probably the neatest application for the detroit series 60 was in mbta's neoplan trolleybuses that were used on the silver line. those buses used 500 horsepower version of the engine hooked up to some crazy custom made hybrid system to handle all the torque and generate power for the electric motors when off wire. the engine was literally crammed into the back of those buses too. it's part of what bankrupted neoplans american division, but what a way to go out with a bang.
Damn that’s different and a first seeing a 579 GLIDER with oldschool looking straight pipes and a friggen old 12.7 60 Detroit! I’d like to see more manual Kenworth T880s and maybe a glider one, one day. CAT in one of them! I don’t really care for those they are alright. The W990 you can make it look pretty badass same with the T880. I prefer old school W900s, T800s, 379, 389, etc etc. a good old Eaton stick in the middle of the cab floor. Yeah. Smoke coming out big pipes. That’s a TRUCK
I agree, I plan to have my 12.7 tuned, just a 550/2050 tune, nothing too crazy. I may do it once I need a new clutch, that way I can throw a high torque clutch in as well. If I ever got a new truck it would probably be a w990 with a Paccar, but that’s only because a guy makes wiring harnesses for an easy plug and play swap. Take out the paccar engine and put a Detroit 12.7 in its place. Something like that lol
@@DrtyDiesel don’t get a Paccar. I hate those damn engines they look ugly, they don’t sound like anything, no horsepower. Don’t get Paccar man. Buy a Cummins X15 if you want a newer truck but whatever’s your preference though
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03 no no, I mean I’d buy a paccar just to swap it to an older engine. Or if I find someone that can delete a x15, then I’d just go with that and tune it and delete it.
@@DrtyDiesel yeah I saw what you said at the end before I said fricken yank that out for something older. Crush that crappy Paccar with a excavator bucket lol 😆
Love that 60 series bro! I see you in the Columbus area. Out of Dayton area here. I just got into tankers last half of 2022. I wanted to find a niche and I really like it. I was hauling lubricant oils to steel mills regionally. I am looking at jumping into fuel hauling. I have an interview running local dedicated account. They’re starting me off at 31.75 an hour. 4 day work week with the option for 5. Hours are from 2a-2p and 4a-4p. Is this normal?
I know you had problems with the 8's but which sound do you like better? I'm trying to decide between them both. Do you think you could have set those 8's up differently so they wouldn't have given so much trouble or is it an inherent problem with all 8's? Cool vids 😎 love that blue
I appreciate it, and yeah if I could go back I’d do the 8’s different. I’d give support on the elbows more. I prefer the 8 over the 7. The 8’s give a much deeper tone especially while idling. 😁
Ohio. Very cool. My parents are serving a church mission for our church in Kirtland Ohio at some church history sites for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. Otherwise everyone knows us as Mormons. But our church doesn't want us to use that because our focus is on Jesus Christ and his life and resurrection. I know hauling fuel I definitely pray every time I go out to drive. Definitely cuss too but shouldn't. LoL! I like your videos. Really fun to watch and good for learning about pump off jobs.
@@idahocougarfan9511 that’s awesome! My brother served a mission in Las Vegas, I was raised in the LDS church in Florida. Growing up Mormon, I try not to cuss in my videos lol.
This reminds me when I was a kid growing up in the country you would here these trucks all the time. Hauling cattle and hay.
It was coal for me, Bulldogs workin hard

What great sounds !
Damn it sounds good!! I got 6” from y pipe inlet up on my 379 same motor and it barely sounds that deep
It is crazy how different it can sound from a slight diameter change.
The larger the diameter, the deeper and more aggressive the sound
I like that sound good Jake breaker louder 👀👊
