I know your situation is different almost 3 years later, but I still eagerly await the 2003 reviews! I love all your bionicle reviews, they give me such nostalgia for when I collected the sets, and seeing that same sort of passion is so great to me
+Peter “The Chronicler” Engstrom Well, we can just hope they will look back at BIONICLE's roots and figure out how to make unique and clever functions again, only with improved building parts they can hopefully incorporate them onto more articulated figures and sets. Here's to hoping.
Go Seamus I said this before I saw the functions of the creatures. Also, all of the creatures' functions can be simplified to either a piston movement or the standard gear function.
whoa! jaller and gukko! this was my first larger bionicle set as a kid, so this set holds special memories to me, especially since retails on my country don't have large bionicle sets until pirakka
This makes me so happy I got all the sets the years they came out, not only is my collection compelte, with extra sets, I didn't have to go through the hastle of finding them later :D
I managed to get a sealed Matoro from 2003. Of course I opened it because Bionicle hasn't appreciated that much and I don't think it ever will. Anyway, it was extremely fun opening a brand new set from when I was a kid. Completely worth the $13 I spent on it.
At around 19:00 when you start talking about how sets from earlier years have """faces""" that are really hard to make out, I was reminded of how, as a kid, I just could not see a face on the Bohrok at all, which made them actually look like terrifying faceless machines. But now I can see that the big glowy bits to the sides of their heads are actually big buggy eyes, and it just looks unbelievably silly.
Fun fact, for those that either never watched the movies, or are new to G1: The Kanohi Hau, that Jaller has on? That's actually the Hau from Toa/Turaga Lhikan. After he died at Teridax's hands, Vakama took his mentor's Hau and, when Jaller's original mask (a noble Komau in red) broke, Vakama put it on Jaller's face, and it morphed from a noble Hau, to the great Hau you see on his face as a Matoran
the tail part with the white rubber band is used as a handle to pull the trigger for the wings. that's why the back pieces were face the way they were.
Seems kind of pointless seeing as the entire tail works as a handle well enough. Regardless, the demonstration pictures on the box which show exactly that still have those pieces facing opposite from the instructions.
+RolloutReviews eh I just figured I'd point out a little detail that was missed. I do enjoy the nostalgia of this set though. I can't believe I still remember that detail though. I remember I messed up the wheels on puku before then again I was really young when I had these sets.
When I was in third grade, We all had regular bionicles at recess. Then one day, this kid named ryan showed up with one of these. He dropped one of the brown sword pieces on his way home from school and I found it and still have it to this day. I never said anything to him because he was trying to show off at recess with his fancy new shit so it served him right
Dude don’t worry about think pieces are supposed to be another color in a set. When I was little I got an Indiana Jones set(the one with the truck, car, and horse) and I couldn’t even find the first piece because I thought it was supposed to be another color. So I literally sat there for over an hour trying to find one piece.
The main problems I have with this set: •the function is pretty weak, at least when compared to Takua & Pewku •it takes too much space on the shelf because of its weird build and X-shaped wings •there's really no way of putting the set on the shelf without making it awkwardly rest on the ground with its lower wings folded (if you keep them straight, the katana pieces will bend). A kickstand would be an ideal solution, but unfortunately the set doesn't come with one. Speaking of the last problem, it would be nice if you could show us how to build a kickstand in a future review.
I hope to make Tamaru. I need to get some spray paint but I have him ready assembled, just his body and legs are currently light blue and yellow. I have never painted BIONICLE pieces before, I have no idea how it will turn out, especially on his bendy arms.
I wish the new BIONICLE was like this. Kind of a mix of Technic and figure building. After 2003 the nearest they probably got to this was 2008. Man those vehicles were amazing. If the current BIONICLE line gets cancelled and rebooted again, i really hope they start it off in the same way they did 2001 - 03. I really liked how 2001 kind of set up the world with all the Rahi, i wish they'd done that with 2015. The skull villains were pretty bad IMO.
I am looking at my guko right now and I have always seen those "eyes" that are on the dark orange piece as nostrils also because the fact that the eyes are on the side of the head are actually accurate to real birds
I agree that we should've got more Tohunga. If say the wave should've been: Kapura, Hafu, Taipu, Kopeke, Tamura, Hahli. Then we'd have all of the chroniclers company and we could get like Kotu, in a pack or something.
I was struggling to look for bionicle and hero factory parts to rebuild my sets, until I discovered Bricklink and now I have a lot of parts to rebuild sets and make MOCS.
Hey man. I was Thinking of Getting a "new" bionicle set but I can't decide :C! I Was thinking of Toa Ignika or Jaller Mahri. Which Would you recommend?
hello IX, i have found a bdaman between my old toys that i cannot identify and i need a bit of help, he seems to be legit in theremes of plastic quality that transformers figures of that era had, in thermes of colorscheme, he is mostly black, purple frame( not the same frame as the regular ones from the first series) and he has neon-ish green accents with 2 large arm attachements with the same green color and the sticker on his head says: Kaiser, if that is of any help
It's fun to build and the function is neat, but it's really a total pain to display or put into storage; the wings are just really unwieldy. But if you plan on hanging it or something, then sure. Otherwise I'd just hunt down the pieces to build Jaller separately.
you spelt pieces wrong. I don't know if it was typo for you but I always used to spell it 'peices' without fail. Then I realised it's meant to start with the word 'pie' and that's how I remember because I like pie.
yeah this set is funny, and have some really nice dark orange parts, actually i'm useing most of them on one of my mocs (well most of my mocs are on LEGO's complexity level, some even don't look like moc more than simple re-builts anyways) nad i hink it looks great. Also i must say that 2003 Matorans were really nice builds very articulate, only serious articulation lack is head. Now i'm waiting for 2016 winter wave, what the hell it'll be, saw thouse leeks, and must say it looks intersting, but still not enouth to juge if that'll be really intresting. Also i hope that LEGO is going to think out sometinh more intresting in storyline than a reapet of what it was befor, and that the'lll hire a female voice actresss, even if she could dub only Gali :P
Your camera makes yellow and orange look disturbingly pale. You should fix that. edit: I see it get better during 4:07 and after. Maybe you did fix it?
hey i tried something with the 2015 bionicle masks and the glatorian heads/head they used in HF 2 times (dont yell plz just saying what it it) but the pimple part of the mask and line it up with the axe holes in the head TRUST ME
On the TTV there was a video where someone said it would've been better for Matau to turn instead of Vakama. I only said that because I had just assumed that was what you were talking about, but I guess I assumed wrong. That's okay, I guess.

lewa FTW :D lol
I absolutely loved your Toa Mata Nui let’s build! I loved building it as a kid and I loved watching you build it too! Loving the videos my dude!!
This is the one set I remember I always wanted, but never had the money for.
Same.
Great vid Rollout! Your Let's Builds make me feel nostalgic for Bionicle.
This guy will have the biggest trouble building gunpla model kits.
It's a shame LEGO doesn't do these functions in newer BIONICLE sets.
yah

why dont u review the rahkshi if u have them?
do you have all of 2006?
I don't have all of the Matoran or Irnakk, (but I'd barely count Irnakk as a necessity. He's basically a combiner model.)

여기서 한국인 나밖에 없겠지?

well... at least that story was better than the story of 2005 (why the hell does vacama betray the toa hordika, why not matow!!!!)
I'd actually argue that it wasn't. At least the majority of 2005 had some purpose, whereas early 2003 was entirely pointless.
