Step 1: Automate Trains
Step 2: Darwin
leetfighter you don’t even have to automate the trains for Darwinism to take effect. Trains take about a mile to stop, so even if the engineer hits the emergency brakes, a car on the crossing is still likely to get hit.
@@spikethompson2000 I think leetfighter meant automate trains so the train can hit the car without risking hurting train crew, only the stupid car driver.
Ala M that’d be preferred, dumb=death
Ala M also no horns mwahahahah
Adam Chmielewski just like Horrible Histories: stupid deaths, stupid deaths, funny cause their true, stupid deaths, stupid deaths, hope next time it’s not you hoo hoo!
Edit: also there is a song (and game) called Dumb Ways to Die about train safety that proves how stupid we are too.
2:09-2:46 these people aren't just idiots, they're f**king insane.
Lol yeah
UA-cam video mouth idiom golden Sonic
Its not that hard to calculate distance and time. That's how baseball players catch flyballs, which is even less linear.
The last one didn't even look for sure.
Not like the train would suddenly gain 100 MPH.
It's not people putting their lives at risk that saddens me, it's that they can not pause for a minute to enjoy the beauty of a locomotive passing by.
Ikr both in fact.

When I saw the title "Compilation of Idiots" I was pretty certain this would be a 10 hour video
@efjiewjidoecs cmdslkcsdinv these kinds of videos are made exclusively about cowards who go on social media who have no picture no name no face and make stupid comments.
Thatd be a never ending video.
Great video displaying the dummies of today. Sadly this will continue to happen
Yep, If only people learn!
I hope once caught by a cop heavy fine & some days in the slammer.
some of these people won't keep doing it once they learn the hard way
@@LongmontRailway27 I don't think it's that they don't learn. I think it's that they don't think that the laws apply to themselves, or at least they don't care. Besides...they or their families can always use the railroad if someone ends up dead.
And yes, those lawsuits happen, especially in litigious states such as here in California. A couple of years back here in Burbank, there was a fitness guru making a video on the tracks when he was flattened by a Metrolink train, which had is horn blazing to warn him it was coming. His wife sued Metrolink for wrongful death.
BNSFBIshop those railroad idiots may get hit by a train in their vehicle
Are there federal laws against this, or is the responsibility of local law enforcement? Just wondering.
Both
It doesn‘t matter since its illegal anyways.. everywhere.

“The flashing lights and lowered gates mean that it must be safe to cross!”
- everyone in this video, probably
I love how these people think if the gates start coming down, it’s like a yellow traffic light, it means speed up!
I mean, it is kinda a yellow light? There are no other indications that a sudden stop signal is going to appear. If someone is traveling at 60mph and there's a sudden stop signal 50ft in front of them, they aren't stopping.
@@dimensions2and324 I’m pretty sure 3 cars in the entire video were doing anywhere near 60. Most of them slowly roll over the tracks as a train approaches.
I mean I don't blame them. A train is not like a car it can not speed up very fast.
Hey don't try to beat trains
Idiots: No, I don’t think I will
"Is the train close?"
"Nah, we're good."
When I was in drivers ed in high school, the teacher showed another compilation of cars and trains. Only that one showed what happened when the train won the race to the intersection. Looks like some drivers need to see that video as a refresher.
When the gates are down, don't go around!
I hope that barrier made a few dents in that guy's car,and wonder what he'd say if he tried to claim on the insurance and what response he'd get.
@@rjjcms1 lol
@@rjjcms1 Oh, he'll just sue the railroad for the damages.
@@antonbruce1241 And may that case be thrown out of court.
Some people are scary. Like I can’t imagine being a train driver and watching someone drive right in front
i wouldn't, the most that would happen is you'd feel a slight bump, i bet if you closed your eyes and plugged your ears you'd barely even notice. the car would be completely totaled but the train would be perfectly fine.
@@pardnergaming2136 so you don’t care about killing someone than getting sued or arrested?
@@niceplayertheyt5495 only killing someone, it wouldn't make sense for you to get sued if someone got in the way, as long as you do everything your supposed to do in that situation you did literally nothing wrong.
First video:
"Ah yes, currently the lights are flashing as the object to make me stop is going down slowly. This obviously means I should floor it through before the object fully goes down and the train arrives!"
I imagine every time that happens, the engine driver has to worry about whether or not the signals are working and that they might kill someone.
Just finished watching a video before this where the lights or gate didn't work and a train hit a vehicle.
A lot of people cut it stupidly close, but when you live in a junction town like mine and deal with 50 car trains at 5mph multiple times per day, you kind of understand.
The study of foul
Loco Pilot from inside:: """I am Honking !!!! Am I a Joke to you ???""""
D-face driver giving the 'bird' to the train: "Shut up, A-hole! I'm in a hurry, so f-off and get a real job!"
I hear this everytime.
@efjiewjidoecs cmdslkcsdinv Listen, lets make this Clear !!! I am from India !! And in India, ""Train Drivers"" are called as ""LP"" or Locomotive Pilot !! So, nothing shocking about that !!
And it is funny how when someone gets killed, it’s always the railroads fault for not having the “proper safety equipment”
What is the location at the 1:45 mark. Love those mountains in the background.
Highway 66 Railroad Crossing in Longmont CO
No time to waste, I'll keep going! If the train kills me I'll just respawn in another part of the map.
2:05 “ hey look it’s a heritage unit! Let’s get a REALLY close up view, then we’ll get a Darwin Award!”

I used to work near a crossing. Those are a bunch of amateurs.
I guess the pro's cut it a bit finer! ;-)
0:30 I love how it looks like it's just driving on the street.
I made a mild mistake once by following slow traffic too closely across our local crossing, as the alarms started while I was stationary waiting to clear. Luckily the crossing is attended and the dude re-raised the barrier. Never cross if you can't tell whether or not traffic ahead will keep going!
The trains will stop for you all right, yep. About a mile down the tracks after they've already hit you.
Are the trains in this video actually braking? Because I'm wondering like if a car just sped by and already go past, the train conductor wouldn't have any incentive to brake considering the massive waste of energy that would be
Nobody thinks about it, but the train drivers have no clue wether or not the signals have activated half the time. I would not like to be in a position where I don't know if the crossing ahead is working, especially when I see cars blazing through it.
Most crossing lights/flashers have a white lens on the side that the crew can see. If you are running at speed it won't matter because there is no way to get stopped in time. 38 years as an engineer, seen it all.
@@larrycummings7300 | Damn, that's got to be an experience.
@Craig F. Thompson BNSF
I actually love these guys
"Don't be an idiot" Great advice for all of us.
Never seen anyone cross around quad-gates. Wow!
Me nither
They weren't quad-gates, they were median gates. Still surprising for someone to go around.
@Longmont Railway: In my home town the problem is the opposite way, they obey the law and stop at rail road singnal, however when the gate rise back-up they don't wait for the light and the gate to fully lift and stop flashing, and I got an idot honk at me for not going when the gate lifted, I know this is rare in my home town and it only happen once. but sometimes this can happen the gate lift but the flashing rail road sign will not stop flashing because they are about to go down again right away because another train is passing, so that is why always wait in rail road singnal that the flashing red light fully stop.
Is the last clip from Painted Post, Ny?
What I never thought about before is, that you actually warn others who might follow in their car aswell, when you stop and wait even though you know you can make it in time
Some of these areas dont have the lowering gate, and if they do it seems its delayed.
Every single one of these clips has something rare railfanning wise
Unfortunately I used to be one of those "idiots" when I was younger. Then after being a EMT and trying to scrape the bodies off the car. Sad
Saw this first hand last year at a crossing. Guy was stopped behind me at the gate, drove around me and the gates and barely made it over the tracks; about 5 seconds after he cleared the far side a freight train came whizzing by full speed. If he had drove even a little bit slower, he would've been crushed like an egg. Seriously people? Is your life really worth so little to you?
Damn
I recall some train crossings getting the pole replaced with ground lifting barriers.
These people think it’s more important to be on time for work than get crushed to death by a moving 10,000 ton steel brick
These people are the reason why we have guards alongside track barriers in India
That's true. Some crossing w/o gates, haven't hit a car, yet. After a car is hit by a train, they install RR gates. The state pays for it.

You look like Cat In The Hat
Same people who like loud music in their cars and at home ..
Loud music covers the train sirens .. and eventually they become deaf and incapable of hearing sirens ..
I can relate to them wanting to get past before the train passes, because 90% of the time it take 5-15 minutes till a long as hell train to pass you. And all because they want to get as much load as possible on each trip
Natural selection will hit you buddy peace out
How long is dead?
Ilian Fischer yea dying isnt too bad now it only costs a life... o.O
Buddy, you really gonna risk your life to save 5 minutes?
damn, so you really going to put your life at risk to save 10 minutes? It's just a couple minutes, be patient.
The thing that gets me is not the folks speeding through the crossings. It's the number of trains that go through the middle of residential neighbourhoods.
how did he get the footage
Looks like a couple were just a matter of timing. One looked like the lights came on as the car approached and had no choice but keep going, otherwise they would have stopped on the tracks. The mini van, at least they stopped and backed up.
This is why they started putting islands at most the gates in my town. And all but one at the tracks from the railyard
Have seen malfunctioning crossings. Kept going up and down without a train in sight either direction.
Can anyone please tell me what the crossings in this video are?
Various locations mostly around Longmont.
There are a number of crossing around here, some with lights and crossing arms and some with just lights. The ones with just lights flashing are treated the same as a stop sign. You stop, look, and can go when safe. Otherwise you could be there for hours because trans stop just past the crossing and sit for long periods of time while they switch out cars down the track.
Like nerdcubed once said,
“Yah because trains are known for stopping really really really fast!”
All it takes is one of these fools to get hit and hopefully explain "I never heard the massively loud train horn"
0:51 that part is an issue at a railroad crossing in my side of town.

I lived in Longmont for 12 years, 2 blocks from Atwood St.. Some people are just crazy.
I want to do what school bus drivers are requested to do:
Stop at the gates when they aren't flashing
No. If other vehicles behind, you are impeding traffic and you may cause a rear-end collision.
Bus and hazmat drivers arequired to stop in case the mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* have failed toperate.
Though such failures arextremely rare, I listen and look when approaching railroad grade crossings.
Am very surprised to see how many crossings don't have boom gates in a built up areas. In Perth, Western Australia we have boom gates everywhere, limited to country but, even there they have them
Before I retired, I saw way too many cars, going around downed gates, if they thought the gates were down for too long.
Knew a guy in Minnesota that tried beating trains on his snowmobile, rolled snake eyes one nite, they had to hose him off the front of the train and his ride could be carried off in 5 gallon buckets.
I was the engineer for this one. A fan just happened to be at the commuter station by the crossing. This idiot disappeared below my view from the cab, which means he was less than 20 ft. from getting clobbered. Crossing has since been made into a four-way gates crossing. Queensbury Rd., Riverdale Park, MD. Train speed 47 mph in a 50 mph limit area. Link: ua-cam.com/video/cmra0WpCIDA/v-deo.html
Those drivers must have very good music playing not to hear the the warning bells and horn of a heavy train.
2:38.. Track goes right through a residential neighborhood, I see a railroad crossing sign but no gate? A little confusing other than a loud train barreling your direction, lol.
Yeah, not sure how that is supposed to work, especially for deaf people. Crazy. At least here if there is not gates the train can only go 10 MPH.
I know someone who was ran over by a train. He is missing a leg and a few fingers

If you have a CDL, KISSit goodbye.
I live near a crossing of the NJT Riverline day time and NS at night. Bells and Lights...can't do a gate because of the width and angle of the streets....a dude on a bicycle with headphones could not see the lights nor hear the bells....a helicopter transported him to a trauma center...it's a well lit crossing, but stupid is not curable
Great footage, I guess these people use the when in doubt hit the gas 😁 I Liked & subscribed 👍😎
Here in UK the gates go right across the road. You cannot drive around them after they are down.
Worst I ever saw was yrs ago. A Penn Central train was standing at a crossing w/the gates down, flashers going. The driver of a Volkswagon Beetle assuming this train to be the reason for the gates/flashers, and drove around the gates and collided w/a fast moving freight train on an adjacent main track hidden by the 1st train killing the Volkswagon's driver instantly!
In Bulgaria the barriers drop 5 minutes before the coming of the train. I'm pretty shocked to see that in USA the signalisation starts a couple of seconds before the train
0:30
What Train Type?
In Indoensia, these thing are common at railroad crossing in Indonesia. Btw, good video! from Indoenesia.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Ppl have these train drivers anxious everyday bc they work in fear hitting someone. Not only is it stupid, it's selfish.
We’ve passed train gates by going around it was because the crossing was broke so a cop had to tell when we could go throgh
Those gates are down, lights are flashing, & bells are ringing for a reason.
That first one was like: *I am speed.*
Their girlfriends probably said they are home alone thats why
This is everyday mate , the texts are more important . liked and subbed mate
I think that from time to time they should place cops on both sides of the tracks and stop all that cross that way and give them a ticket and keep them there until after the train is long gone!
I walk to shop and a train track runs across two streets I take. If I see a train coming, I stop and wait, regardless how far it is away from the crossing.
Florida man mode intensifies
Railroad tracks and roads crossings are never at a 90 degree angle, so it's difficult at times to accurately gauge how close the train is.
in our country if you drive over the red signal you lose your license for half a year
As one of my friends said, better to be a few minutes late in this world than 40 years early in the next.
All of these people cross railroad when a train is coming reminds me when people run stop signs. I was almost hit by three stop sign runners within a three minute period.
the fact that people will risk their lives instead of waiting 5 minutes makes me worried for humanity
To be fair. Those gates 02:01 are WAY to late to be an effective warning.
