4:04 I would like to add the 880HP Corvette C4 Callaway, which was for many years the "MOST POWERFUL AMERICAN SPORTS CAR"... 5:38 And in the 2000s we also highlight the PONTIAC GTO 2006, which at the time was the first MUSCLE CAR to reach 400HP... Being more powerful than the MUSTANG SVT COBRA R (The most powerful Pony Car of that time) *With 390HP...* Many do not consider that GTO worthy because it is "AUSTRALIAN" but in terms of performance it was great... Also another interesting detail is that that car had ""IRS""... 4 YEARS BEFORE THE ""BUMBLEBEE"" CAMARO... That and the 400HP made it better than any MUSTANG, CHALLENGER OR CHARGER from that same decade... It is curious that neither PONTIAC nor HOLDEN will exist in 2024... They were both great brands... "GM being GM as always" F! :/
I understand picking the Hemi for 1970, but the Stage 1 Buick GS was basically a coin toss as to which would win. Interesting content, thanks for putting this together and especially for giving a nod the 49 Olds as the first muscle car.
Supposedly, the 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS equipped with the LS6 454 engine was the overall fastest musclecar of the time. The Hemi Cuda was definitely fast too.
1960s….1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt. 11 second quarter mile times. Even the more tame 66 R code Fairlane was quicker than that 440 six pack. This video is B. S. Do your research.
I figured in the 60s, the Hemi Roadrunner would've been faster than the 440 roadrunner with the same gearing. From what I understand, the 440 was a better engine on the street though.
Actually, the fastest production car was the Ford Mustang Super Cobra Jet. Mid 8s 1/4 mile and 0-60 in 1 second. There were 50 made at a time, which made it a production car. The Demon would be the fastest street legsl production car.
As a Ford man , the Shelby Code Red is not a Ford production car . The Dodge 170 - 0 to 60 : 1.70seconds . Also breaks in to the high 8’s for a 1/4 mile.
No one has seen a single Demon run in the 8s...You just going off numbers you seen on Dodge's page....The Code Red is a production car just 30 was made
Factory muscle cars only I assume ? 70 454 SS Chevelle? The 3.8 powered turbo T/A equaled the Buick as well. 99 trans am? The exorcist Camaro!!! The new TT Z06!!
Not being a pessimist but there's just way too many variables with the 60s muscle cars as well as the early seventies as far as who was the quickest. Tires, gearing, driver skillset, whether the car was a limited production or dealer prep (COPO, Shelby, Yenko, etc...), weather conditions/altitude. Especially around 1970. There's probably at least five cars that claimed to be the fastest or quickest car. The 70s would be easier because everything was basically a dog because of the choked emissions. But once the 80s came around and the muscle car Wars heated back up, same deal. I've seen as many 87+ Mustang 5.0 coupe 5 speeds win as I've seen lose to a grand national or even c4 corvette. Throw in a well driven 350 f-body and all are right around 14 seconds any given day. Then you gave the GNX...or Callaway corvette. These run 13s, easy. And then the tt anniversary transam. Or syclone/typhoon trucks. There were standouts such as these, but bone stock (early 60s to early 70s) too many variables.

NHRA: We must unfortunately ban the Dodge Demon because, uh, **checks notes** not enough safety equipment! Yeah, that's it!
🤣🤣

I did not know Oldsmobile Rocket is fastest Muscle car at all
It isn't
I thought for damn sure the 1965 AC Cobra 427SC would be the fastest for that decade.
12.2@118 1/4mile
What about the Pontiac Tempest Catalina in the 60s?
The 1992 firehawk did not have a lt1

Lol and? The 413's and 426 max were faster than any pherd but I agree with you on this video
@@Welcometofacsistubethe mOpArD cars definitely couldn't keep up with the Thunderbolt 😂
2020s the champ is Dodge Demon
an 8.5 quarter mile in a 2wd car. Not possible ! Traction limits says no way.
Totally possible. Have you even been to the track
@@RubelessRight...Plus we just the video of it running that 8.5
The Demon 170. Does the 1/4 mile in 8.71 at 170 miles per hour. Mopar ❤❤❤❤❤

I thought the 1970 454 Chevelle was the fastest sports car in the 70s.
Sports car?
Ignorance is bliss

@ code red is
not produced by Ford .
The Mustang cobra jet 5.2 SC is made standard out of Ford.
um ya no you had the ford thunderbolt , Pontiac , and Chevrolet all with sub 11 cars
I remember when all those Dodge Demons hit the track and were clicking off 9.65's....NOT!
I would consider the viper a muscle car. Faster than the fire hawk. What about the callaway corvettes.
Factory muscle cars only I assume ? 70 454 SS Chevelle? The 3.8 powered turbo T/A equaled the Buick as well. 99 trans am? The exorcist Camaro!!! The new TT Z06!!
@johnmarshjr928 the T/A way quicker/faster than the GN. But essentially the same numbers as the GNX.
Q-da. Sorry, I don't speak 🤖
thats not the fastest for the 1960s... the 1964 Fairlane Thunderbolt ran around 11.6 1/4 mile
code red ain’t street legal and drag pack does a 7 second
Stop saying the fastest, then report the quickness.
The 1969 chevy camaro zl1 ain't the fastest production of the 60's?
