    • @spikethompson2000

leetfighter you don’t even have to automate the trains for Darwinism to take effect. Trains take about a mile to stop, so even if the engineer hits the emergency brakes, a car on the crossing is still likely to get hit.

Stop at the gates when they aren't flashing

    • @robertgift

No. If other vehicles behind, you are impeding traffic and you may cause a rear-end collision.
Bus and hazmat drivers arequired to stop in case the mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* have failed toperate.
Though such failures arextremely rare, I listen and look when approaching railroad grade crossings.

Knew a guy in Minnesota that tried beating trains on his snowmobile, rolled snake eyes one nite, they had to hose him off the front of the train and his ride could be carried off in 5 gallon buckets.

I was the engineer for this one. A fan just happened to be at the commuter station by the crossing. This idiot disappeared below my view from the cab, which means he was less than 20 ft. from getting clobbered. Crossing has since been made into a four-way gates crossing. Queensbury Rd., Riverdale Park, MD. Train speed 47 mph in a 50 mph limit area. Link: ua-cam.com/video/cmra0WpCIDA/v-deo.html

    1 running a red light.
    2 going around a barrier
3 passing in a no passing zone
4 failure to yeald right of way.

I live near a crossing of the NJT Riverline day time and NS at night. Bells and Lights...can't do a gate because of the width and angle of the streets....a dude on a bicycle with headphones could not see the lights nor hear the bells....a helicopter transported him to a trauma center...it's a well lit crossing, but stupid is not curable

Worst I ever saw was yrs ago. A Penn Central train was standing at a crossing w/the gates down, flashers going. The driver of a Volkswagon Beetle assuming this train to be the reason for the gates/flashers, and drove around the gates and collided w/a fast moving freight train on an adjacent main track hidden by the 1st train killing the Volkswagon's driver instantly!
