Got scammed at a bar here in Jordan, girls came and sat at the table just chatted for 10 minutes and tried to leave and was stuck with an 800 dollar bill. I was gonna fight but 10 security guys popped up and 1 cop, i paid with my card just to get out of the building and immediately contacted my bank to have them cancel the purchase as fraud. Dirty bastards.
When you said fraud to bank, did you explain what actually happened, or did you just say someone used your card and keep the story simple?
That would be tough to explain but it is extortion

Since my military days I learned how to cut my own hair. Military bases are 14.50. Every time I cut my hair I think of the money I am saving.
I've been cutting my own hair for about 40 years. I use a scissors and only snip a little at a time.
I’ve done it a few times over Covid. Every time I end up just shaving it bald cause I did such a bad job 😂

Aloha Greeny! Welcome back to Bangkok. I love the HiSo areas! That’s why when I made the move to Thailand I chose to live in BKK; a trendy vibe is awesome! Say, if you’re in town for awhile, it would be terrific to go out for a drink. Maybe even hold an informal meet up as I’m sure those of us here in BKK can arrange to do so easily. As for your story, I think it’s a little harsh to overall decline the chance for a local to take us newbies to some cool places. In this case, while the girl was smooth, the guy was really ignorant. The rule is only one drink per establishment. Next, everyone should know getting a table in a club means money! He could have said no early on.

He was stupid. On a first date you chose where to go. Secondly you never order anything without seeing the price because if you order and don’t ask you have to pay for it. Especially meeting a girl you don’t know. Stupid is stupid does.

“Do you think he’s stupid?” 🤣 Absolutely! My sympathy level for foreigners that get scammed by anyone in the nightlife scene is nil. I won’t go so far as to say they deserve it, but in this day and age of instant information there is no excuse for allowing yourself to get club/bar scammed.

I agree with your statement about you picking the place. In Treetown I had that same type of experience so it can happen anywhere. I knew when they were bringing the drinks something was wrong so I said no and walked out before they put the drinks on the table. It can happen anywhere. I do agree never to go with a woman to her favorite place. Once she says it then it is time to find someone else. Are you really thinking of buying a place or renting a place in Bangkok? Just be near the bts or mrt. I would not buy as I think bad things are going to happen in the next few years in China and all of se Asia may have its real estate crumble. Right now very bad storm clouds are hanging over the chinese real estate market. 70 percent of their developers are not paying their bonds. Can you really live in BKK for more than 3 weeks? I find it is too hectic, but nice for a week or two. Enjoy and thanks for the video.

Love your Scam Sunday stories! Had not heard of this type of scam. My only similar incidents were down in Patpong in Bangkok but I got out relatively cheaply. It was a first trip to the city so I figure it was sort of a “right to passage” that so many people go through. My other incident was in Japan where the Karaoke places can really be expensive and you don’t realize what everything is costing while you’re having innocent fun. But if you can learn from these incidents, you may save yourself from even greater problems down the road.

In Pattaya..Always meet first time outside a Seven 11 store...grab a cheap drink & go to the beach to sus her out. Never go to a bar where she recommends & knows the staff. If you get a bad vibe from her then its easy to move on & its only cost you 1 cheap drink from Seven 😆

My thoughts would be ,,if it was me just like u said never go on a blind date to somewhere they suggest... So anyway if it was me and i went to the first place she suggests to meet for some food and a couple of drinks where the bill came to 3,800thb were it should have been normally 1,000thb. Then I would have said to myself "OK u got me".
I would have said goodnight and see u soon ,i had a great night and left , never to see her again. I wouldn't have agreed to go onto a 2nd suggestion, a nightclub and her telling me to book a table for 1,000thb. The moral of the story is your friend got the message he got stung on the first bill but he was too soft to end it there and say goodnight. The thing is, this doesn't happen a lot to guys where they get scammed twice in the one night whereby the second scam was always gonna be a bigger price.. Plain a simple your friend is a stupid Farang.

Keep up the videos! I actually had one of the most rememberable nights going out in Thailand (Chang Mai). Went with one of my friends to some after party in a night club where we met two Thai ladies. Finished around 02:30AM and had a really great night so far (was a little little drunk haha). It was fun with all the people partying. My friend left to the hotel. I ended up in a bar (in some shady alley) with the two girls, 5 minutes away from the club. In a normal state of mind no one would ever go there, but yeah my drunk brain couldn't care. There was only one way out of this bar through one 5 meter long hall way.
Drank soooo much alcohol before we even went to this bar, that I just didn't want anymore drinks. They continued buying beers. The place was kinda weird. Not that I felt really unsafe, but there were some people which in my drunk state didn't fit the puzzle.. I decided to leave without any hassle after 20 minutes. Outside one of the girls tried to let me stay, I couldn't.
Still to this date I don't think they had anything bad in mind, they were just having there regular weekend off and stumbled across this Farang dude which wanted a great night just like them. When I woke up, she had send my a photo that they crashed with there scooter and were in the hospital (never drink when driving ahhahahaha). I follow one of the girls on instagram and we still have some small conversations. That's it and I think I'll stick with that.

Been stung in my early days here in Thailand but I got out at 2,000 Baht. But got scammed in China but it was so good they deserve the money, £120 scam but angry at the time but laugh now. Many scams here in Thailand. In Bangkok next week for a couple of days.
Amazon are great value. My haircut I’d 80 baht would never pay high so prices.

First of all, if you're meeting someone from the internet, then your radar should be on HIGH ALERT. Second, it seems like your buddy was gullible and learned a very important lesson that could have been WAY more expensive in a different situation. Only cost him a few hundred dollars and he's no worse for wear, lesson learned hopefully. NEVER go to a club on a first date, because NOTHING good is going to come out of THAT experience.

That guy was dumb , he should know better than to not ask what is he paying for and what is the price before saying yes , if no answer then walk ...... When you buy drinks , ALWAYS pay for it as it comes this way you owe nothing and never leave the bill to be accumulated

The minute the restaurant was 3 times as much as he knew it should be. He should have bailed on her or not followed the suggestion. She was acting like the taxi scams in most countries.

I tip 10% here. In fact I got to a local place by my house a few days a week and they are always very appreciative about the tip and always treat me very well. I think I am the only Farang that eats there

I am not sure if it would be a scam.
I was hanging around in Antalya, Turkey and this Turk came up to me - and we decide to go drink something. I had wine but - he just took water and a small coffee. I had one more wine and asked but he did not want to drink more - said its because of ramadan. And then he invited me to go to a fish restaurant up the somewhere river.
I thought ok why not. He said my car is just over there. I said ok but I have to go the toilet.
But inside the toilet I suddenly felt ekstreme paranoid - thinking what the f are you up to no no no don't go.
So I told him- you know what I think I need to go to my hotel and take a siesta. We can meet later - he was like give me your telephone number - and he checked that it was the right number.
Back in the hotel I told the staff - if somebody ask for me tell that I am not inn. The guy phoned but I did not pick up and I blocked the number.
So I don't know if it was just a dinner invitation or a scam.
But anyway:

When I'm in Bangkok I go to Lek Barber near Asok. 150 baht for the haircut and they do a fine job.

In 1993 I backpacked around Thailand and I had not long arrived in Bangkok and I was still susceptible to the Thai charm I befriended this group of students but then they tried to sell me gold so I was suspicious. But I still bought them lunch and got overcharged, no big deal and lesson learned.
So many lesson being the minority in a place with different cultures. Constant education

I've done fair with Thailand Friendly. Gal must be 45 plus, and have a job and car. 😀 That formula never fails. I've never been conned by a Thai woman, but my first night in Bangkok a tout took me to a speak easy bar in Patpong area after hours. I walked out after noticing too many idle unruly men in back of bar.

The prey has learned, and is outsmarting the hunters. Best bet is to move on to a Country with less experienced girls. They have learned all of the dirty Farang tricks. This is like gambling, some games are expensive to learn. Stay safe out there mongers !

@@GreenyTravels Brian, even up here in the middle of nowhere , I am constantly hearing these stories with the expats that I run into. There seems to be a lot of doomed transactional relationships. From giving 15k-20k monthly sponsorships, to building village houses, they set themselves up for failure. The 20-30 year age gap and lack of understanding of Thai language and culture certainly doesn’t help. Short term rentals may be the best option for some. 555

These bar ladies and free lancers and massage ladies are slick as snot on a rail. There are some real pros and they have bank accounts and own properties you would be envious of. As you said their are many sharks and hustlers in the dating game and caveat emptor is a must when entering this environment.

I met a Broad at a bar in Walking street. I met up with her a few days later and let her pick the bar to meet. She picked Lucifer.... went in there and she was honest about a discount she gets for the table and booze. There are two prices on the menu and she was asked by the waitress, which one she wanted (Price)... The Broad told them to give the discounted price... I think I got bottle service and mixers for 150 USD.. I let the staff store what remained in the bottle and gave her the ticket to drink at a later date... These things do happen with duel pricing and the Broads making a commission... even if the price was 300 for bottle service, you could not touch that in any club in the USA .. 😃

I had a similar more costly experience by two smooth ladies that took me to a restaurant, then nightclub that was all Thai like a Las Vegas showclub.
I hate to admit that I could see it all developing and continued trusting their words.
Eventually, it was double your friends expense and a costly lesson for a first timer in Thailand.
In the end it was valuable after now approaching my two year in Thailand anniversary.
Things can always be worse.
