the 1000s.

Got 2 merch accounts perm banned for botting but I didn't even train skills, just bank stand and flip items every 4 hours. There are ton of false bans and appeals get denied :)
My Ironman was banned this last year for no reason, and I have never botted or macroed (way to scared to lose hours spent on an account) and appealed it and got it back, but I was so stressed. Took 3 days but ban was lifted and all marks gone on my account. False bans are stupid real.

When I was younger my dad signed onto my RuneScape account and started messaging other men and asking them for inappropriate things. A few days later my account was banned and I told my mom about the situation and it caused a lot of turmoil between them.

Hey behemeth, I do think these 24 "hours" ban are actually a flag counter. let me explain, jagex uses a system that detect behaviours that are uncommon, such as doing one activity for long period of time, logging hours same, etc... When it flags it give temporary ban on the account, it makes scripters(A.ka) botters afraid , even if the bot look indeed "real" or give ban to people that have "mains" or other high valuable accounts and bot casually. People that botted will ofc, not appeal the offense. People that didnt bot and got false flagged will appeal and will get squashed. That's how it works, so jagex choose to risk false flag to stop "mains" or high skills accounts to bot, even casually. it seems reports help a bit on triggering this, thats why only one of his accounts got temp ban. Ezscape got his account flagged, and squashed. How I know that? I've run an account playing "normally" and using a known private bot named "OSMB", which had very low ran bates, people getting 200m firemaking xp without bans. I've botted on that account for like 3 months, got several skills 99, ofc playing abit ... and then got 2 day ban. I really think that they don't have enough evidence and they just "flaggred" , just like evscape, thats because I got lots of xp in low period of time which 99% of osrs community doesnt do. Don't surprise me that false bans are rare because only 1% of playerbase get more than 2 million xp per day , so if you have 200k players, only 2000 people(real) are playing more than 12 hours and getting insane xp, if 43 people are banned each day, it means 2% of that top are getting banned everyday, if the same players continue playing for more than 12 hours and getting insane xp, most likely 50% of them will receive a false ban in 1 month.
Been commenting on community channels for a year now trying to get my wrongful ban overturned. IGN "1v1r" banned for "botting", 1850+ ttl, multiple inferno kc, hundreds of cox kc, over 10k kills in pvp, ect... And this account has been banned for 2 years+ mind you.
The funny part is that if that was a normal player, and he had the 0.1% chance that a Jmod saw his post on reddit about getting banned, the Jmod would reply with "We looked into it and your bans are legitimate". The fact that EVScape got banned for that in the first place proves how primitive their anti-cheat technology is, all it would have had to do is look at his mouse movements to see he wasn't cheating. Instead, they just relied on absolute basics such as ip address, no. of accounts, activity and location.
All while Jagex claims they've only falsely banned 38 accounts total....Uh huh. Evscape is just lucky he is an influencer with connections or his account would be gone.

Should have not gotten help, sent in an appeal so that way when it got denied we could have some nice public records with no doubt that the appeal system gets it wrong and the number of false bans they supplied us with is a blatant manipulation of numbers.
