You would figure that if you wanted to tame the harshness of the CD player or source material,You would use paper in oil capacitors and not polypropylene, film or Teflon caps that bring out every little detail in the signal.....That is how many people have ruined old guitar and stereo amplifiers by using modern caps.....

I was wondering why you are bothered to upgrade it when you noticed no difference using it?

Hi, I'm hoping by upgrading the internal parts & adding the upgrade power supply, it will give my digital side of the system a more analogue sound, all the parts supplied & the tubes, are a big step up from the original parts, thanks for commenting & watching 👍

Hi Ian thanks for taking the time to make this video , as I remember MF did a whole range of equipment using the same design casework. As a company they have always been at the forefront of hifi , and are still producing high quality products . Best wishes as always 😀👍👍👍

Then you'll need a real tube amp.

Could I upgrade mine by just replacing the tubes/valves?

Hello Andrew, yes upgrading the tubes will give you an improvement, here's a link to the tubes I would use, thanks for commenting & watching 👍 www.watfordvalves.com/product_detail.asp?id=5093

Best way to improve this would be to bypass the tubes :)

Enjoyed the video but I’ve always been dubious about things like this as time to add in another set of interconnects, extra circuitry and PSU it’s more likely to detrimental to the sound. It will certainly sound different but at what cost?

It's supposed to add a bit of smooth valve sound to an otherwise harsh or coldish sounding set up.

I know what you mean, I don't like anything else in the chain either, I'm hoping this is different, if it doesn't work, I won't use it, thanks for commenting & watching 👍

? after about 50 connections via the amp intenrals , you think one more is going to be detrimental???

In this case you're 100% right. This 'tube' buffer is a scam.

I have been using it with my high end MSB DAC (and separate power supply). I have a high end Parasound preamp and amp and I think it adds quite a bit in terms of adding warmth and "tuby" tone to be honest.

Did u test it before putting it back together??

Pointless device. This does not use tubes as amplification. That's impossible when only fed 12v DC. This is a filter, not a tube amp. Upgrading this would be turning it into a real tube amp. People want to be fooled, especially those who claim to be audiophiles, but really have no clue 🤡

Yes but I suppose the point is to try one. If you think it's crap , don't use it. If you like the difference, if any, then all good.
It doesn't matter what it's doing, it's an accessory that you can use to alter the output sound of the cd player if your cd sounds harsh it might be an accessory you can use without upgrading your CD player or DAC.

@@adotopp1865 no, the point is that this is a scam, and nothing else.
