Just watched while laying in a hospital bed waiting for back surgery. I was a Mammoth Unbound cat operator from 02-05. What went down there at that time was next level! Every day in those parks the best in the world were pushing the limits. I remember my first day in Mammoth riding up the lift. I looked down at the half pipe and here’s Tanner spinning 10’s right in front of me. I thought damn, this is exactly why I moved here! Thanks for the memories!
Some people have more drive, more balls, more of the intangible. Some thrive in sports, business or academics. It doesn’t make someone worth more as a person. It does make their story more interesting.
the film achieves what it wanted. superhuman ski skills, but still a normal guy with normal problems under the hood. hats off tanner, showing your real YOU without masquerade.
Great fantastic film of a legend, Tanner Hall should put his knowledge and experience into teaching the upcoming stars of the sport he loves . Learning them about the pit falls and how to deal with the pressures of film makers etc.
53 years old , still shredding Whistler /Blackcomb and the backcountry sledskiing and hiking . Tanner has always been a favourite to watch to get pumped for the season . This was very inspirational and hit the heartstrings . What these guys do is next level , can’t believe anyone would hate on any of them for any reason !?? Thank you for awesome ski films . 🙏🏼
Wow so many memories come flooding back. I'm a snowboarder but we would watch tanners films and get inspired (no pun intended). Lot's of my group have grown up and and had families. Tanner is a rider who reminds me of so many incredible years in the mountains with a group of my mates that went through so much together. Thanks guys
This movie tells me one thing. HUMAN TO BE HUMAN. For tanner it is skiing. For me it is dance. Im a hop dancer and choreographer looking young and still the drive despite being 40. I look 27 but my bones say my age. Doubt... fear...stress, the never ending drive to stay the best. Coming from pure hell of a life with that driving force to do to be to live ur true self and create. This story was the underlying layer of humanity to be human to be real...to not be perfect no matter how perfect u may seem. This story wasnt flashy but when i saw tanner and talk about the wayside of fellow travelers i felt that so hard cuz the one thing we cant beat is time. This world doesn't love us only what we do. And soon the accolades and the gold tarnishes alike. Ive come to accept the one thing in our young mans game... nothing lasts . And there is no legacy ever. We come we go and were forgotten no matter how good we were. Even the all time greats are a distant memory. And the new marches in their place. Thats why i made my peace with the Lord. I come from death violence abuse poverty etc etc etc.but I became a great artist. Money means nothing. Thankyou God for lifting me above the mundane and the busy world of those who can never truly love us. I found my purpose and that is Christ my king.... it is my hope and peace from a lively but hard life. I lived at the top but as i said nothing lasts. And no matter what we attain we can't take it with us after we move on from this life. I learned the hard way that life is cruel and harsh. So i go where the love is. Thankyou my King i never should of survived....
I heard of Tanner years ago with all his success in the X games. Man, what a talent! After watching this documentary, Tanner is the real deal, no doubt. Congrats Tanner! Looking forward to the next chapter! 👊🏼✌🏼
What an inspiration…im 37 years old now and been a fan since always… every winter watching his ski movies… listening his message and trying to mix it with my own style…. i still get goosebumps every time he speaks about how he feels… Thank you tanner, you make me remember why i started and why i’ll always love skiing. FREEskiing it’s a lifestyle… and it’s forever.
Super nice one! When I have been paralyzed after an accident videos like this made me find the strength to continue fighting against all the odds. It gave and still gives me that little spark needed to ignite the fire! Thanks for the inspiration and the great work.
Its that time of year again! Getting all the gear ready too early, watching ski vids and checking the weather reports hoping for some good news. Great doc about a living legend! Stay safe this season everyone!
F’ing legendary. I’m 49. Vail local 1996-2000 so I know the whole life and gotta lyk how much I appreciate you. You’re a Lion bro! Keep it up for us old heads 💪🏼!
I'm not a skier, but, nicely done. Saw Tanner at Mammoth last year at mid station waiting for the top to pop. This film brings a lot of context into his riding.
I was living in Squaw Valley and skiing the same day C.R died. The line C.R died he had skied thousands of times. He was a very humble person gone too soon. I'f you read this, Tanner I remember you skiing Park City when you were about 13ish. I have the same disease Noah Woodcock has. I know you have a hard life but I am lucky I wake up in the morning. You got to live a life that other's dream. Hopefully you realize that, maybe focus a little on helping other's. From Docrip.
I work at squaw and have the replays of the freeride tour on most days so I've watched T's runs a bunch. I also coach big mountain and coached park for many years and what you really need to understand is how the judges are scoring. So there's definitely strategy that needs to be employed. Its different than park comps becuase there are way more variables involved. And also as a fellow quadro-genarian, you have to really have everything dialed in. A lot of competitors I know get labs done often to track everything from hormone levels to iron to protein levels. And then adjusting diet and workouts around where theyre at physically. You can't stay out partying and then show up and kick everyone's ass like ya could at 20. Not at all saying that's what T was doing, I'm just comparing what the difference is as a high level athlete at 20 vs 40. It's hard and the days of having everything come so easy don't seem that far away so it can really be challenging mentally when you have to bust your ass every day just to do the things you could roll out of bed and do 15 years ago. It takes a lot of work and even more mental fortitude. Strong in the mind and strong in the body
I've idolized Tanner for many years. Dude is the GOAT and only getting stronger. His values off the hill and what he believes in i would imagine that alot of us feel. To have the platform he does and the ability to peak his mind the way he does is a note we should all take. Great film!!
Constantine's disappointment (?) at Tanner's decision to pull out before the Bec came off as sneering disapproval or seeming disgust ...total weaksauce. Tanner may have a lot of faults but his ability to gut it out through incredible physical/emotional adversity isn't one of them. Kudos Tanner for having learned enough over the years to listen to your body/brain telling you not to run the Bec. Not finishing the FWT season doesn't diminish his achievements one particle. Tanner Hall is a monster.
@@theskilawyer bc it makes tanner look good and illustrates the mindset of where he was at. you come away from that scene understanding while tanner made that decision. also, there is guilt from constantine pushing to continue the shoot the day cr got injured; so this is tanner standing up to the decision. overall the movie is great, this part just came off a bit staged is all.
If TH's knees could talk, I can only imagine them to have the deepest voice you've ever heard. James Earl Jones mode but deeper. _Don't get me started on his ankles..._
Skiing is a way of exploring nature in the snow of transportation and a space of creation where you just can imagine things and doing it in no case should misunderstood with ski resorts the "real ski" isn't for all is only for the lovers of exploration and adventure and to tell and 1 last thing skis and snowboards as many other things can't buy with money this shouldn't exist at all
Busting my knees , probably saved my neck. 67 and same knees, but new skis. Volkle Bash and RTM's. "Drop the tips, and drive your hips." Glen Plake, told me once, at the top of Gunbarrel. Bang Bumps for life. Lead or follow,... just get the F**K outta my way. .Peace BNW .

Your park crew put together lines that are seared in my memory of ski videos past. Hope you're heeling up well.
Tanner is 40 now and still killing the game, coming back from so much adversity for the love of the sport. You have to respect it.
I respect everyone . He’s nobody more important then you and me

My favorite line is “ they should be worried because Tanner Hall is coming to get them” that gave me cold chills

Thanks for bringing this film up, it's very aspirational!
Inspirational film, well done. I have enjoyed watching Tanner ski for 24 years. A true legend and warrior.

that segment came off as staged for story telling purposes imo.

Incredible movie, but why did Constantine make half of it about himself? No one cares
Bro i really dont like the filmaker
Hahaha the camera man needs to get over himself
Tanner reminds me of every drug addict I have ever met. Great skier, mediocre person.
The narrator's words and inflection are painfully cringe. Not watchable

great skier but a wise man he is not. kind of a goof.
