      @@h7opolo Agreed. Unless you have a very large family, don't care about what brand you purchase, and spend a fortune each year ($6000 just to pay for membership?), it is generally not worth it. On the other hand, making the membership fee worthwhile may be the reason Costco is having a problem with people letting others use their cards. And rumor is that membership fees will increase this year.

      @@jstephens2758 I actually make back more than my Costco membership using the Executive membership, I've been a member for probably 20+ years and have definitely saved a ton of money on everything from chicken to eggs to high quality clothing. On top of that I have the Citi Visa and get over $700 back each year on top of the money I get back for having an Executive membership (2 separate checks I receive) Everyone has to do what works for them, but there is definitely a savings if you do it right at Costco. They have not raised their membership in several years (they used to do it every 2 yrs) and their business model shows they make their money on membership, so their markup on product is extremely low compared to grocery and retailers.

    Fresh and frozen items at the back of the store is not some sort of "trick" to make you walk to the back. It is a very practical thing to have the majority of the equipment that supports those areas located at the back of the store. Large vent fans for the bakery, compressors and refrigeration lines for the freezers and coolers and so on. That stuff is bulky and noisy and not having it at the front of the store makes sense.

    Moving items and making people go on a treasure hunt is the biggest mistake any retailer can make. It doesn’t increase sales, it wastes a shoppers time, and time is limited.

    • @davidbwa
      @davidbwa 10 місяців тому +1

      They greatly exaggerated how much costco does this. at least my local one. Sometimes things get moved for seasonal - like items typically used for BBQ get moved to an island of that stuff. And the stuff along the 'fence' near the entrance changes with the sale flyers. But on the whole - I know were everything is at my local costco and I can find it just fine. And when I can't - a quick ask gets me the location. I don't have to 'treasure hunt'.

      Men's dress shirts are a fraction of the cost at Costco. Izod is 17.99, Calvin Klein is 19.99, while their KS brand is 22.99. That's at least five to ten dollars cheaper then retail! Also NON FOODS stuff.. consider that. Deals abound!

    Shop with a list and stick with it. Stay away from the cheap quality shelf stable ultra processed foods. The clothing sucks for the most part unless you like huge logos, stretchy synthetic materials and HUGE sizes. Search for healthy foods that they do have there. Skip most of the vitamin and supplements as most are of the cheapest quality. A good place for liquor for those who drink.
