you can find fresh wild strawberries in the spring are the neighborhood while walking your pup. also sweet clover florets or maybe some early cherry fruit. give these to your Quail along with some blackberries or raspberries or minced apple core, and the seeds may germinate in the flight pen for next year.
we plant white mulberry tress around our bobwhite flight pen that drops fruit in the fall. Both Coturnix and Bobwhite Quail love it.

I harvest the wild greens for my quail but never considered wild strawberries, thanks for the suggestion.

do you still use the cages?

Yes. We use our cage system for our coturnix breeders and hatching eggs. We have a hutch for coturnix hens we sale, and the TSC brooder tower for selling Coturnix chicks.
The flight pen is for our Bobwhite as they may end up as gamebirds.
