For sure, dart overall has the best track record, it's a simple tower so the simple 2d flash animation looking artstyle of 5 fits it perfectly. It also seems like he is the one who the other darts make a fan club for after he reveals himself. Way cooler IMO
I wanna see the old BTD5 sprites redrawn in the BTD6 art style, having the same details and everything just more cleaned up. I think it would look very nice
Right I thought about it that way too, which makes me think: is 6 btd’s final form? Or what’s next? Will all future BTD games be 6 based or different? Exciting prospect lol
3 upgrade paths, 5 (now 6 with some paragons) tiers, a bunch of different towers and heroes, it's ridiculous. they removed special agents which were way better than the crummy "powers" we got, but that's a minor setback to the rest of the cool stuff we got
Btd 5 went for a cartoonish approach, while 6 took a fancy realistic one*. And after looking at 6's designs for far too long, I must say that it's a breath of fresh air to look at 5's again. Edit: A year later and I still get replies saying "tf, realistic?" So lemme just say: I was talking shit out my ass lmfao I have no defense at all. To amend the statement entirely, 5 went for a simplistic, cartoonish look, meanwhile 6 went for a more chibi style, almost? Very similar to Wind waker. If something were to be cartoonish but realistic, it'd be Breath of the wild, or tears of the kingdom (ik, I mentioned the zelda series twice but that's the only comparison I can make) Anyways fyuck off
I think it's just different art styles. The BTD5 art style was angular with matt colours and no shadow which made it look more 2D but as you said BTD6 is much more realistic in terms of the shading and angle of the drawings giving a 3D look. When BTD5 came out, the square style was popular in American cartoons. You might notice that Windows 10 had a similar angular look. Now everything is going back rounded and 3D. If the trending art style changes again, so will the look of the game.
doesn't help that the OP chooses incredibly unfair battles, mainly by going for tier 5's but also by completely ignoring the best artworks in btd5 while being favorable to btd6 in that department (just look at the difference between the bionic boomerangs, holy shit did they butcher him in 6)
So btd5 was a bit more "realistic" while btd6 was a bit more cartoony and colorfull obviously the budget for the art went up so we cant compare quality
If you compare the art of Bloons monkey city and BTD5, the eyes of the monkeys in BMC appear larger. They're mostly the same style, with this being the standout feature. A lot of players enjoyed BMC, so ninja kiwi took that as a hint and ported the idea to BTD 6. Now all the monkeys have big eyes, since that design is kid friendly.
There’s even more like for example *takes a breath* monkey lab , energy beacon , premiums , special agents , special agent pros , viral frost , special houses for towers , the vengeful temple(yes Ik the VTSG exsist but temples are not true sun gods) , skins for towers, and all the exclusive tracks
The better BTD 5 artwork was the tier 1 and 2 artwork. In BTD6, every tier 1 and 2 upgrade artwork (except for the glue gunner’s, for some reason) is just an edit of one another. Some of the tier 1 and 2 upgrades, like the Dart monkey’s enhanced eyesight or Super Monkey’s epic range look really neat.
True, but then it couldn’t hit purple. And art wise, in game that wouldn’t look very good, it would be very weird to implement as a design. I personally enjoy the 5/x/x village more as it is balanced and doesn’t just obliterate everything in its path.
the BTD5 village attack was vastly superior to the BTD6 one, lol. it was basically a sustained atomic lightning laser that stopped almost anything ESPECIALLY if you had "bigger beacons"
Both of the games are true masterpieces. I like the BTD5's simplicity in both graphics and gameplay and the variety of games made with it. BTD6 has more challenging gameplay and made the series grow up much more. I like playing both! 🔥
I think btd has executed this sequel thing very well, each game in the series has much better graphics than the former, and each have more upgrades, and more complexity, but never too much, and each game feels more polished and clean
yeah the favoritism is insane in this video it gets even more manipulative when you look closer, cause he just happens to avoid all the upgrade artwork that gives btd6 a real run for it's money (like bionic boomerang, they fucking butchered him in 6)
I really like the simplistic and cute designs of btd5, but I also appreciate the sleeker and cleaner art btd6 uses. That and btd6 also has a couple pretty cool looking upgrades.
BTD5 is not simplistic there's, Energy beacon, Special Missions Random Missions, Monkey Lab, Daily Quests ,Bloonchipper , Viral Frost, Special Agents, Premiums , Specialist Buildings and Ingame Update Logs
I think one of my favourite parts is that such a large percentage of the game is actually 3D modeled, and all of the 3D models resemble the drawings A LOT. The large use of cartoony outlines is one of the best parts of the models. So much effort put into making the outline effects just to make the models resemble the drawings a bit more. And also the ANIMATION!!! Really smooth and well done!! I'm not even talking about the bosses!!
im sorry but i disagree about the animations, watching them normal speed just looks awful to me and they only look semi decent in full auto... :/ i love both games but i do like btd5 animation more
The artwork for BTD5 expanded upon that of BTD4. It felt like a natural progression from 4 to 5 with the updated animations and better looking sprites. 6 made the jump from 2D to 3D so they eventually reworked all the sprites to better suit that environment. BTD6 is still the better game, but that doesn't take away from what BTD5 was and still is - a good game
it’s the memories we had with BTD5 and how iconic it was. The design of the monkeys got better in the next game because that’s what happens when you make a new game they change things to be more appealing and new. I’m not saying btd 6 is bad because I love btd 6 but I like the feel and art of btd5. But still they put a lot of things that is a lot better than btd5 I just think people (and me) think that it’s better because we are pretty nostalgia blinded
0:45 I have to honestly say, the Btd 5 art may not be as good, but it's power is far from dissapointing. Edit: Gee, I shouldin't deserve this many likes. Edit 2: Nor that heart

One of the very few tower upgrades that can be debatable for this is the laser cannon upgrade for dartling. In btd 5, it had over 10 pierce, and with crosspathing, could pop leads. In btd 6, I don't even think it has 5 pierce, and with either crosspathing, it can't pop leads, or purples
while laser cannon is a little underwhelming in this game, plasma accelerator has almost infinite pierce, can pop leads, does 12 dps to moabs without buffs, and is arguably cooler/more fun to use
Imo the whole three upgrade paths thing was dumb since some of the powers of the original upgrades had their functionalities split into different paths and it made some of the monkeys have the exact same powers but in far worse ways.
I think that's kinda the point. In BTD6, they're SUPPOSED to look like an absolute dork, and absolute BUFFOON, because that's kinda what they are- a fanboy who's idolizing super monkey and probably going to comic con every chance they can. ...but yeah the design makes me want to tear my eyeballs out.
I’m pretty certain you misunderstood if you poured your heart out in the sentence, “it’s not our fault” I never once argued that. All I wanted is that Tier 4s (BTD5) and Tier 4s (BTD6) to be compared. Not Tier 5 vs Tier 4. Unless if they were the same upgrade. e.g. Ray of Doom being a Tier 4 Upgrade in BTD5 and Tier 5 in BTD6. But somehow, you argued against me about something I already AGREED with. Reread my sentence if you have trouble.
the main thing i miss from btd5 is the unique challenges it had, rather than modifiers there were conditions you had to deal with like losing the oldest towers you placed or to protect the village in the center
Well the 5-x-x village is really similar, I think they work the exact same except the 5-x-x village deals more damage and looks different, other than that the chain mechanic is similar or the same
I like btd 6, I think it was very well executed, like when it first released I wasn't sure how good 3 paths and 1 tier 5 was gonna be, but it was executed perfectly imo, however I do miss the simple 2d textures of btd 5 and btd battles 1, it makes placement much easier imo
I feel people prefer 5 because of the nostalgia and/or the retro kind of feel to the art and gameplay, however I personally like btd5 but yeah I do agree that btd6 is quite a bit better
I think 5 is pretty dated (unless you’re looking at 5HD, then it’s fine) where as 6 is much more refined. 5 is a much better game for casual players who don’t want to be overwhelmed and is a great introduction to the series where as 6 has much more content and complexity that makes it more fun if you’re experienced. In my opinion, 5HD and 6 are two sides of the same coin.
Great thing about BTD6 is it's still pretty friendly and very playable to new and casual players, even those who haven't played a BTD game yet. Introduced many of my friends to BTD6 and they all enjoyed it a lot.
@@ItsJustArcher BTD has been an easy to learn game. You could understand at least several towers in a week. Unless you've experience in previous BTD game, you don't need to relearn the next one.
@@avalianathallah1030 Exactly my point. That's why I don't necessarily think BTD5 is the best game to be introduced in the series. BTD6 does the job well, and arguably better even.
I prefer the ice tower art from btd5, just looks more badass, while the one from 6 looks like he knows how to dress to deal with the cold and can adapt to it, the btd5 one looks like he froze in place and has become one with the cold, also i love how he looks like he might become pure ice.
I still like the simplicity of 5 better, I wish there was BTD 5 art style with BTD 6 balancing and upgrade paths, I wish they still had bloon chipper, and I liked specialty buildings+lab more than knowledge I think Bloons monkey city was the best though; everything looked polished and it actually had some story to it, but the maps get repetitive quick
It’s a shame that BMC wasn’t very successful outside of the core bloons community, bc imo it’s the most fun btd spinoff and I’d love to play it with btd6 mechanics. But sadly ninja kiwi doesn’t seem interested in making a sequel.
i prefer btd5 because of the 4-2 glue gunner and the 2-4 ice tower combo. melting ceramics never felt so satisfying. also a tower stack bug u can use with helis literally 5 sun gods ontop of each other is better than the temple
i haven’t tried btd5, but i did play battles one when i was younger, and it was fun, but I like where btd6 went. when you get heros, third paths, paragons, and more monkey knowledge, it lets you stick with the game longer, because your unlocking more than a few upgrades. I always found upgrades to be unlocked quickly in btd6, which is amazing for the people who want to be try some powerful upgrades in sandbox, but also the people who want to mix and match with different towers, and just strategize in a game about strategy. i am not saying 5 is bad, but i will prob get it and see what the hype is about but DAMN, is 6 a upgrade. oh yeah and i agree so far battles one is better than battles 2. battles 2 is a mess rn
Honestly I enjoy Battles 2 as it stands currently. Now, I'm aware there are a lot of issues with the game, but in general it's a lot cleaner, 3 towers + hero is better than 3 towers + random bonus tower, COBRA is gone, eco serves a purpose so farms aren't literally required for lategame, surprisingly *less* P2W from my own experience, rushes are more strategic and varied and the environment overall is less toxic. I also hate to be the graphics guy but Battles1/BTD5 artstyle really doesn't hold up for me. I'm not encouraging you to change your way of thinking in any shape or form, in fact I think you're very reasonable here, it's just my two cents.
Jump from btd 4 to 5 art was amazing, 5 to 6 was equally amazing, i love both art because i play btd battles which has a similar style to btd 5, but i wish i can play btd 6 too, but i’m just broke lmao
There’s something about the 3D of btd6 that just makes it feel so lifeless even though all the 2D artwork is a huge upgrade. Like all the towers should look and feel better but they don’t, at least to me.

If something were to be cartoonish but realistic, it'd be Breath of the wild, or tears of the kingdom (ik, I mentioned the zelda series twice but that's the only comparison I can make)
Anyways fyuck off
They are both cartoony, BTD 6 just has way way better artwork and much more detail.
Btd6 art is also more dynamic, many more monkeys are moving instead of just posing
@@thirdhandlv4231it kinda takes away from the cartoonish appeal.
I personally liked the pencil dot eyes for their minimalist simplicity.
doesn't help that the OP chooses incredibly unfair battles, mainly by going for tier 5's
but also by completely ignoring the best artworks in btd5 while being favorable to btd6 in that department
(just look at the difference between the bionic boomerangs, holy shit did they butcher him in 6)
Top path mortar went from being rightfully very careful to playing basketball with a nuke
Let's say he got used to it
So btd5 was a bit more "realistic"
while btd6 was a bit more cartoony and colorfull
obviously the budget for the art went up so we cant compare quality
Finally,a comment that makes actual sense
I wouldn’t really call TD 5 much more “realistic” than TD 6 honestly
If you compare the art of Bloons monkey city and BTD5, the eyes of the monkeys in BMC appear larger. They're mostly the same style, with this being the standout feature.

I wish there was an option to switch how the top path village would deal damage, i kinda miss the energy beams of the btd5 village
