@@perpetuality for sure, it increased my appreciation of it. My favorite thing about the watch is the blue seconds hand. I don't even mind if it's just painted, it always catches my eye.
Just got the SPB213, after becoming infatuated with the pearlescent, silver dial-nice change from everyone’s else’s gray and black dials. This watch while slightly heavy is SO comfortable on my 6 3/4” wrist-particularly after wearing a Turtle for the last few years. What I want to get across is that this bracelet-also on the SPB143-gets a bad rap, and it’s not entirely fair; yes, the diver’s extension and the endlink’s at the case are not well done for a $1K+ watch. And let’s not get into the horrid pin/collar link construction! But this is the best quality Seiko bracelet I’ve seen in 35 years of wearing Seikos. It’s thick and weighty, and the oyster links are in a great rolling pattern-very classic. And I find the milled clasp very smooth and adequate for a $1k price point watch. They got a perfect fit for me by just removing links-without having to utilize the micro adjusting pin. That’s the first time ever for me with any watch. I chose this watch at the dealers comparing it side by side with a Tudor 39. The Tudor is beautiful too-but while also vintage inspired, this Seiko’s lighter color theme and 62MAS dial/hands was just more soothing to the eye than the more traditional dark “Rolex” dial and the snowflake hands of the Tudor. I always thought I was a traditional diver guy, a true Submariner aficionado, but this 213 has really changed my tastes.
It’s a beast of a watch that 039- for a particular seiko diehard- love the 143 and thanks for watching and happy to see you here from over on the gram!
I’ve owned the 039 twice, just couldn’t get used to the height and the skinny strap, amazing watch nonetheless. The 037 though is my jam and will never leave my collection
@@perpetuality Worn both the 037 and 025. I find the 037 more wearable but the finishing on the 025 far superior. SLA 025 is the limited edition from 2019 that is just like the 039 but with a gilt color scheme.
Excellent video of two great Seiko watches! Lovely macro shots and a good detailed look. I just can’t pick between these two different watches - both amazing!! ⌚️⌚️😍👌
Snagged the new 213 for under $1k. The lowbeat 6L35 does not really compete with the smoother 8L35 running in my SLA017 but of course is much less expensive. Wish the 213 had the polished inner bezel and deleted X of the 017.
@@masculine1967 I have the 143 and it is a fantastic watch. But, I might get the 213 as well and put it on a strap. It looks like a strap monster, rubber to nylon to NATOs. The 143 is great on the bracelet and.
I have the 143 and 147, both beautifull dials. The 143 is the most versatile of the bunch...the whole SPB 62mas line is amazing....the only downside is the movement (slower beat rate and varying tolerances). Thinking of getting the 213 to complete the trio hmm....
I had the 143 and sold it (nothing wrong with it I just pretty much sell any watches that are not gifts within a year!), I recently got the 213 and love it but the main difference for me is that as a daily wearer, the 143 will look great once it’s beat up a bit (like tudors and Rolexes do) but I’m not sure the 213 will suit scratches and scuffs as well. It’s incredible and I find myself staring at it and moving it slightly to see how the light plays with it, but it doesn’t feel as much like a tool watch as the darker dials
For that price I want it on a bracelet , AND they can include the strap as well! But for $5500-$6000 you're in the territory of a Tudor BB58 and for me there is no comparison (Tudor all the way).
The Tudor is no match for an SLA. It's practically a grand Seiko. 36000 vph, crazy high standard finishing. I hope this kind of snobby attitude towards Seiko continues because it means I'll never have to wait in line or pay a premium for one
@@jimmason8502I own both and I can tell you there is no one single thing in which the BB58 is better. Not the finishing, (and especially) nor the movement
I wish the 039 or the recent limited edition 62MAS reissues came with a bracelet as well because I think they would look next level with them. I have the 143 and am starting to appreciate the brushed stainless steel bezel. Good video!
Thanks so much for your kind comment! I think it’s a delicate balance with the 039- a bracelet is really needed but I think it would push the watch to $7k and higher. Tough call 🤔
A pure white (enamel?) dial would look incredible on this - as would blue lume. I needed to see how white that silver looked (or vice versa) so thanks for showing it. Nb indices is the plural of index and indice isn't a word. Cheers
Digging into it, seems a bunch of these SLA pieces are just GS models in Seiko clothing. Interesting how they're willing to go this far for these anneversary pieces.
Having owned both I prefer the 147 for everyday wear the darker dial and gilt indices makes it like an affordable bb58. The 213 though good I do think it’s best as a summer watch. The 147 looks great on even a leather strap. Whereas the 213 lives on the bracelet for me. Thanks for watching!
@@breakers1986 I have the 213. Though I agree the 147 is a better colour. Just had too many Grey and black watches. Plus blue and silver meant something at the time so went for the 213
I have the 147 and love it. But something about the white and blue combination is something to behold! I I have also the 143 and need to add this 213 to complete the trio!!!!
Just bought a pre-owned 213 for basically half price. It looks new. Love it… but it’s losing about 20 seconds / day. Technically that’s “acceptable” I guess and I own enough watches that it won’t be my daily, but seems like significant inaccuracy for a watch like this.
I have owned the SLA025 and SLA039. I absolutely love the design and on-wrist feel of the mono-bloc case. But, the watch accuracy (+7 and +10 s/d) was ultimately the reason I sold both. It is unacceptable that a 5-7k USD watch is not better regulated. I will not own another Seiko high-end diver. They represent the worst value for money of any watch brand in this price range.
Nice but that cheap metal keeper is a big no no . It’s the standard metal keeper you find on other less expensive divers and it’s absolute rubbish. I don’t understand why they just don’t do a good quality rubber keeper like the used to do back in the day; that would be so much better. If you do a metal keeper at least make sure it s machined well , with no sharp edges and it’s comfortable. And get rid of the branding on the keeper, that’s just gaudy and overkill. On the metal bracelet it’s too heavy for me, also their metal bracelets need improving . Such a shame because the rest is really nice . They just refuse to listen to their customers . Call it stubbornness , call it arrogance, call it pride ; I call it a lack of intelligence .
I would seriously say no they are no longer worth the price. Over a thousand bucks, no ceramic bezel, no signed Crown, no date broader or colour match and a pretty average movement. So many other brands offer twice as much for half the price.
@@GrumpyLib6969 if you want a diver look at the certina ds action diver. Eta movement with anti magnetic properties. Non diver look at the Swiss watch company bunker. I been wearing mine for a year and it's deviation had been - 1.3 spd.
Yeaaah I normally do use a tripod- this one time it just wasn’t with me (was trying not to fall off the edge of the garden too lol). The original 6159 was that thick too- think of this a heritage reissue for diehard seiko fans. They’ve got thinner watches like the mm200 for the everyone else
I am not sure if you have held the SLA in hand but it is definitely not a $1500 watch especially with a high beat movement. Though i think they could go down in price the SLA is constructed from a Grand Seiko studio with more attention to the case. The steel is a higher grade and harder wearing one too. The SPB on the other hand- they are great for the money but even better with a discount. Just my two cents.

What Seiko need to do is produce a watch as good as this but make the size more usable, at 15.7 x 44.5 x 19mm is way off for most people.
Maybe use the new MM200 case and give it a 8L55 movement and better dial quality 👊
