I went with the Sportsman 1000s. It just looks better imo. I got a good deal @14k otd. I like the running lights, bumpers, LED lights, winch and hitch. I do all kinds of riding. So far there has been nothing that has come close to stopping the machine. I love it!! Nice vid! Definitely covers the important differences.
thanks for the comment and watching. I agree the sportsman is definitely a great machine and gets to much heat for the lack of walker evans shocks. People just don't realize the differences.
I hear you bro I also have a 2020 XP 850 which I was totally happy with until a friend of mine bought a 1000 s sportsman and after that I knew I had to get one. So now I have both lol both awesome machines but the S is next level nothing better!
The Sportsman seems like a great option for peeps for actual trail riding. The extra cargo and winch can be very useful especially riding up in northern AZ!
I have highly modified my Scrambler XP1000 S for insane hill climbing and it's 58" wide , 70" wheelbase , related battery to the bottom frame and 3/16 steel skid plate to lower CG and I out do most SXS.
Have you and your brother drag raced? Is the HFM exhaust and tune that much better and worth the money. Did he put a clutch kit in his? Great video! Thank you!
I have a 2021 Sportsman 1000 S with the walker evans and a 2022 Sportsman 1000 S without, it’s real tough to tell the difference.between the two. Also the 2022 has multi select power steering and the 2021 does not. Not sure if the scrambler has that or not. Great Vid!
I don't have one but I called today to see if my local Polaris dealer can get me one. A Scrambler XP 1000 S that is. I currently own a 2018 Can-am Outlander 850 and I love it. I have always wanted the Can-am Renegade 1000. But now I'm definitely going to get the Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 S. The Polaris is the better machine by far, IMO...!
@@OdysseyOffroad That's right. The Polaris is going to fit me and my needs a lot better. Thanks for the video, bro. I also subscribed to your channel. Thanks again...!
Going to be getting the Sportsman come soon, needed a good rig for doing utility work around the property while also having a bit of fun out on the trails and just in general. Had an older 2005 800 when they first came out and that thing lasted well beyond any reason it needed to, only had to get rid of it when the chassis finally split and she was cruising well past 12 years by then. No shame to her and looking forward to see how things have changed since then.
Just got a call from my dealer today, she's in! Going to try and get in sometime this week if work gives me a chance off to go pick her up. Cant wait and hopes ill be able to find a plow for her for this winter to help with the driveway haha@@OdysseyOffroad
@@OdysseyOffroad having had her out a few times now i can officially say its amazing, this is like nothing I’ve ever drove before. Got the belt broke in so far and not got much time yet but she handles great. Right now we have alot of snow on the ground here and shes still has plenty of traction going well faster than anything id ever attempt on that old 800. Ive yet to truly open her up anytime yet until the engines fully broken in but I’ve already gotten her into 60-70km/h just at a bit over half throttle on a few straight sections.
@@Fallouttec thats awesome man, glad to hear you are enjoying the machine! No better feeling than the feeling of reassurance knowing you made the right decision. 🤙🏻
Thanks for the comparision video, you made some great points. I ran into a guy yesterday on the trails with the sportsman S and he loved it. Ive seen a handful of both machines here in the northeast. I personally like the scrambler more. I also have the scrambler 850 🙂 and would love to try the S model. I saw the 2024 scrambler S yesterday in person and the new color is wicked.
Yes you can it's the same exact chassis they bolt right up. In Europe the scrambler comes with those standard shocks also and people jump them and ride them aggressively there. Obviously they're not going to be as good as the walkers but they're better than a standard pogo shock on a traditional quad as they are dual rate springs.
Good one! Around here you don´t get WE on Scrambler, so same susp. on both. Was going to get the Scrambler but took the Sportsman, just looks more solid. :) Do not use it for "racing" that i use quads for so perfect atv for fun and some work.
If there were no difference in the shocks the sportsman's definitely a good buy because you're getting the same machine with more mud protection and some storage definitely not a bad decision! Great machines I'm really enjoying mine.
I am trying to decide on one of these or the Can Am outlander or renegade. I want to do a lot of riding in the west and I know Utah has a bunch of 50 inch trails though I will be mostly in AZ Riding. I also have a 2001 Raptor so I have that as an option I guess. I really like the idea of a 55 inch bike though.
@@brianh019 Best of both worlds. I also have the scrambler and 2020 Raptor 700r and my wife has 2022 renegade 1000xxc. Even in Utah there are plenty of trails not restricted to 50". In Az there are none i know of.
Best set of shocks for the sportsman is the Elka Stage 3 - 5. Elka Stage 5 would match the stock suspension on the scrambler in terms of Hi/Lo compression adjustment and rebound
I got super lucky two months ago I bought a sportsman 1000 s with 36 mi on it, demo. 4 $13,000. It seriously like new no difference. Just tonight I installed a RJMC exhaust along with a tune and modified the air box to create more power. I think obviously the better value is buying the sportsman over the scrambler. This scrambler should have been $500-750 less than a sportsman. Scrambler misses the LED lights winch cargo room etc.. But I do really like the seat on scrambler does anybody know if the scrambler seat is a direct replacement for the sportsman?
That wouldn't make any sense at all from a marketing standpoint the scrambler is a sport machine. If you want heavy duty racks to carry a load that's what the sportsman is for..
@@goodboyringo9716 i believe they offer an "extender" for the rear of scramblers. Not the same rating as the sportsman but another foot or 2 if i recall
Grizzly or bust! Nah I'm just kidding. Stock vs stock I'd have to go scrambler for sure, but both are nice. Sportsman can obviously pull double duty and do some work if that's important to people.
Last time I checked 55 in is only 5 inches wider than the average ATV. I think you should probably try one and it would without a doubt change your mind. Don't knock it until you try it
@OdysseyOffroad I'm not knocking it at all. Personally, I like a wider stance. However, designated four wheeler trails and laws, at least in my state, is 50 inches and under. Most "designated" trails have posts that are 50 inches apart at the trailhead so if the machine is wider, you can't access the trail. Therfore, you can only take it wherever you can take a full size vehicle
@@simonsays5979 well if you live in a state that has trail restrictions then obviously this isn't the machine for you but you misrepresenting the facts when you say it only fits on trails designated for trucks.
@OdysseyOffroad I'm not misrepresenting anything. That law exists across the United States. Not every trail in every state has that restriction but every state has that restriction at some point or another. If you want to be restricted to where you can ride, buy a wide machine. If you want to be able to ride it all on a four wheeler, buy one that is 50 or under
